I am here again sharing another huge disappointment with RBFCU! After the entire fiasco and inconvenience at this Credit Union, I encountered another issue tonight. I used my app as I always do to deposit a check from my partner, only to discover that I am now restricted from making mobile deposits to my account! The Fraud Department is completely out of control, and they continue to cause me inconvenience! I am dreading when my government annuity hits the bank; will they place a hold on that, too? It has been a nightmare, to say the least. I have written a formal letter demanding full reinstatement of my account and a formal apology from the Fraud Department! read more

Bad service cashiers and bad mood Nayeli not person nice and no resolve my questions

We were looking for a bank near south austin that provided safe deposit boxes - this was our closest location where boxes were available. We went in on a Saturday and the process was incredibly easy. We needed proof of ID and had to open a membership/accounts with the CU to then obtain a safe box but membership enrollment was easy and free and there are no monthly or yearly charges on the savings/bank accounts. After opening the safe box we quickly realized we needed to update ownership to our living trust; we made an apt for Monday at 4pm and were once again, supported by staff both virtually and at this specific branch location. The apt took more than an hour but ultimately, we felt super supported by the staff and were not charged a single thing to get the trust listed as the owner. This was shocking to us since most banks charge for everything. Overall, we are incredibly happy with the service and support we received at this location. My card locks up, freezes, & the online banking system will not allow me to unfreeze it. Therefore, I am stuck calling the customer service center to have it unlocked. It is utter humiliating for my bank card to be declined because RBFCU's system is obviously malfunctioning yet again. After my deposits clear I am so closing my account afterwards. read more

If you are a current member or thinking about an account with rbfcu? Don't. I'm 61 years old I've had my account with rbfcu since I was 16 years old. I was not allowed to withdraw cash from my account today. The fraud department decided that I didn't need MY cash. Oh did you know, their fraud department might be in America during the day but at night you will speak to someone in India. Yes all of your information is being shared with a company in another country. All of it I am getting myself set up to move to another financial institution. It's an OKAY credit union but the fraud alerts are turned up so high you can barely use your ATM card. It becomes useless on trips, ebay purchases, and event bright purchases unless you call or use the chat feature. And the warning you get is "Card Declined" and you might get a text. But you might not. I've had tickets sell out while I've been dealing with their insane security settings. And it's EMBARRASSING to have your card declined with NO EXPLANATION. read more

This is the worst bank I have had the displeasure of working with. I made the mistake of selling my car to someone who banks with RBFCU. He and his co-signer were approved by the bank, but I needed to transfer ownership before they would release the funds. I was told over and over again that this is the way this bank operates, the loan is approved and guaranteed, nothing else needed to be done. I had the title transferred and we went to RBFCU at this location to pick up the check. When we arrived we were told the loan could not be finalized because his co-signer wasn't a member. Would have been nice if they told us that at the beginning of this. Luckily, the co-signer jumped online and signed up while we were waiting at the bank. Went back to the same, very rude, employee and were told that they still can't process the check due to the co-signer not being at the bank. Again, how hard is it to give us all of the information at one time? Apparently it's impossible for this bank to do that. Now the co-signer is leaving work to come meet us so this can be over with. I caution anyone using this bank or selling their car to someone who banks here. They love hoops and will make you jump. read more

This is one of the busiest branches in Austin and the staff are not equipped nor able to compete with it.. Waited over 30 minutes for my Safe Deposit box, with only one person ahead of me, for something that should have had a 10 min wait max. I opened an account with this credit union about 2 months ago. I set up my password and my username was provided when I opened the account. Every time I tried to log in, the site would not accept my password, so I went through the process of changing it only to get an error message. I had to call each time to get into my account. Here's the horror show I just lived through. I deposited cash to send a wire transfer. That evening, their fraud department called me. The person treated me as if I was a criminal. Here tone was accusatory and suspicious. She asked me about 35 questions. She said that the account number provided was a general fund and that they couldn't wire the money without an account number associated to my name. So I called the bank to which the transfer was to be sent. They sent me an email providing the details for wiring the funds because they cannot provide an individual account. I called the fraud department again and sent the letter twice to their fraud@ email address but they claimed they didn't receive it. So I sent it to member services. The women from the fraud department contacted member services for the email and approved the wire transfer. I received confirmation of the transfer at 10:12AM that day. I was told it could take up to 24 hours. Twenty-six hours later, the money had not been wired so I called again. They cancelled the wire transfer altogether without notifying me. Another day wasted. So essentially, they just lied to me in writing. I went in today to close both savings and checking accounts with instructions to provide me with CASH - $100x10. That means I want ten hundred dollar bills. When she was working on the transaction, I asked her if she saw the cash request and she said yes. She then asked me if I wanted all of it in cash or a cashier's check. I opted for the cashier's check for safety purposes. So she gives me the cashier's check for the full amount. I said "Where's the cash I requested?" She said that I told her I wanted a cashier's check. OMG! I wrote the withdrawal slip CASH. What about that isn't clear? Then she starts counted 100 ten-dollar bills to give me. She had to do the transaction three times to get it right. Meanwhile, I was in a hurry because I had to go to another banking institution before they closed. I am so glad to be out of there. What was the most alarming about the whole thing is that the first person who called me from the fraud department (the witch) asked me if I gave my banking information to anyone. She said someone from AT&T logged into my account. I told her my AT&T bill auto charges to my visa from another bank. They were not given my banking information. Then she said someone from New York had also logged into my account. Clearly they have serious problems. I've been with Chase for 23 years and have never had a single problem. Less than two months with RBFCU and it's been nothing but problems. DO NOT BANK WITH RBFCU because you will regret it. read more

Worst banking experience ever. Their customer service reps are not well informed and each time you call you get a different info. Tellers at the bank are equally bad. I recently paid off my auto loan by cash at the branch and the teller told me that they would send the communication to the State department electronically in a day and that the State department will take 7-10 business days to process and mail out (snail mail) the title documents. However, when i called them back a week later, the customer service rep tells me that they will take 10 business days to send the information electronically to the state department and God knows how long it would take for the government office to process the request and send me the title by mail. I'm in the process of leaving the country and because the banks sloppiness, i'm having not having to sell the car, since i dont have the title yet! read more

I absolutely love this institution. Granted, this particular location isn't far suprior to other branches, the whole shebang is awesome. Low overdraft and over the limit fees, good rates, easy online banking and bill pay, quick changes. Deposits are available for withdrawal usually immediately. I have sent them emails asking them to do things like split my car payment (which i financed through them) into bi-monthly payments, and it was taken care of in a matter of hours with no complicated paperwork. My only complaint about this location is that the drive through wait is sometimes slower than I'd like, but probably not much different than other banks. Oh, and the receptionist (kinda angry looking girl in her 30s), always wants to talk about your banking questions in this open area, when sometimes you want to go to a private room. But, you just tell her such and she, in her angry way, has you wait for a room to open up (I think she's angry because she doesn't have a private office!). read more

Super friendly staff - even the security guards are really nice, and always open the door for me. I can't tell you how glad I am that I switched from a big bank (here's lookin at you, Wells Fargo) to a smaller, people-centered banking institution. They are willing to work with you on many different things, and treat you like a person. One time, I forgot to transfer money from my savings to my checking account before buying textbooks, and I overdrafted a shit ton of money. I was able to meet with someone and explain my situation. I thought I was going to be out $25 for not being responsible, but she actually asked me what I was studying and took a genuine interest in my education. They waived the fee AND helped me set up the app on my phone (since I'm technologically incapable) so that I could avoid this happening again. Additionally, I know my parents were able to get a lower rate on their mortgage, and have financed all of our cars through RBFCU. They rave about the service as well. OH YEAH, the last and probably one of the best things - you get ten cents for every purchase you make with your debit card. This isn't like Bank of America, where they round up the change (although that's a great program as well). They straight up GIVE you money. I never carry cash and always use my card, so I get a great return every February. It's nice that it coincides with my birthday month, so it usually amounts to a new outfit, though maybe I should be saving it. When the time comes to more concerned with saving money rather than little shopping sprees, I'm sure they'll be able to steer me in the right direction. read more

I have always loved RBFCU. I had an account with them many years ago and closed my account because they were no longer in my area and opened up an account with Chase. Well now that I am back in the Austin area...I am back. I was greeted quickly upon arrival with a smile, signed in and within 5 minutes a personal banker came to help me open a new checking and savings account. Cool new feature you do everything via video monitor like Skype with a representative in San Antonio to sign up, sign paperwork and scan it into your account. its pretty quick and gives you a personal connection with your bankers because you can actually see them and they can see you while you are doing all your business. I have banked with them about 5 years. Had two loans and just refinanced my car, (bad Idea) I paid on time, for my loans, Lost job, right after I refinanced my car. Asked for and extension, on both the loan and the car. Mind you EVERY single other bank and credit card I own, gave me some time to catch up, because I pay on time. NOT RBFCU. They want MORE money, to Grant me more time? WHO DOES THAT? If I am begging for help, specially after paying on time for 3 years, there is a legit reason. But NOPE, still, pay money and MAYBE we will grant you and extension, as they are only allowed ONE per year. CRAP. Then They wont help me with the Car, because the LOAN is too new. I've been a customer for about 3 years, and everything was going fine. They would have gotten 5 stars; however, in November of 2018 I opened a 2% cash-back credit card - or so I thought. I called in December of 2019 to ask when I'd get my 2%, and was told that I didn't have a cash-back card. I have handwritten notes about the phone call when I opened the account and the lady I spoke with. The bottom line: I got screwed out of about $278 because an employee gave me the wrong card, and because that employee doesn't work there any longer, they say that they have no proof of the error. Just opened an account with RBFCU, should have done it sooner! I've been a mortgage banker for 7 years and every client that has had an RBFCU has rave reviews about them. Even those clients with average credit have been able to consolidate credit card debt for a low fixed installment plan therefore allowing them lower there overall monthly debt. I've also heard auto loans are great with RBFCU. It took me about 5 minutes to open an account online, amazingly fast and no hassle! read more

I freaking love this bank. Maybe I was in bliss from finally getting rid of my BOA account (and with that a lot of stress/anger). I never ever had any problems with random bs fees and you don't have to worry about overdraft fees (the transaction is just not approved). The employees were always extremely kind and helpful and there was never a long wait if you called in. Transfers to other non RBFCU accounts are free (if you're not on a time crunch) and when I went to Europe there was no charge for using atms. The only reason that I'm closing my account with RBFCU is because I've moved out of state. Otherwise, I would use this bank until I DIED. read more

I thought being part of a credit union meant personal service and being treated like a human being. I've banked with RBFCU for years and also have business acts with them and there nothing personal about this bank. the employees are all robots like every other bank. Members aren't valued, it doesn't matter if you've banked with them for years have multiple accounts, loans etc through them, they just don't care to provide a personal service to keep happy members. I over drafted because they don't offer alerts to know if you've been overdrawn. I asked to have some of the fees reversed as I was never notified. But nope, it's their rule to treat everyone poorly. It's so sad, I was treated better at Bank of America, which isn't saying much. My husband and I will be buying a home soon, and I'm opening my first store front. We will no longer be looking to RBFCU for our loans and are looking for a new bank ASAP. read more

I have had nothing but issues with this Credit Union. I have had this account active for 4 months in the 4 months there have been 3 MAJOR issues. #1 Credit Builder Loan- Opened loan and it was cancelled due to the teller not entering the correct information to withdraw automatically from the Savings account (credit builder no longer BUILDING but damaging) #2 NO one in the office understood how this or why this happened and did not apologize ONCE! (poor customer service) #3 This issue has occurred TWICE now payments have been deducted and rejected with well over the amount of payment available in the account and have also acquired insufficient fund fees as well. #4 I called member services and I am always told that I will get a call back. I get a call back for them to tell me they are not sure and I should go to my LOCAL bank. Needless to say I will soon be closing out the bank account and wash my hands of this Credit Union that can not keep it together! UFCU is who I recommend as I have had them for OVER 10 years with NOT ONE ISSUE! *** on a side note NO the insufficient funds have not been returned! I left WF to go to Randolph Brooks a while ago because I liked the idea of having my money with a Credit Union. I still think that Credit Unions are the best option, but RBFCU is the worst. I used the e-deposit for a check and the app told me that the check was deposited. 3 days later I received an email that said that it was not deposited because it was too light and could no be read. All other banks will tell you this when you try to deposit the check, not 3 days after. I called RBFCU and they told me that I should have read the rules and regs on the website. I asked why not just have the app tell you when the check is no good, and they began to tell me how I must have been using it wrong. The biggest pain about RBFCU, is the fact that their online bill pay is not connected to their online banking. You have to sign into your account, then sign into "e-pay" which signs you out of their main site, make payments, then sign out and sing back into the main site. Confused? Me too. To make things worse, the two do not talk. So if you make a payment online with epay, it will not show on your account until it is actually paid... even as a pending payment. The customer service is also really bad. When you call, you will be sent to San Antonio and believe me... you will have a seriously hard time getting someone on the line there. You will be transferred an average of 5 times per call. They have no idea what they are doing. Save your time... do not use this bank. read more

BEWARE of the FEES!! I moved my account to RBFCU because I was told they protect their members from excessive fees....then I got a big surprise called "Courtesy Fees" Before I was even aware, these fees accrued and created more fees to the tune of over $600.00 within a month. When I called to complain, the branch manager's solution was to "split" the difference. Not good enough!! I promptly closed my account and went back to Security Service...better service, no Courtesy Fees and more locations. That was an expensive lesson that I had to share so others don't get burned. read more

First time I ever came to this location I was told that it was a waste of time for me to come in and I should have done everything online. Waste of who's time? I personally prefer interaction with people rather than websites. The other two interactions were over the phone. I'm not certain who I finally was able to speak with about obtaining a mortgage as a first time home buyer, but both times the women were so incredibly rude that I barely knew how to respond. Joining RBFCU 8 years ago was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I joined when I moved to San Marcos for college. They were right down the street from my apartment, so it just made sense. After dealing with the likes of Wells Fargo it was a nice transition. I also had an account with Washington Mutual which was great, but that went downhill when they were bought out by Chase Bank. Anyway, RBFCU is hands down the best banking establishment I've ever encountered; best customer service, best interest rates, e-deposits... I LOVE RBFCU. read more

This has been the worst bank I have ever dealt with. All I ever heard was about credit unions looking it for the little people and not being out there to steal your money and I can tell you from personal experience with randolph brooks, this is not true. I have paid more fees and fines with them then I ever have with chase or boa. A day before Christmas my account went negative four dollars and I tried to call to find out what was going on but there was no one to speak with. "No big deal" I thought and went and deposited money in to their night drop. Now I have been charged with a insufficient funds fee during xmas and never knew till now and there "nothing they can do and they are Oh so sorry" I have been told that if a charge is in the pending transactions section on the ap the money has already been taken out and I'm good to go. Now the lady tells me today the ap doesn't show all the details and I have to check the website. Are you serious???? So the ap is designed for you to steal money from your customers is what you're telling me. On christmas?? These people are scumbags. Disgusting people I'm done with them. Already opened a account with a different bank and they GAVE me 200 dollars for signing up with direct deposit. Gee that's like the opposite of what these people do. I'm warning you if you are considering this bank do yourself a big favor and pass. I've paid well over 200 per year to have these people and enough it's enough for me. read more

Do not try to get a land loan from these people. They are so slow and do not care about your needs. They are very friendly, but take so long and use outdated processes. Just got paid $15.50 in rewards from RBFCU. I've been a member since October, so those rewards for using their debit card accrue pretty fast. Except for the fact that customers can't yet make ATM deposits, I am a very happy member. Their extended Saturday hours are handy! So far, banking here has been a good decision. One of the major banks was going to start charging me a monthly fee so I switched to RBFCU, as it is right in my neighborhood. Did I mention they have free standard checks? Nice (although hardly anyone uses them, it's a pain to have to pay for them), If your do your banking locally (all deposits have to be made at a branch), join RBFCU today, you'll be glad you did. read more

I used to LOVE RBFCU, but they recently went thru a major upgrade with their information system / online banking. They used to be super responsive, they had live chat's always available, but since the upgrade as of Sept 2014, they literally SUCK now!! I've moved out of state and was planning on keeping my accounts there, which I have 9 accounts there but I will be moving my banking as soon as possible now and the singular reason has been their upgrade. I don't know what they thought this upgrade would do but it's been a disaster for them!! The online banking sucks now, which it used to be great, but I warn you if you are into online banking GO ELSE WHERE!! If you want any attention at all with your banking issues and if you are interested in getting things accomplished GO ELSEWHERE!! I'm not just spewing issues, I've been a very satisfied member of RBFCU since 1996, so I know what they used to be like and I know they used to be fantastic!! read more
