Unfortunately, I did not feel that I received that level of support or care. Throughout the process of house hunting, I often felt that she was more focused on increasing the price range of the purchase than on helping me determine what was actually appropriate for my needs and budget. I felt that her personal preferences and opinions about what I should buy and what I could afford sometimes took priority over listening to what I actually wanted. More importantly, there were serious concerns during the transaction that I felt were not handled professionally. She seemed to impose her own preferences regarding the loan officer, the type of property, what she considered an appropriate price range, and what she believed I could or should afford, rather than my best interest. More importantly, during the transaction, there were concerns regarding mold and inconsistencies in the seller's representations. I expected my agent to help me investigate and understand the situation and make sure I was making an informed decision. Instead, I felt that she was more focused on defending the seller's position than helping me evaluate the situation. After the purchase was completed, we discovered mold in the property and other evidence that demonstrated that the sellers had misrepresented the condition of the property. I brought this evidence to her attention, but instead of taking my concerns seriously, she dismissed them and continued to defend the sellers. I was extremely disappointed by her response. What was particularly frustrating was that I had expected her to be my advocate just like any professional agent. Instead, I often felt that I had to do my own research, draw my own conclusions and figure out important issues or solutions on my own. Ultimately, I didn't feel that she was sufficiently objective, proactive, or reliable as a buyer's agent. I also did not feel that my interests were being prioritized. For me, trust and advocacy are essential qualities in a real estate agent. Unfortunately, I did not feel that I received either. Based on my experience, I would definitely choose a different agent if I were to purchase a home again. I hope that sharing my experience helps other buyers and sellers understand the importance of having a professional agent who will thoroughly educate them, listen to their concerns, and genuinely advocate for their interests throughout the transaction.
