With social distancing, entertainment venues closing and other changes folks seem to be on the edge and moody, I'm glad I dealt with Ted and Brent while looking for a property. At GCPM not only were they knowledgeable on what they were doing they also had the patience to answer all the questions and doubts my mother had in regards of the rental. My wife and I almost gave up looking for a house because Ted and Gold coast properties was such a horrendous experience, being Ted's property was the first house we had applied to rent. Ted was completely unprofessional and made a very rude and degrading comment to my wife. He told us that we were approved that we were approved for the house and he would send the lease "in a few minutes " we were very excited to be moving onto our first house together. The next day no lease email, no text, no phone call. My wife and I both texted him and called, no response, no text back, zero communication. Three days later with no call, or text back we are both emailed the lease, included were a list of house rules not enclosed when we initially talked with him over text. Every question we asked him, he had a sparky response to and made us feel like idiots for even wasting his time for asking. We wanted to sign the lease, we loved the home so much, but first we checked him on yelp and Google reviews, turns out we dodged a bullet deciding not to rent his property. He currently has a 3 star on yelp. I just hope that nobody else has to deal with this guy. We feel we made the right decision. read more

Company does not respond to listing inquiries. I called in the morning and was told I'd get a call back from the listing agent. Having not received the callback, I tried following up at the by calling the main line and was told by the receptionist that I needed to go to go to their website and fill out their website contact form and wait for someone to contact me. Completely out of control. Was 3 days late with rent. After 5 yrs of consistent payments. Completely redone the lawn. Kimberly expected me to cut branches on the roof over a power line. She also said I was evicted from "trash" in the lawn which consisted of 3 coconuts. Her boyfriend/ contractor she used to to maintain and handyman complete conflict of interest went my home and stole over $10,000 worth of furniture, washer and dryer and brand new items Compressor, weed eater, tools and so much more. They broke my bed frame and dressers legs off on purpose. I have it all on video and neighbors were all witnesses. I've waited with my lawyer to take her to court after 11 months we have all documents, witnesses and videos showing she and him robbed me and I never once received my deposit back. Only thing was broken was the bedroom door. The house was 100% cleaned then when we moved in. Karma is something else and it's ready to turn her way. This was completely malicious and intended to this. She should and will be banned from being a Relator. 5 years no complaints barely seen her 3-4 times in that period then all of a sudden she made a false lease after I had signed and paid Extra money then was changed to help her get us out the to rent and scam another family that absolutely didn't deserve this. This lady is a demon and will be held accountable. read more

This is mega Slumlord Management Company! They will invalidate you if you have a legitimate request to avoid doing the proper maintenance. The will ignore you how they ignored us for a year and we didn't have heat even with a newborn baby. They are dishonest and don't give you or deposit back! They will send crack head maintenance man to do the work and he will milk it until the cows come home. AND they won't hesitate to retaliate your request with an eviction notice! Do not rent because they will not help you with the moldy apartment! It will make you sick! Mold is Deadly! Refer to the pictures of the apartment and the mold growth. Beware. read more

If it wasn't for the awful landlord Michael that stays on the property on Cedar in Ventura. He will bang on doors, cuss people out and then asks if my fiancé has a warrant or is probation. Profiling my partner trying to make threats. This landlord only has issues with people of color at the building. Several reports have been made He yells all this in the middle of the property uncalled for. Just because we had a man pull up to clean our carpet and it was upsetting him that the car was parked in an inconvenient place for 5 minutes. He proceeds to mention my kids running on the floor (nothing to do with the issue he had about the carpet car) saying my kids are the nosiest in the building Tells us to hurry and move out already I'm so tempted to share the video of all his yelling but it's going to be submitted for a police report on his harassment. The worst property management company I've ever experienced in my 55 years on this earth. Total slum lords. NEVER return an emails or phone calls. No common courtesy what so ever! Ted Barnes is horrendous, as well as the staff at the Camarillo office. I've sent emails and had actually spoken to the same lady answering the phone 4 times, and she stated she would get back with me. Never has, and when I speak to her again, she just has an excuse and passes it on to someone else in the office. Maybe it's Ted?? The property in Ventura is a rat hole! Drugs, drug dealers, yelling, fights, front gate is always unsecured (propped opened). Half the carports are not lit up due to not placing new light bulbs, dogs barking in the complex (even though they are not allowed), hookers, etc..... The list is endless. I've spoken to other tenants at other locations "managed" by Gold Coast, and I hear the same things. Even lack of maintenance requests. My fiancé and I had been applying to a few different properties came across one that was through this company and oh was it an experience not for the good. Worst company we had to deal with all they do is give you the run around. The receptionist seems like she answers the phone and creates the excuse as she goes. They made us pay twice for the application just for me to keep calling to see if we got the property and they never once called back from the 30 messages I left. I rented an apartment in Oxnard managed by this company. One of the cleanest places I've ever rented. We had a problem with the plumbing and management came out immediately and fixed it. I was very impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism of the company. We ended up buying a house and moving out but I would definitely recommend living any place managed by Gold Coast. read more

I think some of these negative reviews might have GCPM confused with another company with a similar name. We've worked with GCPM for around a decade now and they are some of the best in the biz. I had a recent terrible experience with this company which makes me highly doubt their professionalism and customer service. I was an excellent tenant when I rented a property from them over a year ago, and I needed them to confirm my rental history to qualify for a new rental. Despite multiple attempts from me and my prospective property manager, including numerous phone calls, voice mails, emails, and even going to their office, we have not received a single response from Gold Coast Property Management. We have been trying to contact them for nearly two weeks with no response. Their ineptitude nearly cost me my new rental, as the rental company was forced to make an exception and approve me without confirming my prior rental history. The unresponsiveness of Gold Coast Property Management is absolutely unexceptionable given their line of business. Brent and Ted have always gone the extra mile - i have a hard time understanding the negative reviews - truly such different experiences than my own! When we sold the big house and needed a condo to rent for a year or two, Brent was able to come through in a very difficult market. Any issue I had (which were few) he and Ted have addressed immediately. They ALWAYS answer their phones - which leads me to believe that anyone who says that they don't either is thinking of the wrong company OR is flat out lying. Gold Coast has been managing Vista Camarillo for several years... the previous person seems to be very biased to this company, they were one of the first companies that managed this property.. They gave very good advise to the present board and that time which was disregareded .. costing the association thousand of dollars that were almost lost to the company doing renovation at this complex. Gold Coast may not be the gold standard for property management companies but they are fair in pricing and don't charge for every little thing that they do. Definitely not the best customer service in my opinion. As the renter/customer with the company, everything was great at first. I had a few daunting maintenance troubles with the home however, that's when the problems began with the rental agency. I paid out of pocket expenses for repairs of broken sprinkler heads because, as a good renter, I cared about the outside appearance of the home and tried to prevent any deterioration of the yard while I was occupying the home. I was experiencing other issues with the rental and tried contacting the management several times without any success. I left several messages only to never receive a call back. I had my sink break down twice and it was impossible to contact them about it. When the repair man finally came out he mentioned that he also did not have any luck contacting the management to give them the quote for the damage repair cost. I feel as if the situations that took place could have been handled much better by the management. Hopefully this review helped changed their practices in the future.... or not. read more

Seriously surprised that this company is still in business. The other 1 star reviews you see here are very accurate. Company president Brent Reisender will not return phone calls. Was interested in a property in Ventura, left several messages for Brent without getting any reply. Spoke with Ted who I only got in touch with because I called on the "emergency" line. I told him I had some questions regarding the property. He told me he would speak with the owner and call me back. I never heard from him. It was only after I left a negative review here on Yelp that I got a call back from Brent Reisender. Brent answered a few questions about the property I was interested in and set up a time to meet. He also asked me to remove the Yelp review. I wanted to give Brent and Gold Coast the benefit of the doubt, so I did remove the review. After meeting Brent at the property, we left him with some questions for the owner and were told that we would receive a call back that afternoon. When he did not call us back, I left him a message the next day which was not returned. I then waited another day, left another message and again, Brent did not return my call. Brent Reisender and Gold Coast Property Management should be avoided at all costs. Horrible customer service. read more
