MatchDog Rescue has given me and my bf our first love, Hewitt…read more Before attending the event in Atco, we were given a phone call with a proper run down on how the event would work so we were not confused when we got there. They are extremely communicative, and the events are usually held on Saturdays, but the transport that was bringing the dogs in had troubles and the event ultimately had to be moved to Sunday. I had my phone call at about 11:15 and about 1 PM hours later I was informed about the date change. It is not a typical adoption shelter that I have been to in the past. At the event, there is a ticket system, as in, the earlier you get there the earlier you will be called. While you wait you mingle with the volunteers and the dogs. You get a vibe on which dog feels like the best fit for you. However, be mindful that the crew with MatchDog Rescue does their due diligence and wants the best for EVERY SINGLE DOG. We went to the event with a very specific dog in mind. One that was on the medium/large end. However, the staff that reviewed our application and lifestyle, let us know that the dog might not be the best fit for us in terms of training and size of our home. While it was disappointing to hear, we knew at heart we wanted what was best for the dog and us. As mentioned before there is a mingling period while waiting to be called on by staff. During this period you can meet dogs of all ages, sizes, and all types OUTSIDE of dog cages. We had met several different dogs during this period, just to name a few that I can remember, Nevada, Hewitt, Cassidy, Dukie, and Garret. We bonded with several dogs early on, but with our hearts set on a specific dog, we just enjoyed their presence. However, after being informed that the dog we had our hearts set on was not a good fit for us, we knew which of the many dogs we met during the mingling period we wanted to go on a walk with. We asked if Hewitt was a good fit for us, confirmed he was, took him on a little stroll around the lot, and knew that our hearts were set on him. We went through the process of adopting him and each volunteer we worked with, remembered Hewitt and always told us how he was such a great dog and a cute little snippet or fun fact about Hewitt. There was never a doubt in my mind that Hewitt was not loved under their care. On our way out with Hewitt, the last volunteer that we worked with walked us to our car, ensuring that Hewitt was buckled in and safe and had their very loving and sad goodbyes with each other. Hewitt has been with us for about a week. We are a very calm, but active couple and Hewitt matches exactly that for us. When we are relaxing, he is relaxing. When we are running, Hewitt is right there running with us. It is not something that I considered when I was looking into adopting a dog, but I am extremely grateful the staff at MDR let us know before adopting a dog. If ever in the future I am looking for a second dog, there is no doubt in my mind that MDR will be the first adoption agency I look into.

But We feel that after four years our pets are getting equal if not better care at this veterinarian. We have been taking our three dogs to this VET for four years; we are very happy with the services received. Our mixed-bred Husky, ALLIE, does not require any MEDS; She is still young and healthy. Our pure-bred rescue German Shepard Dog, JEDI, from the first visit in on MEDS due to bad allergies. Yes, it is costly for two pills a day, but it is effective. Before ApoQuel all kinds of itching with multiple ear infections, none since and the other itching is now considered normal. Our senior citizen 16-year-old mixed Dobbie, ROSCOE, is on MEDS. The doctor prescribed a medication four years ago for a bum right shoulder after x-rays indicated it was not bone cancer. It has been a lifesaver for Roscoe. How this was handled by the staff is very touching, they did not make me wait a very long time, the doctor came in after the x-rays and told me that it was not cancer. What a relief that was not to wait. Now four years later, he has had issues getting up, he is on another MED. We understand our dog is over 16 years old. He's a walking miracle. A rescue from the pound many years ago. The VET recommended that Roscoe go on another MED, called Librela, and he starts that treatment this week. It is pricey at roughly $100 a month for an 80-pound dog. We will try to update in a few months on that treatment. It is not a cure-all, we understand most of the time it takes a few months to yield any results. We are trying to manage his age-related arthritis as best we can as his care takers.

The receptionist Lynn was super nice and overall made me very comfortable however when I was brought to a room the so called Tech Gabbie was extremely stand offish and not friendly. She basically pushed my dog up on the scale to get his weight ( he was scared and didn't want to get on it) after that she had a rude tone and asked what I was there for and so I explained. She then began to say maybe if my dog wasn't so dirty he wouldn't be itchy. ( my dog has had allergies his whole life pretty much and around this time of year is when they start back up) I explained that to her and she got an attitude and said she will let the dr know and that he would be in shortly. The doctor came in and i explained everything and he offered a prescription for apoquel ( which so far is working great). The dr was not the most personable but overall a nice man. I'm glad my dog is feeling better and not so itchy anymore. Overall decent experience except for the tech Gabbie. Someone should really teach her some customer service.

Made a appointment with Faithful friends to do a small Mass removal on my small dog. I dropped her…read moreoff when I went back to pick her up at 4:00. The vet that worked on her came out and told me after he closed her up the first time she was still bleeding real bad. He had to go back in and put her to sleep and open her up the second time. So I had to sit and wait an extra hour for her to wake up off the anesthesia. When they brought her out to me they had her in some kind of suit. The lady was carrying her and she said it was a space suit. She said she would carry her to my truck and they had raped her and she told me to take the bandages off. When I got home that night I took the bandages off. I couldn't believe my eyes. I never seen anything so bad in my whole life. She was so swollen and bruised in between. Her two back legs was so swelled. They look like giant blood blisters. They gave me enough meds for 7 days and and said rest. I stayed with her in my bedroom around the clock and kept icing her down. When I called and said how swelled she was that's what they told me to do after a week and a half bleeding had never stopped. It wasn't real bad thick drops but steady and then it got a little worse and he told me to put a Band-Aid on her so I was using big band needs. Every time I took one off it was so filled with blood. I couldn't believe it. So I took. I called and said she was in pain and I need it more medicine. I'm still thinking well. Some swelling went down and don't look as bad. I was praying she'd be okay. They told me I would have to bring her in to get the medicine so I did why there? I told him bleeding never stop. Is she bled on their floor where I was sittinI told the lady at the receptionist she went and got a mop and mopped it up. They gave me more meds and told me the same thing. Rest and I left within 21 days from surgery to the day she bled out and died in my arms. I left another review. It would be the first review and I put pictures with it but it looked like things were changed around and it was set so I added it and I'm rewriting it now. I don't know if They'll let me post pictures to show you how bad it was. I called there said I would like to talk to the vet that did the mass removal on my dog. She passed away and they said they were so sorry and they would have him call me a week. Maybe a little over a week later. He called. I told him you went in twice. You had to do something wrong the first time for her to bleed like that for you to go back in the second time. He called me delusional and asked me can I prove it? I got pictures of before I brought her there and look great and I got pictures when they were done with her she looked so bad he had to know something was wrong for him to opened her up twice. He just prolonged her death. She suffered for 21 days before her passing. He told me the second time he went in. He tied everything off and she'd be okay. Just rest and medicine from surgery to the day she passed was exactly 21 days. I googled it about if a vet opens the dog up twice and it told me that yes that's not good. I experience that should know better and if she died within 21 days that's why she died because she was opened up twice. If you would have just told me the first time before he opened her up the second time because everybody makes a mistake that he hits something and couldn't stop the bleeding and had to know she was going to pass away. He just let her suffer. I would have just had her put down so she didn't suffer. I am very hurt that he has denied anything to do with her passing. I'm very mad. He opened her up twice. Never asked me. Could he go back in twice or did I want him to go back in? He just did it on his own. I lost my best friend my companion. She was all I had. She went everywhere with me and did everything together. She is very missed. I'm lost . and he still hasn't taken responsibility for what happened to her. I believe he's mean and selfish and knowing she was going to pass and he let her suffer for the 21 days. All I've done is cry. I can't believe I took her for a small Mass removal to make sure she was okay and I was so happy to go get her and then he came out and told me he had it open her twice and when I took her him and seen her it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. I had to watch my dog suffer for 21 days. Why he was in denial until her death? Dr Quin did the surgery I'm not from PA in from Newcastle Delaware.

The biggest stressor I want people to know about this practice is the patient follow up and protocol is horrendous. Its advised to patients to use the patient portal messaging system, but yet you write a question and I would wait 7 days, 6 days with constant chasing. One time sure, but multiple times within the 3 months of seeing her... it's a pattern of how her business operates. And the last instance was when it was communicated, via her message portal, she would reach out when my treatment rx. was available. Well, she never responded, I followed up over a month later then she wanted me to pay an out of pocket consult again. Moral of story, go with your gut and if you feel like someone is taking advantage of you then switch (I already have). Within 48hrs of leaving I found a better (in-person) practice that is prompt, clear, and punctual.

She seems more worried about if your labs fit into a "normal" threshold than she does about finding the route of the problem.
