Watch yourself if you attempt to work at UCP, There is NO support systems within the company. They…read morewill chase you out as fast as they hired you in. Residential Supervisor - Central Pennsylvania Their DSP'S are very unappreciated along with the Supervisors. If you have a family and need Health benefits go somewhere else. The benefits cost about $950.00 a month for a family including vision and dental. No joke Most DSP'S and Supervisors are devoted to their work which make the backbones of the company. There is so many Cons Costly benefits, lack of training, poor management, too much gossip and drama, to much internal redundant paperwork, Management has favorites, plays mind games. You try to contact appropriate people on the blue business cards but nothing happens, all the higher ups / upper management dont want to be bothered, your concerns are completely ignored . If you seek to report something then be ready for intimidation and retaliation. Alot of things are supposed to be confidential but some how the information that is supposed to be confidential is some how shared with others. For example, your wages you earn are shared. Your disabilities are shared. Your work related accident with your injuries are shared. The last time anyone has checked, that falls under the category of HIPAA. So needless to say, people start rumors and judge you. Then you are asked /told and demanded to resign your position if you can't handle the stress from everything above, including being in pain from your ongoing work related injuries and the medications that you are on that makes you so tired. Then when you reach out to the CEO and HR about finding another position that you qualify for in the company ,because you resigned just your current position by force / demanded. CEO and HR says we will get back to you with some options . 2 days later they say that they accept your "Voluntary" resignation and they have nothing else to offer you. Wow, when I heard about this, I was flabbergasted. Why would a reputable company that deals with individuals with disabilities do this to anyone? I guess its not that reputable , and obviously UCP should know of all people/companies that business should never be run like that. This employee should have never been put through that situation at all. It's not like the employee was causing trouble ever. They are messing with people's lives. That employee has a family . Pros Great Clients, non profit, DSP'S and Supervisors make up the company's backbones. Cons Costly benefits, lack of training, poor management, too much gossip, to much internal redundant paperwork, Management has favorites, plays mind games. Contact appropriate people on the blue business cards but nothing happens, If you seek to report something then be ready for intimidation and retaliation.

I worked in the home health care branch of UCP, Capital Home Care, a couple years ago. They were ok…read morefor the most part but often I would have situations where the elderly client would be unclear with me about what they wanted, or not even say anything at all to me, talk behind my back to my supervisor saying I didn't do what they wanted, and instead of explaining to the client that they needed to be clear and direct with me they would somehow see it as a worker or character flaw in me. This really hurt me. I felt like they did not get to know me as a person and see what a hard worker I was. They even said maybe I would be written up because of this. Workers should not be treated this way. I don't know if the Capital Home Care branch of UCP even exists anymore but if it does then the supervisors need to get to know the workers better and explain to elderly clients that they need to be clear and direct with the home health care workers.
