The owner (and inspector), Mr. Rodney Sims, was a TREMENDOUS HELP to us, both during the inspection, and afterward. This is the first home purchase for my husband and I, and (to put it simply), Rodney was a BIGGER help to us than our own Realtor. His thorough inspection of our 2000 sq. ft. house took almost 5 hours. After the inspection, he explained to us, in terms that WE could understand, what he had found. He was in NO RUSH, and took all the time with us that we needed. He even took time to point out all the (extra good) things about our home, that we did not even know about. He explained things like (what a GFCI plug is), (now I feel like an expert). He pointed out the extra High-Efficiency Air Filter in the attic that we did not even know was there. He gave us tips about how to balance our thermostats to save money. After the inspection, we knew that our new home was (sound) and that all the equipment (functioned properly). Rodney also helped us decide which repairs were necessary and which were the most important. This was an IMMENSE BENEFIT to us when we went into NEGOTIATION with the seller to determine (which) repairs would be made, and (which) repairs WE would be COMPENSATED FOR (Price off the home!!! Rodney recently performed a pre-drywall inspection for my home currently under construction. I decided to hire Rodney for additional peace of mind after my builder had an inspection performed that passed. It was simply the best money that I have spent to date on my home. Rodney found various code issues and made several suggestions that even the builder did not know. Rodney then went above and beyond by contacting the engineering firm that performed the structural analysis for the windstorm requirement. The builder has made all of the corrections that Rodney suggested, and I believe that it was an eye opening experience for them since they admitted they had some gaps. I plan to get Rodney out again prior to close to do a final walk through. He is very detailed and helpful with his analysis. This house is the biggest investment for me, and Rodney's hard work has enabled me to sleep better at night. I highly recommend him. read more

Very highly recommend. We have used REI on three occasions. The best money we have ever spent... Rodney goes way above and beyond and gives you much more for your money than the average home inspector. He is very knowledgeable and does not miss a flaw or problem. Found Rodney on Google and was very thorough in explaining his process of inspecting a house. He made his pitch and based on that I was eager to hire him. He meticulously looked over every aspect of the structure prior to drywall installation. After identifying several errors on the builder's part and communicating those concerns to the PM, I hored Rodney to reinspect those items to ensure no corners were cut. Again, he verified some issues that I would not have known about. My advice for anyone building a house, never take a builder's word for anything and spend the money to hire an expert to ensure your house is up to standard. Rodney Sims showed up to do the inspection at the date and time agreed upon with the Realtor and Seller. For the next nearly 5 hours he worked to uncover things even the Seller did not know about. I am pretty "green" about what should be in an inspection report but i was impressed by the thoroughness of his work as was my realtor ( I am the buyer ) . I don't feel the listed things were "nit picky' but extended to , as an example, a relatively new toilet was identified as a brand and model number that had been part of a class action suit for breaking and flooding housed.
