I've used Houston Inspections several times, both in the current house before I bought it as well as for the house I'm in the process of buying. Both my wife and I were pleased with their services and corresponding reports. In the case of our current house, they helped us flag down tons of issues with our house that we were able to get the builders to repair while we still under warranty since it was a new build. My sister and I chose this company because of the plethora of five-star positive reviews on Yelp. While they were a few hundred more than their competitors, we were willing to pay it, because we wanted quality. Kyle came out and did a thorough job. However, he left the lights on, water on floor, A/C unit off, didn't respect that we had asked and offered him to use foot covers when walking on the carpet inside the home, and broke our bathroom sink faucet. After speaking to Jessica on the phone, and sharing with her our experience, no apology was given, she said that she didn't know what the expectation was since she wasn't an inspector. Great inspection job done by Ronnie. My realtor specifically requested him, as he is one of the more senior guys who pays great attention to detail. I booked the inspection about 3 days in advance and had no issues getting someone out here quickly. After the inspection, I received a detailed report on the house. I spoke with the inspector afterwards and he sat down and went detail by detail with me with any questions or concerns I had with the property. Not only that, Ronnie gave me his idea based off his past experiences of the cost/ways to fix some of the damaged or troubled areas. Price wise, I paid about $450 for the inspection (includes termite check) on a house built in the 80's. Inspection on older houses generally cost more. I called around other places in Houston and a smaller company offered an inspection for around $300, while a similar sized company charged $650. I have to say the tone and attitude he exhibited over the phone is really not friendly, a little snobbish and let you feel you are nothing but a potential client begging him. I placed two calls, first call could not get an idea of their earliest available date as he refused to give it to me; 2nd call, I asked him to email me what's covered in quoted price, he refused too, just asked me to book first, then email. Your price is the highest, yet it sounds like you don't really care. Perhaps the service is really great according to the 60+ reviews, however, the front desk phone answering person should be replaced. I would not place an order with this type of attitude: makes client feel we owe them something and they do not appreciate our business. read more

Nick did the inspection for us. The home is newly built so no serious problems are found. Pros: 1. Price is low in comparison with other competitors. And they include free thermo scan and pest inspection. 2. Fast response from the customer service. Fast report generation. 3. Nick is a nice person. He inspected the house in a standard manner. I did not give a five star review because: 1. Although I asked Nick to add the 'withered yard grass problem' and 'notch on the concrete problem' to the report, he did not do it. So the builder forgot to repair it because they did the repair based on the report. Now we are in a dilemma for closing the sale. 2. They did not go on my roof, because our house is more than one floor. Although it does not matter for a new house like ours, but it would be necessary for a old house to get roof inspection. read more

Great efficient service. The night before my scheduled inspection I found out that the AC unit wasn't working and would have to be fixed, meaning that the inspector would not be able to fully conduct the inspection. Despite having a 48 hour cancellation policy, they were completely understanding and rescheduled the inspection at no extra charge. The appointment was already scheduled late in the week and at first it didn't look like there were any openings left that week. When I explained that my option period was up at the end of the week and I had to have the inspection ASAP, they made sure to find a way to make it work, scheduling someone who was supposed to be off that day. This was much appreciated! The inspector I worked with was Chris and he was very patient in explaining his findings and answering any questions. Knowing that the option period was ending, he even took the time to get on a call with myself and my realtor and give us an overview of what he found so that we could get started on resolving any issues ASAP. He also sent us the full detailed report within 4 hours of the inspection ending. We just had a home inspection done by Shawn yesterday. We had a contract fall through a few months ago but were very happy with the work Shawn did for us at that time and had no doubt in our mind we wanted to use Houston Inspections again. We were able to get an appointment soon after our option period started which was a huge relief to us. During the inspection, he did an awesome job answering all our questions and gave us some great advice on various home maintenance items that will come in handy in the future (fingers crossed). As a first time home buyer, Shawn was a wealth of information and is a great teacher - he is extremely patient and easy going and is able to efficiently complete the inspection while giving feedback. We hired Houston Inspections to do a general, termite, and sprinkler inspection for a home that was built in the 1930's with additions in the 1980's. Ronnie Hagelberger & Dennis Inman came out to do the home inspection and they were absolutely wonderful! They were both so nice and explained everything (both positive and negative) in the house. The PROS: They do a very thorough job. They use thermal imaging cameras to detect moisture in the walls, and they inspected the crawl space under the house. We received the inspection reports first thing the next day and it was complete with pictures showing any issues they found. I had my dad come out as another set of eyes and ears and Ronnie was very professional and polite the whole 3-3.5 hours we were there. I highly recommend Houston Inspections for your home inspection needs. Since my home purchase was going through a relocation company- our inspection period was 10 days so I needed someone quick. I had found Houston Inspections via yelp on a Thursday, called/made an appt, and Shawn came out the following Monday. Even in the rain he came to the house 15 minute early and was there till 4pm (2.5 hour inspection). He's very thorough and extremely helpful in explaining his process. After his walk through he sent me the report (39 pages w/ pictures) the next morning. After my realtor and I reviewed it, we took his recommendation on seeing an HVAC specialist (AC unit was 18 years old so it was due for some further inspection).
