My son has a 2018 Subaru Legacy in excellent mechanical condition that he will be driving until June when he sells it to move north for a new job where he won't need a car (welcome to the Big Apple). HOWEVER, backing out of a parking space a few months ago, the front bumper cover caught on the parking stanchion and pulled the bumper out of alignment. He had a quick fix some months back when a mechanic could snap the bumper cover back in place...but like all things with age and wear the bumper cover started to pull away from it's clips. I am new to town and did a bit of research and Eur-Am was close to where we were that afternoon and there were (for good reason) rave reviews. We went to Eur-Am near closing on Thursday and I thought (what do I know) that fifteen minutes and a kind and patient owner would give me quick estimate. Instead, Ernie spent a few moments on hands and knees examining the bumper cover from underneath and then a half hour explaining the way in which the bumper cover might be fixed - from replacing a few plastic clips to hold the cover on, to replacing the bumper cover altogether, and the primer and paint process that might be required. With model and VIN number in hand he showed me the computer software rendering of the bumper cover and layers beneath and the parts that might be necessary. Next morning he hunted down the availability of Subaru parts - not expensive but there is still a supply problem (he called it "sketchy") for Subaru parts. And then, most honestly, he advised that since my son would be selling the car soon we'd be just as well off NOT fixing the bumper (and incurring not only the expense of repair but the expense of a rental car and the inconvenience of time lost in the process) as he guessed that bumper cover repaired or not we might still get the same offer from an eager CarGuru or CarMax dealer. I can't speak to the work in repair (but it would appear any number of MB and Audi cars were on the lot in some sort of disassembly) but I can speak to his (and Eur-Am's corporate) integrity.
