What caring people. I am a volunteer in hospice and was blown away by how empathetic the team was when they picked up the deceased person from her home. They gave the children appropriate time to grieve and say "goodbye." They were so gentle in their manner and although it was a painful time, their kindness put everyone at ease. Refreshments were available in a designated area with tables & chairs. Water bottles were offered (the only drink allowed in the Viewing area). The Viewing area met expectations. Reardon did my Mom's funeral back in September of 2012. They were very professional and caring. We had her cremated, and this was her desire. It is never an easy process to lose a loved one. My Dad was so impressed by them, that he already set up his funeral with them. I am hoping we wont have to use them anytime soon, but you never know. Hold your loved ones tight, and tell those you care about you love them daily. My Mom was healthy all her life, and bam! She was gone 1.5 months after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Planning a funeral or memorial service is never an easy undertaking but coordinating the service arrangements with Shane Dietsche's assistance ensured everything ran smoothly. This is the third time I've had the opportunity of working with Reardon (my mother, my husband, and most recently my significant other). Shane was supportive of my ideas and provided suggestions on how best to implement them. I arrived at the memorial park an hour and a half prior to the service and Shane ensured everything, e.g., tables, flowers, seating, etc., was set up appropriately. My experience with the Reardon was absolutely exceptional. Through an inevitably difficult time, they were professional, kind, compassionate, and thorough. We worked primarily with Connie leading up to the service, and Shane on the day of. Connie was absolute perfection, called me almost daily with updates and information and always returned my calls if I couldn't reach her. She interfaced with the church and cemetery we were also working with and would follow up with me on what she had discussed. They never pushed me for payment until a few days before and I was always clear what they needed from me to keep the process moving. We didn't use the facility itself. But they were completely willing to handle the services we wanted elsewhere. Their prices are reasonable and comparable with other funeral homes/mortuaries in the area and are worth every penny. Thanks God we don't have to do this too often. But when you do, especially the first time, I highly recommend Reardon SV funeral home. Recently one of my cousins passed away due to a heart attack. With his family in another country, I had to step up to arrange his funeral before they can get here. I quickly got in touch with Reardon after recommendation from a former employee. From that moment, I knew my cousin will be in good hands. It's during July 4th holiday weekend. With our initial contact Connie away for her vacation, Shane personally coordinated and arranged everything for us. He is very considerate and patient with me. I don't know how can I survive the stress without his guidance. His staff did excellent jobs in working with coroners office, public health dept. and crematorium, as well as dressing my cousin for family viewing. Shane kept me and my family closely informed for every single step. He even waited for us during after hours to ensure a successful international journey for bringing my cousin's remains home. The process only took few weeks, but it could be a logistical nightmare if one of us drops the ball. I, as a first timer, like a deer in the headlights, cannot do this so well without Shane and his staff. The family suffered a big loss. At least this process didn't take additional toll on them. Reardon came thru esp for me and my family as I was living in the hospital w/deceased's youngest son who had become seriously ill just prior to my husband of 35 years' sudden passing. A funeral home is never the kind of service you want to need, but when you do - just call Reardon. My husband passed away this last June after a lengthy hospital stay. Obviously, it was an incredibly stressful time after an already stressful time. I thought dealing with the funeral arrangements was going to be the most difficult part of the process, but we called Reardon, and they held my hand through the whole process. My husband is a retired Air Force Veteran, which is an added layer of planning, and they have a lot of experience dealing with military honors - which made the process even simpler. The whole staff, especially Shane, Claire, and Tim were professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and flexible. I want to also mention specifically their attention to detail. Knowing that my husband was a retired Air Force member, Shane went above and beyond to honor my husband's military service through the little things like flying the Air Force flag on the day of his visitation, placing of the Air Force emblem on the coach as they transported his remains to the cemetery, carefully respecting the flag for his memorial, making sure the rifle volley and honor guard would be there, and the list goes on. This is by far the best funeral home. The service was so personal from the owner Bill to the staff Connie, Shane and Tim who made us feel like family. We could not ask for anything more, they treated me and my family with the upmost compassion and made us feel so much comfort during this difficult time losing our father. This review is a few months delayed but it is here as promised. Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home recently took charge of my Brother in-laws services. Shane (The gentle giant) was very professional and compassionate to all of our many requests and needs in order to make the unpleasant event a little easier. He explained everything step by step and took care of everything that needed to be done to make the service a flawless experience. I was very impressed on the skills of the mortuary cosmetologist. Although My Brother in-law had passed away a month before his services, he looked exactly the same as when he was alive. My husband passed away very suddenly at the of 62, and we chose Reardon based on a friend's recommendation. They were so kind and caring, making every step easier for our family. That's what you would expect from any funeral home. But we had an unusual situation. I won't be living in Simi after I retire in several years, so we wanted to lay my husband to rest in San Diego County, right near my younger son's house. They drove my husband there, a 3 hour drive one way at best, for a 10am ceremony, and charged us almost nothing. Words cannot describe what that meant to me. I came here for my friends mother viewing. It's hard to review a funeral home. I guess most people would review it if they were upset. I'm the opposite. As I walked in with two friends. We were warmly greeted. And informed which Way to go. The people that work there. Are very professional. They seem if you have everything in order. Always trying to help the family. And they looked and acted very responsible. The chapel area has doors that open up to the hallway. Making it seem larger then that is. If I remember Correct. There was 15 pews on either side. It was a beautiful chapel. Like I said it's hard to review hey mortuary. But I believe the people here did their best for my friends mom days. So friends and family could come and pay their last respects. If for any reason do you happen to read this for the reasons shopping for a place. Keep this one in mind. It's so sad to see a community fixture like Reardon's go down the drain because of poor service. If you are thinking of making pre-arrangements, do yourself a favor and pay someone who cares. Dealing with their pre-arrangement Director, Cheryl, was one of the most frustrating, unbelievable situations I could imagine. We were literally trying to give them money for a prearrangement and Cheryl couldn't help herself with her snotty, judgmental, rude comments. I was stunned. Certainly this isn't the same Reardon's who buried my father and all four grandparents!! If Reardon's is reading this, let me know so I can provide further "proof" regarding Cheryl's outrageous and demeaning conduct. A complete unprofessional. Long story short, a very dear friend of ours passed and his family used this funeral home for the service and memorial. I have no idea how this type of planning occurs, but what I did know was I wanted to dedicate a dove release in our friends honor and hopefully to provide closure for the living. I seriously had no idea what to do or where to start so I sent Anthony an email in regards to this and if it were too late to arrange for the release. Anthony was honestly above and beyond responsive, supportive, and willing to make this release work out. He connected me with Ernies Doves Release in Simi Valley and I seriously couldn't have asked for a better farewell to our friend. Having moved to Simi as a kid in 1969 and living between sycamore and Erringer I have only driven by Readon's a bazillion time or two but until a week ago today had never been in. Last week that changed when my mother passed away. The morning after mom passed we called to see what we needed to do. The person on the phone was sweet and kind, conveying their sympathy, letting us know mom was already there and that Brianna would be calling us shortly. Which she did. We made an appointment for that afternoon. Hearing stories of hard sells to emotional families, mentally I was prepared. I'm happy to report I didn't need to be! Totally kind, sensitive and truly listening to what my dad wanted is what Brianna did the entire time. We asked for ideas, we got them, since we didn't use some of the standard she let us know up front that even with "package pricing" she would adjust the cost. When we had a glitch Brianna had a great solution. As we made some changes, everyone was helpful and kind. The day of the service everyone was there, helpful and supportive. We brought quilts, pottery, pictures and a giant vase of sunflowers. They helped with set up and encouraged us to move tables as we needed. The chapel was beautiful, the service we'll done. The only thing we would have done differently is we would have used the woman (I have forgotten her name) from Reardon's that will officiate services rather than the pastor Brianna helped us find. I found her sweet, caring and generous of spirit (as we're all of the Reardon folks) in my short conversations during the service. I hope I don't need their services again soon, but should I, I know where I will go, without a doubt. read more
