When we originally found this cemetery to bury my son, we were able to decorate our plots however we liked. When it became unsightly, it was cleaned up; like most cemeteries. They have now changed the policy that on Fridays everything will be thrown out, no matter what it looks like. So if you intend on being able to express your love and care to those who have passed in this way, you need to find a different cemetery. This is not a PARK like the sign says, it's a CEMETERY. I personally find it beautiful to look across and see flowers and decor given to our loved ones. (Also at 20 thousand dollars for a plot, you'd think that would come with some ownership of your property). This also means if you bury your loved one on a Thursday, all your funeral bouquets will be trashed the next day. read more

I attended a funeral today and most of the experience was pleasant and respectful. Right when the ceremony was over the grave was filled with soil. Then came the shock. While the relatives and attendees we still at the grave and mourning, a worker produced a Vibratory Rammer Tamper, started the motor and compacted the soil above the just buried relative! Not only was the level of disrespect shocking but running this noisy machine right next to the attendees including small children without ear protection even irresponsible. Just wow. read more

Admittedly we didn't shop around ahead of time. Come to find out, this home charges DOUBLE compared to others. We paid over $4,000 for cremation/transport. After later learning from friends that the average cost should have been HALF that amount.. we contacted Conejo to discuss. They told us their prices are high because they have their own crematory and that there was nothing they could do to help us. We still can't believe we paid over 2K more than what we should have. I recently stopped by to visit dear Mom who passed over two decades ago. Much to my dismay, the metal vase that holds flowers was mysteriously missing - which was quite a shock. In all the years since she left us, I've never seen or heard of such a thing. Who would possibly pilfer such a sacred container? One of the groundskeepers - Ricardo - understood my concern and quickly addressed the issue, saying this was not uncommon and to inform the main office while he looked for a replacement. I did as instructed, letting Nancy, the very kind funeral director know, and before I got back to Mom's plot, a new vase had been installed! Amazing. Thank you Ricardo and Nancy and team for your help and all you do to take care of Mom and the beautiful, peaceful place where she and so many others rest. I try to come once a year to visit my maternal grandparents' plots that are housed here. What is crazy is that my boyfriend's paternal grandparents are also buried here so if we're traveling together, we both go and visit. The location is really gorgeous and the grounds are usually immaculate all year around. In addition, the staff is very receptive when you need to speak to them. You can simply go to the main office with any questions or concerns if you are on the property and make your request. This last visit, we had an issue with not being able to leave flowers in the in-ground vase that was located at my grandparents' headstones. It seemed to be missing and we had brought fresh flowers to their site. I went to the main office located off to the far right and down the hill from the central mausoleum to go speak with someone about this issue. Within minutes and even before I got back to the burial site, a groundsman was called and had already taken care of replacing the water vase for a new one and made sure my family was happy with everything before he left. My Beautiful, Angel of a Mother was buried here over 10 years ago. My dad made the last minute decision of having her buried here and I think its the best decision he has made in regards to that. I remember the stress and the anguish surrounding my mother's passing. Not only was it completely unexpected, my family was very ill prepared. My parents hadn't completed their Living Trusts and they hadn't formalized their last arrangements, but at least my mom had spoken to my Dad and me about what she'd like, when the time came. My family arranged for her funeral to be at Funeraria Del Angel Oxnard (at the time it was called something else), my dad wanted her buried at Conejo Mountain. The woman who helped us was great at her job. She thoroughly explained the process to us. Purchasing the land was completely separate from the cost of the actual funeral, so we had two pay each different amounts. Funeraria was where people came to pay their last respects, have prayers, wakes and receptions. On the day of my mom's funeral, Saturday, December 6th, 2008, after the funeral mass, the procession to Conejo Mountain started from Funeria Del Angel Oxnard. The staff at Conejo Moutain was great about accommodating us for that Saturday and made sure we had a tent and seats for the family members and closest of kin. They were informative, yet gentle and compassionate through it all. All I could remember was how much love, support and kindness surrounded us at one of the hardest moments of our life. My dad decided to purchase double plots so that he can be laid to rest with my mom, when his time passed. He was that impressed with all they had done. After the funeral, we didn't feel forgotten by Conejo Mountain. They continued to send us post cards and information on events happening there for years to come. To this day, I know that if I wanted to come see my mom, but pop into the main building to talk to someone, voice my concerns, ask for any additional information, that I will always be met with kindness, acceptance and respect. When I have come to see my mom during cold or rainy days, there is always someone out on a golf cart asking me if I needed anything, offering water, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The service here is amazing & quite exceptional. I feel very comfortable here and I know you will too, but you will especially feel comfortable laying a loved one to rest at a place like Conejo Mountain. read more

Recently I had three small stake metal butterflies placed in front of my grandmother's grave. I came back a week later and they were gone. Landscapers removed them because decorations are "not allowed" on gravesite premises. If I'm not allowed to have 3 tiny, discreet butterflies placed in front of my grandmother's grave, how is THIS allowed? This has been up for over 2 months now! I wish I didn't have to write this review but I do want to share the excellent experience we had here for other families in need. My 27 year old daughter passed away this year in Arizona and we brought her home to CA for her burial. From start to finish, everyone was super professional and accommodating. Erin & David were so helpful and patient with us. The location is absolutely beautiful at the base of the mountains where we have seen deer numerous times. It's just so peaceful and serene. I also love the groundskeepers. They're so friendly and always come by to say hello. Angel & Alex are especially kind and thoughtful. I appreciate knowing my daughter's gravesite is well taken care of. Additionally, friends and family were able to purchase flowers on their website where my daughters obituary was posted and every single arrangement came out so beautifully. He was good at listening to our needs and translating them into a very reasonable contract. Denny Clayton was a detailed and determined journeyman who provided very reliable information and services for a well-run graveside service at a reasonable price. The service crew was extremely patient and dependable. We literally had the run of the place for most of the day. No one pushed a timeline nor schedule even though we ran a little long. The chapel, lobby, banquet room and adjoining patio space were all very clean, well-kept and private. The cemetery location and view is other worldly. It is all so beautiful and peaceful. My parents were kind enough to plan and pre-pay for their own cremation and burial. My experience with Conejo Mtn following the death of my mom couldn't have gone better. They picked her up in a timely manner and shortly after made plans to meet with our family. Since she had made the decisions up front, all we needed was to set a date and time for her funeral and burial. At the funeral in one of the elegant chapels, the staff set up everything with no fuss and good taste. They were available when needed and disappeared otherwise. Well, my sister has been buried here for 40 years and my mother for 21 years. Yesterday we attempted to put flowers on their graves and my sister's vase was sunk a bit and covered by dirt. My mother's vase was missing and the cement container was filled with mud and water. I had intended to go to the office today and chat about these issues. I was digging for my sister's vase, and the groundskeeper saw me. He came right over and unearthed the vase as well as went and got me another vase for my mom's grave. I'm so grateful for that help! Conejo Mountain Funeral Home & Memorial Park assisted to create a service that was exactly right, what the deceased and his family wanted. In a pre-service email link it wasn't clear if we were invited to just the service or if we could attend the "family" reception afterward. Not being family only mere friends we blatantly ignored the "family" mentioned in the link to crash a light bite gracious gathering and no one tossed us out. It doesn't have to be here, but if you want to be remembered by something more than your Yelp page, a tad of advance planning seems right, right at any age. I made a request for a refund of goods and services as they relate to a piece of property I own there. Ms. Ramirez is employed as their Office Manager and took my call. She treated me with utmost respect and as a valued property owner. She was highly intelligent, knowledgeable, polite, courteous, informative, and conducted herself with professionalism, and integrity. Over the course of three days, she kept me up to date at every stage during the accounting procedures necessary to generate the refund. This kind of customer service is rarely seen in today's business world because it takes an incredible dedication to duty, coupled with an attitude of going above and beyond the scope of one's satisfactory job requirements in an attempt to make the customers experience a favorable, memorable, and lasting one. I just wanted to share our experience with Conejo Mountain Memorial Park. We recently lost a family member due to a sudden unexpected illness. As our family is spread out in various states, it was difficult to get together & make our arrangements. We were able to contact Conejo Mountain & with the help of Tina Ramirez, we were able to get everything done in one day. We were also able to make arrangements for our family to gather together all in one place, with the recommendations of their employee Tina. She listened to all our needs & gave us suggestions, to make this process much easier, during our difficult time. Beautiful location. My sister is buried here, in the rose garden. It is the worst and least preferred way to visit a loved one, but knowing she rests in such a beautiful place makes it a bit easier. We just concluded services for our mother here. Aside fr om the active rock quarry adjoining the property, the grounds are beautiful and serene, with mild weather and great views. The building facilities we used for the reception were very nice and the staff was very accommodating, bringing plenty of extra chairs for our group which overflowed onto the patio. Most importantly, Nick Rios, our funeral coordinator was exceptional, with plenty of patience as we repeatedly made revisions to our brochures and photo uploads. Ideally, it would be nice if costs were a bit lower, however, I believe it is pretty consistent with other funeral homes. read more

And I personally had never had to plan a celebration of life.I called Conejo Mountain I spoke to Tina Ramirez she was such a caring person, she helped me with what decisions I had to make. She was able to help me with the date I wanted to have the celebration of life. The staff was very helpfull from planning the service to having a little brunch afterwards in their banquet room and out door patio. We had friends and family come from all over and said what a beautiful and peaceful place this is. My family has used this cemetery since the 1960's, also quite a few friends are their as well, we were walking around looking to see where our grandparents were laid to rest, and this man came up on a golf cart, took us to the main office, he brought out a map that showed us where all of our family and friends were buried. We recently lost our 20 year old son. This has been such a tragic loss and difficult time for our family. I feel so fortunate that we chose Conejo Mountain for our son's service and final resting spot. It is a beautiful well maintained location.
