This is a cute place in a beautiful location but our vegan meal was very expensive. I had the vegan bowl (which was tasty) and added tofu and the tofu was and additional SEVEN DOLLARS.... Also online the vegan mousse shows as $8 but they charged me $12 for a tiny portion which was just ok as far as taste. I paid for one bowl, no drink, and two mousses and my bill was $54. The service was okay. With tip it was $64 with no drinks!!!! read more

We had the best lunch at Rebecca's today! My bf had the haddock cakes which came with a huge Caesar salad. I had the fish tacos which were super fresh. My accompanying salad was so big and i was full, so I took it with me. The waitstaff was very pleasant and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend Rebecca's! read more

Definitely impressed with the lunch menu and the unique variety of options. If you're looking for something better than a sandwich or are tired of fish and chips (is that possible?), then for sure give this a shot. We sat outside where there is lots of spaced out seating and umbrellas for those hot days. Service was pretty decent and prices were fair. If you want something beyond awesome, get the fish cakes. They make them with rice and curry and they're absolutely amazing. Comes with a pretty healthy portion of a nice garden salad. While we did give this place 4 stars, we were left disappointed by the Hawaiian fish tacos. We were pretty excited about them but they ended up being pretty bland which was a stark contrast to the fish cakes. Perhaps some pickled beets or even lemon dill sauce would give them a bit more flavour. I will say that the three tacos were a really good size (big enough to share) and the side salad was also pretty decent sized. Despite not being impressed with the tacos, I'm sure that this is still a really great place to eat and we'd give other menu items a shot. read more

I am a local and have eaten at Rebecca's several times. I have to say the quality of the food can be very inconsistent. This last time was the worst yet. In the past, I have enjoyed their falafel offering with the tzatziki sauce. This past time the meal was awful. Falafel was tasteless and the tzatziki tasted like mashed up feta cheese way to salty. The careworn cramped interior lined with local artist's canvases has bright pastel walls and antique furniture. The Italian tomato soup was particularly flavorful and fresh. The red-currant tart was certainly tart, but balanced by a drizzle of sweet red currant sauce and a heavier pastry closer to shortcake. The avocado mousse, frankly, had a little too much earthy flavor of avocado, but was creamy smooth and richly chocolate and it was a nice departure from the standard mousse. This is a great little restaurant. Very fresh food with unique recipes. We had the fish cakes, grilled cheese and soup of the day which was vegetable beef. The vegetable beef soup was puréed. There are trivia cards on the tables and the tables are chalk boards. Great for keeping everyone entertained while waiting. read more

I had the large seafood chowder and lobster bruschetta crostini (appetizer) for lunch. The chowder was divine, but a warning: a large is TOO MUCH. By the time I finished all the protein in my chowder (I had to leave a lot of potatoes behind), I was too full to eat the lobster crostini. Each chowder (small or large) comes with a smoked salmon-wrapped scallop in the bowl. Very nice and unique feature that to me was enough to justify the price ($8 for small and $12 for large). I did manage to have 1 crostini (it comes with 4), and the taste was good. I think it would have been better warmer. The restaurant was quaint and casual. They have an outdoor patio that overlooks Mahone Bay, but It was too cold to be out. The inside was nice and cozy though. Th service was friendly. You pay at the front and they accept cash debit or credit (although they do have signs around encouraging customers to pay by cash or debit (http://www.cfib.ca/debitcredit). I'm all for Rebecca's and wish them great success. The owners have done an exemplary job of trading up the boring interior of their new location for a colorful, interesting vibe. Great job on the renovations! The service at Rebecca's is prompt and responsive. The food needs some attention. The salad was beautifully presented but the dressing needed a little livening up. The sandwich I had was "slippery" and I didn't care for it at all. I will return to this place knowing that it will get much better as it goes along. It's a welcome larger restaurant for Mahone Bay and the repairs they are making to the building will make it as attractive on the outside as it is on the inside. ------ I went to Rebecca's at their NEW location a second time this summer. The decor at this location is finally living up to its potential and the inside of the restaurant is super pleasant. There is also a stone patio with a wonderful view of Mahone Bay. Still, based upon the comments of my fellow company of six, I think Rebecca needs to totally rethink the menu over the winter and opt for very high quality pub food reminiscent of the Knot Pub in Lunenburg. God knows the local pub is awful, Rebecca's sole Mahone Bay fine dining wannabe rival is mediocre at best, and the field is open for a really good BASIC food offering in Mahone Bay. Rebecca's now has a wonderful space and she can make it happen if she chooses. read more

Great location, great atmosphere, but unfortunate execution. It pains me to write this review, but I've got to be honest. I really wanted to love Rebecca's, but I expect a restaurant of Rebecca's stature to deliver amazing flavor. Unfortunately, our visit failed to achieve that expectation. Rebecca's has a homey, laid back feel that is warm and inviting. As you sit you down, you expect homestyle maritime fare with a refined flare, but we had all atmosphere and no flare. We wanted a light lunch, so we both ordered soups. I ordered the seafood chowder, and my fiancé ordered the tomato herb soup. Unfortunately, both dishes missed the mark. Although my seafood chowder contained lots of potatoes, a couple pieces of hearty haddock, and some lightly smoked salmon (one of which wrapped a scallop), the "creamy" broth tasted like basil water, which was really disappointing. In my mind, "creamy" means warm and rich flavors. My seafood chowder's broth lacked that depth of flavor. My fiancé's soup contained far too much balsamic, which caused her soup to taste like tangy ketchup rather than smooth, delicious tomato and herb soup. That was also disappointing. Although the execution was lacking, our server was extremely friendly and very attentive. We found her service to be top notch. I would like to give Rebecca's another chance to remedy its errors, but it will not be a priority. Rebecca's, we want to love you, but we need more. read more

We went to Rebecca's last year and it was excellent. It was recommended by a local. We went again this year and were not as pleased. The service was great and friendly. I loved that you could draw on the tables and the view was extraordinary. The food was not as pleasing. The fish cakes were decent and the salad was good. The vegetable wrap was not that good. It was sour and this taste overpowered the wrap. This was lunch- perhaps the menu is better for dinner. Even though I didn't enjoy my meal- the server gave it to me for 50% which I appreciated. Pretentious menu, underwhelming food. Elevating diner food and adding a creative touch should not result in the kind of prices you're charging. Also I was offered to sample a beer, then told there wasn't enough left in the keg to poor a pint anyways, then surprisingly charged for half the price of a pint for that sip sized foamy keg bottom sample. Nice spring day, great day for a drive... It was a Sunday and they are open from 1-3pm. We went in - cute restaurant, nice outdoor seating area with umbrellas. The menu was limited, it is a brunch menu. I never ever have a hard time finding something I like on the menu, but I sure did today. I ordered a veggie sandwich with seasonal veggies and apples and goat cheese. It was basically goat cheese with raw apple slices and a few caramelized onions covered with a baby lettuce mixture. The apples should have been caramelized - bland salad served with it. If you like eggs benny, that was an option. I wish it was the old restaurant that used to be there. They had these incredible scones and awesome seafood chowder. Things change, sometimes not for the better. I miss the old place. Good view, clean, service is fine. My meal was spot on. The service was great, the food was outstanding, but still reasonably priced. I had a burger and soup. For starters, the burger was one of the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection and full of flavours. The soup was easily one of the best bowls of soup I have had. Not only did it have a taste that would light up your mouth, but the cook even wrote "enjoy!" On the soup. I mean, who does that? It was awesome! My water was served in a cool authentic beer jug, and drink in a tall glass. The setting had great casual feel to it. Not to mention I am writing this on their free wifi! We picked this place because it was the last option on our way out of town (not much was available/open in Mahone Bay on the water). We weren't expecting much, coffee and a sandwich maybe. What we got was a delicious meal, impeccable service, and a clean, safe environment, all with a lovely view of the water. We had the seared halibut and the seared haddock and they were both off the charts good! The meals were also really big, we were stuffed to the brim, we didn't even need dinner once we got back to Halifax. The staff were lovely, with fast, efficient, and friendly service, all wearing masks and keeping all surfaces cleaned. Perfect end to a lovely day out and about, highly recommend. read more

I'm a big fan of restaurants who try to support their local farms for their ingredients, so I was pulled into Rebecca's on this premise alone. However, once inside, I was delighted to find a back deck with a wonderful view of the bay. On a rainy day, however, I would still have been happy to sit indoors - it was brightly decorated and cozy. Service was friendly, though the food slooooow in coming, and, at the end, we were forgotten and had to go retrieve the check from the front of the house. Portions were much smaller than I hoped, though the flavor of the food was good. The deck could really use high-top tables. As it stands now, you feel like you are in a cage because the railing is built quite high and you have to look through wooden bars. With such a wonderful pristine view of the bay, the owners really missed the boat (no pun intended) on this one with building that railing so high, and then investing in cheap patio furniture that keeps you down low to the ground. read more

I've now been to Rebecca's twice and enjoyed both meals. The deck view is fabulous and makes the meal even more enjoyable. I love their mix matched dish ware and the trivial pursuit cards on the table. Their bacon, potato, pork soup was fantastic, unfortunate it was the special of the day so not on the regular menu Breakfast is also very good. I'd definitely recommend a meal here if you are visiting Mahone Bay. read more
