Outdoor fire pit by the water is just out of fram picnic tables and a smaller menu selection.

We have eaten here twice now. We have yet to try the outdoor fire pit by the water next to the picnic tables and a smaller menu selection. But as the sun fades it looks very inviting. We enjoyed the upstairs patio with a great view of the harbour. The indoor option is comfortable and offers privacy to take in the scenery with great vibes. The menu is what you expect in Nova Scotia. We tried fish and chips, crab dip, garlic shrimp and baguette, tea biscuits, bacon wrap scallops, seafood chowder, fish tacos, pan fried haddock, lobster roll, open face tuna melt, seafood pasta and the steak diner. I recommend the tea biscuits, bacon scallops, steak and the seafood pasta. (Noting that the veggies flavour was lacking but if you like a quick boil then you may enjoy them) The owners are gracious and welcoming along with the staff!! Servers are always on the move. The atmosphere is pristine, spectacular, relaxing, fun and worth the experience. The design and placement of the clear panels to provide social distancing is so sleek it actually adds to the experience. It maintains an open concept feeling. Not closed in!! Perhaps the kitchen space is limited for the volume of service they are offering? There was a long wait between appetizers which arrived hot and main course near an 60 minutes later confusingly arrived barley warm... the fish seasoning was nil. Sauces were creamy. And although we have not found a dish that will leave us wanting more.. we will return to Tuna Blue (and recommend it to you) Prices range from 14$ to 32$ if I do recall

We had a great evening at Tuna Blue last weekend! Our reservation with a large table of friends was just before Ssunset, and we sat outside on the covered patio and it was beyond spectacular, honestly one of the best sunset views in the province. The night was getting cool but their patio heaters made everybody very comfortable. I was impressed with the delicious and inexpensive cocktails, and we all enjoyed our meals. The restaurant was busy but our servers were attentive and gave some great menu suggestions. My husband and I split the spinach salad and fish and chips, the servings were generous and we probably could have shared with another person! All was delicious. My friend got the fish tacos and really enjoyed them too. It was a really fun, lively, typical East Coast Hospitality vibe...can't wait to return next summer!

One attraction sign on the main Highway through Hubbards shows them, but not any directions. This establishment would benefit from a few well-placed signs to get tourists down. The building is unassuming in the front. It is accessible which is great. There's an ice cream hut in the parking lot and a counter on the left when you enter for off-season ice cream service. This is an old schoolhouse so it's HUGE inside and the bar is very open. A small step leads out the back door to a massive patio. Seating up top or below with multiple options. Sun or shade. Couch or chairs. Lots of options with fire pits, too. Surprising we have never heard of this place and only recently discovered them on social media; they just celebrated their 5th anniversary! You can't buy their products at the NSLC but they do ship across Canada. The list of cocktails is extensive. While I'm not a fan of flavoured drinks, I could not resist a fun flight on a hot September day. Super reasonably priced and crafted with care. The Funhouse was definitely fun with a shark in the glass and topped with cotton candy. Surprisingly not too sweet! Samples of their spirits are free and I highly recommend the gin which we ended up buying a bottle of. Service was super friendly, engaging and overall effective. A great place for large groups. The entire establishment is dog friendly. Only downside here is some of the labels are a little bit tacky but that's pretty minor.

This place is a refreshing addition to the number of restaurants in Kentville. The food is phenomenal. The owner who are super friendly and welcoming, makes sure to have local produce and food items included in their menu, like the locally grown delicious mushrooms, or locally raised beef/pork. Not your typical taqueria but great atmosphere, delicious food. You can have your pick of taco, quesadilla, burrito, in a bowl, or salad, or even in a bag of chips! Every dish is different as you can choose whatever protein and toppings you'd like. Their homemade sauces/salsas are also very good along with the local nova Scotian hot sauces available to add to your taco/burrito/quesadilla for that added extra zing. Aside from the food, they also have a very good drink menu. Real good thirst-quenching margaritas that you can get in different flavors as well. They have also partnered with a local brewery to come up with their own brew - the mexican lager. Every visitor we get, I make sure to bring them to this place and everyone always says they love the food. If you are in kings county, make sure you stop by and get your fill of their delicious food!

The bar menu is amazing with so many local options as well as 0% choices. Order food and drinks at the counter - no table service. Love that the space is accessible and easy to get in and out of. Very cozy, intimate environment with an energetic crowd the night I went. Mostly bar seating although there are about 4-5 tables - the most you could probably seat are four people. Had a couple of cocktails - amazing. Food was mostly seafood and extremely fresh, prepared well and innovative - see pictures. Price was reasonable for food of this quality. Will definitely return. Tip - you should probably make reservations. There's a patio in the Summer as well

I'd been living in Dartmouth for a couple months before I finally made my first visit (cut me some…read moreslack, unpacking takes time!), with my wife and I stopping by after work on a Friday. I'd call it happy hour, but Dear Friend is too popular and upscale to bother offering a happy hour, so let's go with the Quebecois term, cinq à sept. I began my weekend wind-down with one of their house creations, All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down). It seemed fitting giving my age demographic, and it was one of the few specialty cocktails with whisk(e)y in it. With an ingredient list even longer than its irreverent title, it combines Jim Beam rye, Hennessey VS cognac, beef tallow (!!), cedar and bayberry leaf. After an impressive rundown from the bartender on the work that went into creating this drink, I thoroughly appreciated it's warmth and depth of flavour on a cool fall evening. The beef tallow made for a velvety smooth mouthfeel, without having globs of fat floating in the drink, and the cedar and bayberry added herbal undertones that contributed without overpowering. For some solid sustenance, we stuck to the bar bites section of the menu, although they do have bigger apps and full-size entrees. Marinated olives were an easy choice, while the falafels beckoned with their deep-fried crispness. To round out our trio, we had to go with the house Party Mix. The Party Mix came out first, and deviates from the classic chip mix by combining sweet and savoury, with caramel popcorn, spiced cashews and mini chocolate truffles. It was endlessly snackable, and great for having a drink at the bar over great conversation with your significant other. I'm not one for the standard black or green olives that come out of ungodly large food service containers, but I've been slowly warming up to higher tier olives, and Dear Friend's very generous bowl was a great bar snack, bordering on small meal. The dish that disappeared the quickest was the falafels. This was partially because they were so damn good and there waere four pieces, as opposed to the other two dishes. They came in finger-form, as opposed to the small pucks/balls that are more commonly seen, and the extra surface area allowed for an even crispier bite, while a delicious cashew tahini cream that lent to the familiar falafel flavour, but with a certain je ne sais quoi. That's right, French twice in one review - I'm fancy AF! Small bits of pickled cauliflower and a delicate layer of microgreens brought brighter flavours to play off the richer note of the falafel and tahini. It's now a local cliché to talk about how much downtown Dartmouth has changed over the past decade or so, and Dear Friend has been one of the standard bearers of that continued change these past few years with their thoughtfully crafted beverages and shareable bites.

If you read their website former dairy farmers turned lobster restaurant cooks on weekends. The location did not have live music on Sunday. You get the funny bib if you want and the lobster meal for $44 with mussels and unlimited salad and rolls or $39 without the mussels but unlimited salad and rolls. The lobster was rather corny in taste, they were not over cooked and pretty nice. The mussels they tasted like the standard grocery store ones- apparently from farmed source. The waiters and waitresses frequently visited to check on us and empty out buckets. The meal also came with two dessert options and self serve coffee/tea. The experience- was nice but pricey and a bit touristy. It was sadden that the unlimited salad bar actually lacked green salad or spinach- which I was sort of craving. They generally had a selection of mayonnaise based salads- look at my photo. But some selection- but I didn't see anything fun like crab salad. The machine auto request for 15% tip, so if you're not a fan of being told what to tip be sure to manually adjust it. Washroom is located in the main floor and the lower floor. Water was self serve- which I thought was odd since the servers were visiting frequently already.
