    Portobello mushroom burger

We found this place through Taste of Nova Scotia, culinary guide. It's a small restaurant near Peggy's Cove and worth a stop. Please make reservations, they get busy. We made reservation in the same day for dinner and got it but had to reschedule which they very kindly did. Jana our server was very kind and respectful, and got us started with biscuits and butter while we waited for our entrees. They have few vegetarian options of which we tried Portobello mushroom burger with fries and Agliolio. Both were flavorful. We also got a lemonade and an old fashioned, the drinks could use some refinement, both felt a little watery. For the desserts, we had pecan square with vanilla ice cream and rhubarb custard pie. Both were drool worthy . Pecan square paired exceptionally well with the coffee. A very good find. Reservation recommended

Came to lunch here with my mom and sisters while vacationing in the area. The view was great, the food was amazing but we did have to wait for a long time for our food.

Shishito pepper cocktail, ice tea and view in the distance

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant after touring Peggy's Cove. The name caught our attention, and it turns out my husband had been to the on-site resort, Oceanside for a friends wedding. The groom told us he thought the restaurant had changed hands a few times since - but we decided to pay homage to our friends, stay for dinner and enjoy the view. Luckily we arrived before the major dinner push and were able to eat outside on the covered patio. They had a shoshito pepper cocktail that blew my mind - 10 more please! Sooo unique, a little spicy and perfect for my pallet. Very pleased! My lobster roll looked very fancy but wasn't my favorite. I was glad to have the tomato soup as my side. My husband liked his fish and chips and we were too full for desert. Great find!

    Haddock Stew

Best Lobster Roll I had in Nova Scotia! Haddock Stew was also great. Reservations needed.

Never had a lobster roll quite like this before!

Another restaurant that lived up to the hype on Yelp! We came here for a late lunch (around 1:30) on our way to Peggy's Cove, and were seated promptly. Great views and very friendly service. I had the lobster roll ($23) and it was probably the freshest lobster I've had. It was plated in a very interesting way (see pic) and was delicious in a light, herby mayo dressing with green onions and celery for some crunch. On the menu it said "Ryer's lobster" and I wondered what that meant...until we drove by Ryers lobster pound right down the road. No wonder it was so fresh! I had chowder as my side for a small additional charge. It was good, but a very light broth with a bunch of veggies in it. Just something to know if you prefer creamier chowders. My husband had the fishcakes ($17) and said they were tasty as well. Finally, do not leave without getting some shortbread for dessert or to go. Yum!

Amazing We dove by to the light house at Peggy cove and knew we had to back. What a real treat ! Christine sat us by a window looking at the water and it the amazing service continued. We got a beet salad with toasted goat cheese we ate it before we could take a picture ! Fish and chips for me and so not greasy and the tarter sauce tasted home made ! My husband did the haddock stew again such a bowl.giant pieces of fish and carrots .... Desert was this chocolate pate topped with whip cream and brittle and just so salted and good. Also the biscuits were amazing Christine helped with so much and another server had more wonderful insider road trips !!

French toast. Not very sweet and delicious!

What is Acadian food? Well, for us it was fish cakes, meat pie, and rappie bites. Most of the menu…read morewas Acadian, as identified by a French flag next to the item. If those don't appeal , there are a small number of standards like fish&chips, lobster roll, and poutine. My l'Acadie Fishcakes were made from salt fish (cod?) from Nova Scotia, expertly pan-fried. The portion was reasonable - though they were so good I could have eaten a third. They were served without a sauce (not needed), accompanied by house-made baked beans and marinated carrots. The sides were no afterthought either; the red beans were baked (not overbaked) in a flavorful sauce, and the carrots, thinly sliced, were sweet and tangy. The wife got the l'Acadie Meat Pie: a 1/4 portion of a round pie. The filling was the shredded meat, a blend of chicken, beef, and pork (!), seasoned with garlic and spices. This was inside what was described as a biscuit crust. Overall this was very good, not heavy like a meat pie can be, and not dry - but if you find it so there is the au jus gravy on the side. We didn't find it necessary. This pie was served with an excellent Caesar Salad. We split an order of Rappie Bites, which is a way to experience rappie pie in appetizer form. A filling made from grated potatoes and ground chicken, formed into golf-sized balls and deep fried. Interesting. I was expecting a firmer texture like a hush puppy which they resembled but the filling in these were soft and contained by the slightly crispy crust (of bread crumbs?) Unlike the bites which are always available, the pie is a specialty, available only on Sunday, and advance reservations are recommended to guarantee you can get it. I haven't had it in pie form and would maybe try it, but the meat pie was so good I might end up getting that again instead. I had a local cider to drink. Several local craft beers were available as well as wine. I don't remember if liquor was available. There were several desserts but we didn't try them. The only one specifically identified as Acadian was the Pouding Chômeur, described as a dumpling-like cake batter which caramelizes when baked, in a homemade maple sauce. Also ginger molasses cake, maple bread pudding, apple crisp, and strawberry shortcake - with the biscuits made in-house. As I am writing this they all sound so good I wish we had tried one - or more!

Took a minivan taxi out there on a four-hour tour. Stopped at a maple syrup / rest stop, an art shop in a mansion on the water, and a lobster wholesaler who showed us various sizes of lobster. Finally made it to PC, took some pictures, and then figured we'd have a Lobster Roll from the food truck. Taste: Light mayo, nice discernible chunks, soft bun roll for $17.99CAD plus tax - around $20CAD. Some chips accompanying the roll. Fresh and tasty. They also have lobster congee / Jook / porridge for $7.99CAD plus tax. Ambiance: Near Peggy's Cove, waves hitting the rocks, truck on the side of the road, high stand-up and eat wood picnic table. Cars and tour busses passing you by while you chow down on a roll. Value: Going rate for about four ounces of lobster. Could have benefited with some more chips. Overall: Tied for number one in our gastronomic journey of lobster rolls. Nice chunks on a tasty bread roll.

If you read their website former dairy farmers turned lobster restaurant cooks on weekends. The location did not have live music on Sunday. You get the funny bib if you want and the lobster meal for $44 with mussels and unlimited salad and rolls or $39 without the mussels but unlimited salad and rolls. The lobster was rather corny in taste, they were not over cooked and pretty nice. The mussels they tasted like the standard grocery store ones- apparently from farmed source. The waiters and waitresses frequently visited to check on us and empty out buckets. The meal also came with two dessert options and self serve coffee/tea. The experience- was nice but pricey and a bit touristy. It was sadden that the unlimited salad bar actually lacked green salad or spinach- which I was sort of craving. They generally had a selection of mayonnaise based salads- look at my photo. But some selection- but I didn't see anything fun like crab salad. The machine auto request for 15% tip, so if you're not a fan of being told what to tip be sure to manually adjust it. Washroom is located in the main floor and the lower floor. Water was self serve- which I thought was odd since the servers were visiting frequently already.
