Sim is…read morea 4th or 5th degree black belt and you won't know it because he doesn't wear his stripes on his belt. He's probably the most humble BJJ professor I've ever met. I've never heard him talk down to anyone and he talks to EVERYONE with respect and kindness. He also still competes and wins! He has a group of competitors that smashes the competition and still so humble. The atmosphere when you step into the school/gym is chill vibes. You don't have to wear certain color gi's or the school gi. The team is awesome also, everyone is cool and chill. No one's trying to prove themselves and hurting other teammates. They're also great teammates by helping and giving advice. To me, I feel more like a family member than just another number coming in the doors. I have random conversations with Sim and it's not always about jiu jitsu. He cares about everyone and everyone's growth. There's a good amount of classes and several different times of day so more people can train accordingly to their busy schedules, Gi and no Gi. Ive met so many amazing people here from law enforcement to doctors, nurses, and other professionals of all ages and backgrounds. It's close to the 215 and rainbow so quick access to the freeway. There's a clean restroom and also clean showers! A lot of people come in their lunch break and then shower before they go back to work, super convenient! I definitely recommend this school/gym to everyone young and old, male or female, and they have a great kids class also! The price of membership is also less than majority of the schools in Vegas and not as good. Try a class and then sign up for 6 months (best deal & free gi) or just drop in when visiting. I say all this so to give context that I have been around, trained and met the best of them and this is where I chose to train when I was in Las Vegas. Mica is the person who brought jiu jitsu to Las Vegas, he is the OG. He's an excellent instructor as "close to the source" as you'll find. Amazing techniques encompassing everything from modern leg lock games to the stuff Helio and Carlos worked on in Brasil. The facility is world class, with two giant mat areas, every class has a world champion and at least 5 black belts. You will probably be the rest round in this house, everyone kicked my butt. Giant lockers for make and females, showers, cars are in a safe space. I checked out all the academies, did internal references, and I can honestly say you won't find better.

I trained under Coach Dustin for the last 3 years before moving to Illinois, and I can't say enough…read moregood things about him or the academy. The technical instruction is outstanding, whether you're brand new to jiu jitsu or preparing for any level of competition. Safety is always the top priority, but the training is still tough and pushes you to improve every day. What really sets this gym apart is the culture. It truly feels like a family. Coach Dustin invests in the people who invest in their training. He traveled with me to competitions, gave his time outside of normal class hours, and was always willing to help me improve. That level of dedication is hard to find. One thing I always appreciated was that class didn't just end because the clock hit a certain time. If people were still getting rounds in, Coach Dustin would stay until everyone finished unless he genuinely had somewhere to be. It showed how much he cared about giving his students every opportunity to train. I left Las Vegas because of a move, and leaving this academy was the hardest part. I made lifelong friends here and became a much better grappler because of Coach Dustin and everyone at Kuleana/Cobrinha GV. It's right off the 215 and Gibson exit, which makes it super easy to access. I'm currently making my way towards my bachelor's degree in criminal justice at UNLV, on track to graduate next fall, so this class was a perfect opportunity to work with Metro and what to expect when I begin a career in the criminal justice field. Can I just say that I got in a much well needed workout here? Being the big workout nerd I am, this class was extremely useful for me and I learned new moves and techniques to use anytime I'm in danger or when I feel threatened. This was an all-female self defense class, which I truly appreciated. We were introduced to one of the owners of Gracie Barra, Rafaela (I think that's how you spell her name), who guided us step after step to each self-defense workout. Some moves were easy, some moves were a little difficult and confusing than others. Other instructors went around and helped us every step of the way. My fitness levels are at a good standing and I was told by my self-defense partner that I had excellent strength, mostly in my thighs. With the conclusion of the class, everyone that attended was offered one free week of jiu-jitsu classes, plus we all got a goodie bag from LVMPD. I'm returning next week to attend one of these classes and I can't wait! Looking forward to it!
