Walked in, got accepted as a walk-in, and had a cut with David, great guy. I've been doing my own cuts for years, so it was nice to actually sit in a chair again. Fyi the shop is a little hidden, although I found that part kind of fun, a little exploration in a town I didn't know was nice for a change. It's behind the Duffy rental dock. If you're on Main Street, pull in and keep going toward the dock, there's parking there. Inside, it's quiet and chill. Oscar, the owner, was great to talk to. The place overall had very welcoming vibes, not standoffish or "too cool". A mom was leaving with her two boys as I walked in. I'd bring my son here for a haircut for sure, which might be soon. As a small business owner myself I understand that certain communication is easier. I texted and was given a response on pricing. I wanted a Barber for my husband. They cut hair and trim beards. To find out they aren't one was extremely odd. It literally says Barbershop in their name!!! Beard trims only and they only accept certain types of payments where they don't charge tax. So, we've got the wrong website, they aren't a barbershop and in the text sent back to me I was told that they don't do African American hair. Anyone who is trained professionally is trained in African American hair. I was stunned by this because it's obviously racist. This is a choice by their shop. I replied that while my husband and are both white we'd prefer a more diverse place. The response I got was, "Try Supercuts.. And with a smiley face emoji! I asked for the person's name hoping it was an employee who was behaving this way and not management but I've yet to hear back.

The guy that replied (Sebastian) determined that I was black somehow and made it clear they weren't as experienced with cutting black hair. By this time I was already omw to the shop and it was getting late in the day so I didn't want to cancel. Plus I've lived in Mexico and have had my hair cut by plenty on barbers not experienced with cutting my hair. My hair is easy to cut and I made it clear to him. The address is not listed on their site but I was able to locate it here on Yelp and apparently the shop is at the District. Once I arrived I had the hardest time trying to locate the shop. I texted that I was having issues finding the shop and did not receive a reply. Finally after speaking with someone I found the shop and arrived late. Sebastian told me immediately he couldn't cut my hair because I was late and that he has 20 min interval cuts. I mentioned to him that I texted him that I was having issues locating the shop and that he did not reply or assist at anytime. In hindsight he never proactively provided instructions finding the location. There was also a guy in his seat and from the looks of it he had to have been cutting his hair for over, at least, 10 mins already. It was obvious this guy did not want my business due to his lack skills and confidence as a barber. Plus "if" he's pumping out $30 cuts in 20 mins I would highly recommend not seeing this guy regardless. This guy nearly ruined my evening with making dinner plans. I would highly recommend not seeing this guy in particular. Kudos to Justin the Barber saving my day.
