Who are they serving and how in God's name do they cut down a tree with baby owls in it?

One of the people there was being a total creep to my daughter! She was just trying to go to the bathroom. Second of all the workers freaked me and my kiddos out. Also, it rained and my campsite was completely flooded. There was a giant dent in the ground which it got flooded. We couldn't even get a refund on our camp! I do NOTICE recommend this camp. Me and my family will NEVER return!!

I visited in the winter to see the falls frozen over, and the park rangers had done an excellent job keeping the trail well maintained. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the waterfall, and there's very little elevation change along the way. North Rim trail entrance was close during winter due to ice and snow. But you can skip the dangerous part of the trail by parking at the Taughannock Falls overlook point and start hiking from there. Then you will reach the upper falls. Parking is only $10. lot is small so warmer weather probably will fill up pretty quickly.

I thought it was a fairly easy 1 mile hike out to the falls (though my coworker vehemently disagrees that 1 mile and easy belong in the same sentence - sorry Miss Sheila!), and there were some falcons swooping around. There is a fee to park, but were still spots remaining when we arrived. We should have received discounted parking with a Military ID, but the booth was unmanned that day, so we paid anyway. There is a restroom facility at the parking lot, and it wasn't bad. I actually think it was heated, so that was nice. I'd be interested in seeing the falls and hiking the upper trail when the weather is better!

It's just kind of epic with the moss. It has like a micro climate to it where it gets a little bit temperate rainforest with ferns and moss and it's just beautiful. I think there's four routes total. It's basically the upper and lower gorge or the upper and lower rim trails. We have the dog we're feeling kind of tired so we did the upper trail which is like under a mile and it takes you straight to the Falls and some epic sites. I honestly haven't done the lower trail but it's on my bucket list. It's 3 miles. I've can't come here as a tourist previously and just wanted to go for the I guess the money shot as its called definitely recommend.

If you want to make it a more fulfilling day for the kids, Cole Park is only a hop & a skip away from world famous Animal Adventure Park. A wonderful day is in store for you with a swim, picnic, and a visit with an amazing menagerie of exotic animals. I highly recommend Cole Park for the entire family. Have big fun!

There is swimming for about 40 feet in, and then there are boat and kayak rentals for the rest of the lake. Let me tell you something - Kayaks aRe fun! You can go so fast in them. I towed both my friends with my kayak last time, they are wimps! Boats are pretty boring to me, I could never get the oars right. Oh, as of last year, kayak and boat rentals are free. wait... FREE! Even 1 dollar is a deterrant based on principle. Here it is so easy. So THIS is where my tax dollars are going... 5 stars for free kayaks. Love kayaks.

The grass is well-maintained and perfect for laying out a blanket. There are coal fired grills available. There's also a basketball hoop (not a full court) and a jogging/biking path. You can rent kayaks and cross a pedestrian bridge over the creek that runs through it. They also have a bird watching trail. There are public restrooms, which were clean but out of toilet paper and soap when I visited. Great place to enjoy the outdoors solo or with friends and family.

The adults in our group also had some fun on the playground, since there weren't too many other groups when we visited. Along the lake, there are a good number of benches for sitting, including bench swings. The main path of the park is paved, so it makes for easy walking, stroller pushing, little kid biking/scooting, etc. We liked this park so much that we came here twice on our short vacation. I would definitely recommend it for families with young children who need to burn off some energy.

I wasn't letting him in the water anywhere else (I definitely want to be respectful of the main beach area and any swimmers), and he's always on leash when we visit, but I was followed around (from one end of the park to the other) by a member of the park staff during that previous visit with him They could never tell me what I was doing that they didn't like, but they kept trying to usher me out of wherever I was. We ended up walking our dog over to the tree house overlook and the views of the gorge and the water below were genuinely breathtaking. Along the way, we made time to check out Brooks Coal Mine which is an interesting piece of history. It's a small, shallow mind that was built more than 100 years ago and I love that there is a memorial there to all the coal miners who have lost their lives working in the mine. We walked through shaded paths and green spaces taking in the scenery and just really enjoying the vibes here. There were lots of trees and greenspace with quiet benches and so many things to look at. We actually got really excited when we spotted a bug that we had never seen before. I added a photo below and maybe I sound like a crazy person but I'm not from this area. I learned afterwards that it was a spotted lantern fly. Apparently that's not a great thing for the ecosystem and they're kind of a n invasive pest, but you learn something new everyday right? I honestly wish we had planned for more time at the park itself, but we did stay for about an hour and really enjoyed our walk and the fact that our dog was having such a lovely time here. I still feel like there was more for us to see. Parking was easy and entry was free. If you are in the area and just want to stretch your legs or take in the beautiful nature, this is definitely a place to check out.
