The scenery is postcard level, and the parking and picnic facilities are outstanding. If you want to make it a more fulfilling day for the kids, Cole Park is only a hop & a skip away from world famous Animal Adventure Park. A wonderful day is in store for you with a swim, picnic, and a visit with an amazing menagerie of exotic animals. I highly recommend Cole Park for the entire family. Have big fun!

There is swimming for about 40 feet in, and then there are boat and kayak rentals for the rest of the lake. Let me tell you something - Kayaks aRe fun! You can go so fast in them. I towed both my friends with my kayak last time, they are wimps! Boats are pretty boring to me, I could never get the oars right. Oh, as of last year, kayak and boat rentals are free. wait... FREE! Even 1 dollar is a deterrant based on principle. Here it is so easy. So THIS is where my tax dollars are going... 5 stars for free kayaks. Love kayaks.

It was 1 mile each way (from the parking lot to near the base of the falls). The trail was relatively flat and shaded for parts of it (but not all). There were a few benches along the way to take breaks, and water at the beginning of the trail to fill up your water bottle. It costs $10/car to get into the state park but you can use that ticket to get into other state parks on the same day without paying again, which would be great to visit nearby Buttermilk Falls and other parks.

The highlight of the park - and its namesake - is Taughannock Falls, a 215-foot plunge waterfall. That's what we were there to see, but let me explain more about the park. The park crosses Taughannock Boulevard. On one side of the road, is the park of the park with lots of amenities: the marina, boat launches, a beach, a concession stand, bathrooms, a playground, and more. We were there on the morning of the Fourth of July, so lots of families were setting up for a fun day for the holiday: picnics, beach, boat day, etc. On the other side of Taughannock Boulevard is the waterfall and several trails. There is one parking lot by the trails, which was already full when arrived around 9am on Saturday, which was the Fourth of July, but we parked near the entrance on the other side of the park and walked over to the trail. There is signage requiring cars on Taughannock Boulevard to stop for pedestrians; it felt safe to cross. We took a little walk around the side of the park with the amenities, but we were there for the falls. We walked along the Gorge Trail - a .95 mile trail that is very flat. While not paved, it was a flat, wide dirt path, making it much more of a walk than a hike. Compared to other parks with falls in the area, it really doesn't feel like you're *in* a gorge, but you do walk along Taughannock Creek. But it's not quite as beautiful of a trail as some others in the area. But we were for the waterfall, which is incredible. It's worth a sweaty walk (it was a hot, hot day) to get to. We took a million pictures, watched the hawks flying over the falls, and took in the falls for as long as we could before heading back along the Gorge Trail. (Unlike other parks nearby, the Gorge Trail doesn't connect to the other trails, so you have to return on the same trail.) It might not be my favorite of the state parks we visited during our time in the Finger Lakes, but the waterfall is stunning and well worth a visit. It's also a great option for anyone who wants to visit a waterfall but isn't up for a more challenging hike, as the Gorge Trail is extremely flat and easy!

Unfortunately, there…read moreare a lot of people that ruin it because they bring they're unsocialized and untrained dogs. The saddest part is it's mostly the volunteers that have the untrained dogs. My dog was attacked by a volunteers dog and unfortunately people struggle with taking responsibility. It's truly sad because it would be a great park otherwise. I would not recommend bringing your dog here. :/

Worlds End is another fantastic state park in Pennsylvania! There are a lot of sights to see and…read morethings to do. Unfortunately, the weather interfered with our ability to see as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time! There is a nice visitor center with a variety of historic and nature info available, including some great info on the CCC work that took place in the park (there's a really nice interactive model of a CCC camp too) and how and where the park name is suspected to have been derived from. There is a real snake to look at, as well. A very nice playground is located nearby, and this section of the park also offers easy access to the Loysalsock Creek and the beach with a snack bar, plus multiple picnic tables and shelterhouses. It's beautiful even just to look at the valley walls and the creek itself. There are several gorgeous vistas available, some by foot and some by foot or car. We especially liked the Loyalsock Canyon Vista, which can be reached on foot or by car. It is located next to the Rock Garden, which is a very neat grouping of giant rocks and boulders that is a lot of fun to check out. The park also offers camping and plenty of trails. Worlds End is located within the Loyalsock State Forest, so there is also a lot more that one could explore in the area.

Who are they serving and how in God's name do they cut down a tree with baby owls in it?

A beautiful wooded area with rock formations, a shallow creek, and plenty of spots to stop and take in the scenery. The water is crystal clear, and it's fun to hop across the rocks or just sit and listen to the stream. The stairs definitely provide a workout, but they're well worth it for the views and the experience. It feels surprisingly secluded even though you're close to civilization. We also appreciated how clean and natural the area felt. A portable poty is on site. Plenty of parking. A pavilion and playground are also available. Wear sturdy shoes since some sections can be rocky or slippery near the water. Whether you're hiking for exercise, taking photos, or just looking for a quiet place to relax, Stair Park is a great local escape.

I personally remember running a 5k road race here in the park. Good place to relax have fun in the playground which is big and awesome. Swings for two along the waterfront to watch a sunset. That said, I'll probably only visit during the off season (early spring or after Labor Day by a bit). I came here once with my dog and they're apparently very specific about dogs ONLY being in a little beach area. I wasn't letting him in the water anywhere else (I definitely want to be respectful of the main beach area and any swimmers), and he's always on leash when we visit, but I was followed around (from one end of the park to the other) by a member of the park staff during that previous visit with him They could never tell me what I was doing that they didn't like, but they kept trying to usher me out of wherever I was. Very weird and uncomfortable.
