I was excited to have an employee owned garbage/recycling company for our house service! But my experiences were mixed and now so absurd it is almost funny. I moved from the home I was renting in Vallejo in August and then received a bill in January. They said it was sorted out and would only charge the small amount due from the time period I lived at the home, and if for some reason it took the full amount they could refund it easily. Ok, cool. One month later the full (large) bill was indeed debited from my bank account. I immediately sent them a screenshot from my bank showing the debit. I also called them. I was replied to that they just needed a valid address to send the refund check to. Ok, cool. One month later I still had not received anything and was notified of a bill -$170. I also can no longer access my online account to actually view the bill. I email again asking for the status of the refund check and was told they have my address and it will arrive in 10-14 business days. ...ok. One month later it's been 20 business days and still no check. But I did just receive notification of a bill -$20. ...ok. I mean honestly 3 months to sort out a refund of a payment that should never have been debited is pretty ridiculous. I'm sad and unimpressed. read more

This is what happens when there is no other choice in the industry. The driver's do OK at their job but how hard is it to drive a truck, press a button, it picks up and dumps the trash. It would be nice if they wouldn't leave the can in the middle of the driveway entrance. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. The problem I have is their customer service center. I called and was on hold for 16 minutes, someone answered and then immediately hung up. So I called back. Another 15 minute hold, and they hung up AGAIN! I'm trying to call to stop service since I was fortunate enough to move away from their area and that is NOT found in their FAQs that their auto-attendant constantly tells you to use. You don't have a choice but to use Recology. Sad. If they had to compete on their customer service they'd go out of business. read more

They just suck!! The office people are rude. It doesn't matter how kindly you speak to them. The trash randomly doesn't get picked up. If you call for a bulky pick up they will tell you they will be there but 4 days later and probably a dozen phone calls later it might happen. This isn't a one and done. This is the company that picks up our curbside recycling. Whenever I've had reason to call them, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bonus - found a car battery on the side of the road, Recology took it for free (along with old not working microwave). And, interestingly enough, one of the workers told me that there is more recyclables reclaimed when garbage/recyclable is mixed together and workers manually sort it (because people don't accurately sort their recyclables). This morning, garbage day, I was greeted by finding that someone had put 2 carpet rolls in my garbage bin. I called the Recology Office and they recommended that I remove the carpet and request one of my free "pickups" to have the carpet removed. Nonsense! Why should I use one of my free "pick ups" when it's not my garbage? The Recology representative referred to the "pick up" as a "courtesy". When dealing with supervisor Jeff Kruljac who I may add is very unprofessional and extremely childish I do not understand how he can be in a position of authority when he has absolutely no respect for the people who are paying for his salary yes the reason for me calling and making a complaint today was because my trash didn't get picked up the wind blew the lid open so the lid was touching my car that's the reason why the driver decided not to pick it up mind you this is now within a six-month period about the 15th time I had issues with the garbage man who picks up the trash from my house i call to make a complaint to find out what's going on obviously something malicious then I get put on the phone with a childish temper tantrum throwing supervisor of the drivers Jeff who after I made the complaint and them saying that it was my fault that the wind blew the lid open and it was touching the car that there was nothing that they could do about it and they wanted me to either pay or use my once-a-year courtesy pick up I called and made a complaint with his supervisor Tom Phillips I'm still waiting to hear back I'll finish this review after I come to a conclusion read more

I am a home business person and found out my gray garbage can was picked up on my garbage day and taken away. I called the office about the issue I had and found out it was closed. I went to the recology office area and it to was closed. I then preceded to blow my horn near the gate where the garbage trucks are parked and got the attention of the the general manager named Mr. Phillips, I told him what my situation was and he was very concerned. He told me possibly he could send someone to drop off my garbage can . I thanked him for the concern of my issue and preceded to go back home and hope for the best. Saturday morning I hear a rolling garbage can sound and low and behold, it was the general manager Mr. Phillips rolling a brand new 2021 clean as a whistle new can into my backyard. I was smiling like I hit the lotto LOL, in my home business, a garbage can is like air we need, please believe that LOL. Thanks a whole lot Mr. Phillips you made my weekend! read more

Open Letter to Tom Phillips - General Manager Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Hello Tom, I am a resident in Vallejo. I called this week to schedule a special pickup for some trash at my home. The woman who answered both yesterday and today named Lisa (I didn't get a last name) informed me that there is a rule that you won't pickup any "bags" larger than 32 gal and 30 lbs. I understand the need to to set standards, however in business I'm also aware that some standards are merely in place to avoid certain issues. In this case, it seems this would be in regards to the safety of the persons picking up the "bags". Considering I've had a couch and a love-seat that were much larger and heavier picked up this way, I have a hard time seeing how a bag larger than 32 gal is of any issue unless the contents were obviously heavy. As a business owner myself, I look for ways to avoid adding costs and time to the issues I face. This is why I called yesterday and today..... I explained to Lisa that I had a "bag" that was much larger than 32 gal. however I could personally lift it over my head with one hand, clearly showing that it's not going to injure anyone loading it into a truck. I also suggested that I could send a pic (attached) to demonstrate this and included I am trying to avoid spending additional money on unneeded bags and trying to save the time to go get them and repack the trash. Unfortunately Lisa seemed impatient & had no time to discuss the matter with me. She continued pressing that "the rule states" and would not consider any other possible outcome. When asked to speak to someone who might be able to consider the issue in regards the specifics of the matter, she said there was no supervisor on duty and wouldn't be until the following WEEK! I was then forwarded someone's voice-mail never coming back online to tell me she was pushing me off onto someone else. What is her purpose at the company? Certainly not customer service as a few extra minutes of her time to clear this up surely wouldn't have stopped the rest of the company from functioning. She clearly DID NOT try to ask anyone if this was flexible. I can't imagine my request is so outrageous it should've been ignored completely. To be treated with such disregard is disgraceful. Recology has some drivers that skip a lot of people they feel dont use their receptacles enough . Its kinda rediculous they wont offer less service for single people who use less than half a small can a week . They just skip pickup. It stinks (literaly)and they even skip picking up my yardwaste on a regular basis. The only thing they usually collect is the recycling which they make more money off of than your actual bill. Greedy employee owned business that does not cater to the customer base that makes them the money they charge. As a must have service recology is in the business of minimal service for maximum profit. They actually have let a small bbq sit in front of my house for 6 months . It was in the garbage then the recycling still it was left there and its not a large item . We as a customer base should complain to our city government to make recology either do their job or change their charging practices to accomodate the people who make way less trash than others . Its rediculous to pay for services you dont get and even worse that the only way to opt out is to pay the city half of what your being chadged for no service at all . I called Vallejo Recology because my garbage can was completely full! I spoke to the receptionist Tangela, who was unemypathetic , and unwilling to help me. I told her that my garbage can had not been picked up. She she explained to me that my can was serviced in the morning and that there was additional bags left behind. I politely requested if they would dispatch another truck to pick up the garbage can waste. She goes on to tell me that no they're not able to do so and if they do come out it would be for a fee! This is outrageous!!! I've been living at the same address for 15 plus years and have never had to pay any fees for a pickup. I've been asked to speak to a supervisor, she gladly transferred me to a supervisor however his automated voicemail says he will not be receiving or replying to any messages. I then call back a second time to speak with another representative and she tells me the same thing. It makes no sense to me that in their system is documented that a truck has already service to my home and picked up my trash however the garbage can is still full! read more
