This place is a total ripoff. I understand that you have to make a profit. However I found CD's with goodwill tags for $1.99. This place was trying to get me to pay $30 for the CD. YES LP's are back and this place simply rocks. They mostly have both used and new LP's and if you are a music fan, you can spend half a day in there. I found some seriously rare records in there, a GTR album in pristine condition by Steve Hackett and Steve Howe in their short term union. Best thing is these guys ship as well, which is very convenient, specially if you are traveling on these budget airlines that only allow a small carry on. read more

Great selections. With the exception of a few specific genres (Soul, Hip Hop, Blues, Jazz, etc) on the sides of the store, the majority of the collection is mixed in the middle. For a nerd like me, this was overwhelming so I didn't even dig in there. Definitely has some rare records, even bootleg vinyl, like Kendrick's Section80, Vince Staples' Hell Can Wait, and A$AP Rocky's Live Love ASAP, which I'm not sure were ever released on vinyl. If so, they definitely couldn't be brand new. I was skeptical about the quality so I purchased Dangermouse's Gray Album and Huey was super nice to allow me to play it over the store's system. It played well, so I felt better about purchasing the others. I spent over $400 for 10 records which is a stark contrast to just over $300 for 22 records at Monster Music, less than 7 miles away/ 15 minute drive. Huey was great, making for an overall positive customer service experience. read more

Large store with a good selection of titles. Unfortunately the used records are 25-50% overpriced probably more if you take into account the condition of the records. Also, stickers on protective sleeves stating things like records are "Mint" or "Early Pressing". Total false advertising and meaningless. I suggest shopping here to find something you might like and then buy it off Discogs. It will be shipped to your door, in better condition, and cheaper. read more

The owners are originally from New York however, settled in Charleston to provide this product to the community. The shop goes out the way to purchase unique records that you can't normally get. The go beyond your expectations. They are knowledgeable of vinyl records and often recommend other businesses to tourists. I love coming to this shop and every time I'm in Charleston I make sure I stop here. read more

I lucked up on finding this gem while strolling downtown Charleston to have dessert with my family. Collecting vinyls is my hobby so I was in proverbial heaven. The collection here is massive and covers EVERY genre. I was so amazed at the collection. The person running the store, Tom, was awesome! I asked for help and he was very knowledgeable. A great record store and I go to them all over the country. A couple examples-they had coulombs of Beatles records and Grateful Dead records. Many choices of every album put out in different conditions. I mean 40-50 or more by each group. Normally you would be lucky to see a handful of each at other stores. The other thing is the young man working ( from New Jersey) was friendly and very helpful. Once again, normally if the people working in a record store look up from what they are doing is a plus. The only drawback that I saw is that that are a bit pricey. Maybe 20 percent too high. However they have almost everything that I would want so that is a big plus. read more

Though I was in Charleston for business locating the nearest vinyl shop is always on the list of things to do. Whatever city I am in I find the towns vinyl shop. So glad I found this gem of a store. I have been to tons of vinyl stores. That has vinyl all over the place often times not organized and finding what your looking for can be like a needle in a haystack. The record shop was well organized full of charm and amazing vinyl. The staff was friendly and had a great deal of vinyl knowledge the perfect combination for operating a great vinyl shop. I found some rare gems here. The prices are affordable and the amazing collection in every musical genre under the sun can be found in the perfectly organized rows of vinyl. The record shop is a must for any music lover or vinyl. Collector. Even if your a newbie to vinyl collecting the vinyl shop should be on the list of things to do while in Charleston. read more

Great little record shop! My husband has a list of vinyls he's always looking to add to his collection and he was pleasantly surprised to find a couple of hard-to-find vinyls here! The store is small but well organized by artist/band name. There were several original pressing vinyls which were exciting to see. My husband tries to stay away from any brand new vinyls. The only negative thing about this place are the prices. Most items were way overpriced. They also don't seem to have any rewards or incentives if you make a large purchase or being a frequent buyer. For example, we've visited record shops where if you make a purchase of $150 you get a store t-shirt. Seems like this shop lacks some reward program/marketing creativity and buyer incentives. read more

I'm a long time collector of vinyl and CDs, and have had mixed results here. Prices are high and I've bought a few items here that were fakes, so please be cautious, inspect the items thoroughly and use Discogs as a resource. I find the owner to be a pleasant guy, so I'm not sure if he sells them out of ignorance or if he's pulling a fast one. I don't live in Charleston, so returning the items would require a two hour drive. I just decided to toss them. It's a shame, since it has potential and a lot of stock. read more

If you're looking for authentic records and ethical business I suggest you find somewhere else to shop. My girlfriend and I recently purchased two records with the price tag of 180 total to later find out we were sold fakes! Tried stopping in, was informed that is $15 to park. No way in hell I'm paying 15 just for the privilege of parking. Was really excited to check the store out, but that is highway robbery. Also while there was a parking sign, there was no posted listing of cost to park that I could see. The man who informed me it was 15, was in an unmarked car as well. That screams shady to me. Last I looked out of town money spent just as well as local dollars. Good luck and best wishes but I am for sure a lost customer! A man of no integrity owns this shop. Quoted me a price one day and called me a liar after I made a special trip to buy it the following week. Said he didn't remember and I was making it up. Sold his integrity for 10 dollars and lost a customer that would have more than made up for his lack of recall. Would give zero stars if I could. If I could give 0 in this store I would and definitely never recommend this to anyone! My nieces visited us from NC and wanted to look around CHS DOWNTOWN. We stopped by the RECORD STOP STORE during our adventure downtown. My nieces looked around and liked the store; however, the old man asked us condescendingly "Do you have any questions? because you've been here for a while". My niece asked him how much is the album and he said "that's very expensive! $33" Is that how you really treat customers? That is an unacceptable way to treat prospective customers! read more

I was purchasing records from out of state locations and came across this business! In there, I talked with several older gentlemen (for reference I am a senior at high school and they gladly referred me to several vintage albums - a huge plus!) They recommended me Syncronicity and Through The Night, a Bob Seger classic! My father and I loved the records they recommended but unfortunately, we got a differing album from the store, a poor mistake but one which they handled most effectively. In two days, they had corrected, shipped, and received my correct album and were wonderfully helpful at explaining the process! So thank you I am very grateful. read more

I have not purchased a record here, but surely will in the future. Stumbled upon the place when walking around. They had a vinyl from a cherished group of mine called Men I Trust who is an up and coming indie French Canadian band. Just having it at all really impressed me. Especially since I can't think it's the older owner's type of music and you'd have to have someone interested in the genre to actively stock it. Either way, the selection is great and the owner (I assume) at the register clearly loved music and this store and talking records is his passion project. read more
