My husband let me stop in at this Goodwill. I had explained to him that I wanted to see if a bunch of swimwear gets donated on a daily basis due to the fact that this Goodwill is near an ocean. I also wanted to see if rich people were donating anything on a daily basis. The answers are: No and somewhat. Swimwear was in stock, but no more than inland North Carolina. And someone with a serious Ann Taylor Loft addiction donated tons of items. My daughter chose one brown sweater and broke my heart. The tops and blouses are arranged by color, and sizes have their own whole sections. That took me a minute to figure out, but once you do, that is very helpful. I would still look at all sizes though, because some brands run small, while others run big. I saw a few special-find dresses on a small rack, which is a nice touch. They weren't necessarily expensive, just eye catching. Not much kids' clothing, but maybe I was there at restock time. There was a whole rolling rack of kids' stuff to be put out. Do not be afraid to look at those. You are allowed. Unfortunately, I did not see the whole place. We were on the way to somewhere else. My time was limited. My husband saw the whole place, and he had nothing bad to say about it, so I'm thinking it must be OK. The dressing rooms are kept open, which is nice. You do not have to get someone to unlock it for you. My older daughter picked out an H&M sweater. I got my younger daughter an Old Navy jumpsuit, a rare find in thrift stores. I got a Talbots scarf which my husband declared ugly. Check for stains, as my scarf had one and it has not come completely out. The cashiers are nice. They have Goodwill cards here that can get stamped for extra savings. Nothing can be returned to this Goodwill, so look over what you have in your cart before buying. People have been complaining about Goodwills' prices for the last few years. They have increased prices on some items, but I still say that paying three bucks for a Talbots scarf instead of sixty is a terrific deal. A dress I got my daughter was sixteen dollars off retail price, and is like new. (The dress was two bucks.) It dawned on me after reading reviews for other thrift stores in the Charleston area that people have it out for Goodwill, even after they complain about some prices at non-Goodwill thrift stores. It also dawned on me that Goodwill supports people with disabilities. My daughter has a disability. Goodwill will always get my support, no matter how prosaic that may seem to others. I haven't really had a bad experience shopping here, however, I went to donate clothing and had such an uncomfortable experience that I don't even wanna go back to shop...I get there and the employee is just looking at me me like he cant even believe I have the nerve to donate. He starts off by rolling his eyes and tossing his head back when he looks at my car mind you I only have two bags... I'm already feeling pretty uncomfortable at this point, but I get out of the car and grab the two bags and I just say "hey" trying to make it a little less uncomfortable. He does not respond lol. He just shakes his head in disappointment. So I thought maybe they just weren't accepting any more donations or something but no, he still took the donation after I walked it to him but was shaking his head no like he was so annoyed. It was also like 3 pm be so for real with me...I could understand if I got there like 2 minutes till close or something but 3 pm?? get a grip. Donate to one of the other ones. They got like 3 men's shirts anyways. Obviously they do NOT want more. read more

I had so much fun with some retail therapy at the Palmetto Good Will recently when my luggage didn't make it on the same plane on my recent travels! I will try to post some of my amazing finds soon. Out of all the Goodwill locations in the area this one is probably one of the nastiest; I always feel like I need a shower when I leave here. Also there the store just doesn't really have much that isn't just junk. While the store isn't what I'd like it to be the staff here is friendly. They just need to do a top down cleaning to the place. read more

I want to give 0 stars, but unfortunately I cannot. I donated items today and had a terrible experience due to one of the employees. I went into the store to be courteous and ask where to sort the items I was donating. There was zero communication of please put the items here or please do not place them here. Instead, the employee rudely pulled bags out of my car, dumped the items Into a bin, then threw the bags back in my car. I tried to help, but was rudely stopped, when the employee took the bag from my hand. I regret donating items here. I will do my research and take them elsewhere next time. Worst part, i dropped new clothes, kitchen items, and other items off. Never again! read more

Goodwill is always a hit or miss, but I hit big recently at this location in JI. I ended up there for a while and walked out with a bunch of stuff and inspiration for an upcoming event. I'm also moving soon and found a new coffee table and a floor lamp for myself, which were on my list! The staff was very friendly and helped load the coffee table. They seemed a bit overwhelmed or understaffed, but overall it was a good experience. The place was clean and well organized (for a Goodwill that is). ***Side note*** In the men's bathroom, there was a round seat on a larger oval bowl... first time for everything in life I guess. haha read more

It used to be a good Goodwill but in the last couple months (since new mgmt) there have been a lot of changes. The men's section has been shrunk smaller and smaller it is now just button down shirts and pants. The men's tee shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, shorts ect have been added to the woman's section. They are also now playing music very loudly too loudly Every time we come the store is rearranged Most our favorite employees have since quit since the new management. I want my old Goodwill back!! read more

There are many positive things to say about Goodwill. 1. Wonderful and happy staff that always greets you with a hello and a smile. It is part of the culture they breed into each hire. 2. An eclectic selection of items from books to clothes to household needs. Never the same inventory twice. 3. Open area to move around. Yes except for the clothing area. Gets a little tight there. 4. Discounts and specials each day is always a warm surprise. There are some not so great things. 1. Prices. Each year they seem to be going up and up. 1.99 for a CD, 4.99 for a pair of pants or a shirt, 1.99 for a book, 1.99 for a wine glass. In this economy, some of their prices are the same as buying new at some outlet stores. They are not as competitively priced as they used to be. 2. Sometimes the products are broken or missing parts and not checked before they are sent out for customers to view and buy. read more

Great Goodwill. They have the best selection of name brand clothes for the younger set, like college student aged people or young 20somethings. I love going in there because I always find things in great brands like American Eagle, Abercrombie, and designer jeans. I've also found really cute party dresses with the tags still on, which sell for $5.99 in the store. If you're a college student, skip the expensive boutique stores and come here. The traffic is a little bad during certain times of the day and of course selection always varies, but if you're willing to spend some time thumbing the racks, you can get some great deals. read more

As is the case with any thrift store, generally each visit is hit or miss. That said, this Goodwill is fairly large with a decent selection of stuff, making your odds fairly likely that you'll walk away with something! Came here in search of a dresser on Sunday afternoon. Parking lot out back is pretty large, with a lot of nice, shady spots to park in! Their large furniture selection was fairly limited; they had a ton of desks and bookshelves, but not a lot outside of that. I'm sure this fluctuates. They had a huge selection of clothing, books, and housewares (and the golf clubs--oh my goodness, so many golf clubs). Overall, I felt this location was laid out well. It was comfortable to move around, while still making use of the large square footage. Ended up leaving with a small table and was very tempted by some random artwork laid out around the perimeter of the store. The cashier was friendly, if maybe a bit slow. This location is a little dingy, but it's certainly not the worst Goodwill I've ever been to. I thought the store was decent, and I'll definitely be back with a more general list of things and maybe I'll have better luck! read more

WOW! What an awesome choice of golf clubs, tennis rackets and various other items in sporting goods! We found what we are looking for...one item at a time! Everyone was friendly except an employee coming on the floor with merchandise that was NEW to the location. People were actually waiting. I will be returning! read more

First off, I do understand what Goodwill is all about and think it is a great service and we use it a good bit dropping off items and buying stuff at a great deal but this place recently seems to be falling off in its service. The place kind of stunk and seemed in disarray. Other Goodwills in the area seem to have it much more together. I hope they improve because we do love how close to home it is. Also probably did not help that we did not really find what we were looking for. I understand though that luck has a lot to do with that. read more

I love Goodwill! Always dragging my husband in here. A good deal is waiting to find you! This Goodwill could be cleaner it's a little dirty for me hence my 3 stars. Folly Road can be a pain to get in and out of so avoid during heavy traffic hours. read more

Pretty decent Goodwill. I'm not usually one for their clothes, but I have found several items worth buying. They have a decent selection of women's clothes, which they keep well organized. The staff was friendly and they were working very hard to keep the store looking good. read more

Been here a lot of times hoping to find that perfect item. It is hit or miss. They used to have a nice collection of vinyl records but the supply has dwindled down. The store is cleaner now than before and the folks working there are very nice. The guys in the drop off area are so accommodating and pleasant. They have a drive thru drop off. Overall It is a good place to at least look for that special item but their supply of items is very limited. read more
