For a while, I was having mild back pain from some gym sessions that I went a little to hard. After another hard gym session, my back was all out of alignment. I was having some severe back pain and could hardly sit or stand without discomfort. I decided to make an appointment with Richa and she assured me we can fix this and I would be back in the gym in no time. After a few sessions, I saw great improvement. Finally, after a couple more sessions, I am back at it in the gym and doing daily activities without any pain. It is a great success and I am happy to be back to my normal routine. read more

The place is small, but they have access to the NYSC three floors below, and they seem to have enough space, hi-tech equipment, and expertise to get the job done. I had the opportunity to receive therapy with Jessica, John and Amy after minor knee arthroscopy. Jessica was my primary therapist, John and Amy filled in when my schedule didn't coordinate with Jessica's - I think they each have different days they work with different start times. I also worked with Alberto who they seem to rely on to help on days that multiple patients overlap, he provides guidance & supervision on the exercises you're doing. They cater to the people that work in the neighborhood so they open early and don't stay open too late in the evening. They are super convenient if you work in the Financial District, although it sucked getting to them when NYPD blocks off streets due to (ahem) protests. They are in the entrance right next to NYSC, not actually in NYSC. Eventually your treatment may lead to strength training inside NYSC and you'll get to know the secret entrance to NYSC.... Everybody in this office is very nice and professional. Each therapist has their own personality and way of working you - I think John will push you harder, Jessica is midway between tough and nice and Amy seemed the least forceful although I'm sure that if she has to make you bend that painful extremity, she will - so you should try and take the opportunity to work with each and see which one works best for you. I would recommend all of them. I especially appreciate their willingness to answer "why" questions. They are generally on time and appreciate when you are *right* on time, not early and not late. Appointments seem to be booked with slight overlap so if you make that overlap bigger it makes it harder to give everyone the attention they should. They seem to do their best to give everyone individual treatment. I never had any problems with payments/insurance and they did kept up with submitting requests to my insurance company to keep me covered. Unfortunately the insurance company decided I was all better so no more p/t for me, but I still recommend Recovery PT. read more

I needed PT after I had surgery for a broken leg, and I came to Recovery PT based on Yelp reviews. I had a fantastic experience there. The people at the front desk are very friendly and remembered me after my first visit. My therapist, John, was kind, knowledgeable and thorough. Whenever any new ache or pain arose he knew exactly why it happened and helped me calm down about it. I actually enjoyed going to PT every week. Like other reviewers have noted, the facilities are quite small, but I never felt that I was at all limited. The hours are decent and it was pretty easy to schedule an appointment. I have been going to Recovery PT since March to treat tennis elbow and it is really helping. I see Laurence and I liked her from the day I met her. She is very nice and patient. When I was feeling discouraged and thinking I would never get better she encouraged me and assured me that I would get better. Well now my arm injury is almost healed and I am so grateful. When I first started going there I was in a lot of pain and now the pain is almost non-existent. I highly recommend this place. Everyone who works there is very nice. While training for the NYC marathon, my knee started hurting about 6 weeks prior to race day. I booked a few appointments with Richa Doshi and she helped me not only heal my "runners knee,"but strengthen my knee for preventative measures for future races. She gave me exercises, tips, and recovery methods for before and after runs. Recovery PT was accommodating to early morning/late night sessions so I could come in before/after my work. Dr. Doshi's attentiveness and care towards my wellbeing in preparing for the marathon and recovering were greatly appreciated and helped me cross the finish line with no knee pain! I will say up front that posting reviews is not something I normally do. However, after reading the unfounded and misleading negative review posted two days ago, I felt compelled to counter. Obviously people are entitled to their own options, but when it comes Recovery PT the negative review posted on 3/26 could not be more wrong and off the mark. Let's just go point by point. First off, TWO visits in four years does not make anyone an expert on anyone's performance. You are only commenting on your own option of a brief snap shot in time. Having been a regular patient attending regular visits for some time, I believe I come from a much more informed place to offer a legitimate evaluation. Next, the comment with regard to exercises. OK folks, we are adults and quite honestly need to own our own recovery. The staff shows you the exercises you need to do to prepare your body for pre and post therapy and.... it's your responsibility to pay attention and perform to your best ability. Never once did I not get my question answered if I felt my form was incorrect. Keep in mind these are licensed medical professionals and not gym trainers, so if you have never done an exercise in your life, well now whose fault really is that. Additionally, one of the things I love most about this practice that it is not your typical sterile environment. The open treatment area and people working and talking together makes the experience warm and inviting. From the moment you walk in and Kathy greets you through the whole therapy session, you feel relaxed and at ease. If only every medical office was like this. With regard to insurance, unless you just fell from a tree in the Amazon Jungle, you know that health care is a nightmare to navigate. We often complain at how cumbersome it is as a patient. But stop for second and imagine how the medical professionals who are preforming the services (not the insurance companies)must feel and the nightmare they go through to get paid. If you had to write a 3 page document justifying why you should get your full paycheck for the job you do, you would not be so happy. I am an employer of more than 100 people and I know insurance. Recovery PT is not doing anything illegal. One should fact check before making accusations. With regard to the therapists themselves, I have had the pleasure of being treated by both John and Amie. I have found them both to be extremely talented and caring professionals dedicated to giving their ALL to every penitent and rightfully expecting it in return. This goes back to my earlier comment of owning your own recovery. You have to show up and participate whole heartedly. I would disagree that one pushes more than the other, only that every person has a different style and approach, but that does not make one more effective than the other. Personally, I found Johns style to be refreshing and engaging. Face it, we are there to be healed because we are injured. It's not going to be easy, so we need to be pushed to move out of our comfort zone. Never once, never did I feel John was skimping on my treatment. In fact I found it to be beyond thorough and was always amazed at how much he taught me during my sessions. These are medical professionals with years and years of schooling and internships. So unless the reviewer of 3/26 also has this exact schooling and expertise, I would not put much credence in the comment that treatments were skipped. In the end, everyone gets to make their own choice. Look at all the other reviews on this page and you can see these are great folks doing great work and I am very thankful to have them in my corner. read more

After having two extremely large children (we're talking almost 12 pounds each), my diastasis recti was a disaster. I have been to 3 other PT facilities prior to moving to NYC and finding myself at Recovery PT. All I have to say is that this is hands down the best place I've ever been to. I highly recommend Recovery PT in the Financial District. I have been a client since January, 2013, due to a severe injury to my right leg quad muscle and tendons. The expertise, therapy and the ambiance they provide are first class. The facility is very clean and very friendly. I chose RPT for PT from a spinal surgery (lower back) I was very happy with RPT and my therapist, John Wilbert. John took plenty of time to work with me both on the strength and flexibility tranining I needed as well as helping me improve my posture and overall back health. For me, the facilities were fine. They are small, but the ability to use the NYSC facilites makes them bigger than they seem. They were also flexible about scheduling which I appreciated. After four weeks going twice a week and doing the excercises on my off days I am feeling better and am on the road to recovery. I would recommend John and this RPT facility. read more

I have been to multiple physical therapy places throughout my life and RPT has been one of my favorites! I recently had a tibial tubercle transfer and MPFL reconstruction on my left knee. As part of my recovery hands on therapy is a must, and RPT provides the one-on-one time that is necessary for an effective and quick recovery. My therapist Richa Doshi spends at least 25-30 minutes providing manual therapy and is knowledgeable, skilled and personable. She also created an effective and challenging exercise program catered to my needs and corrects my form when needed. I see her twice a week and my sessions are what I look forward to each day as I get stronger and she helps provide the TLC I need. I highly recommend RPT and the care Richa has given me to walk again and get back to daily life! read more

I have been going to this location for a few years, for different issues, and I have been treated by two therapists. My physical therapist now is Richa Doshi. She treated me for my shoulder previously and when my hip developed issues I requested to return to her. She is very skilled, professional, and very down to earth. I see results with her treatment, and the staff is very friendly and efficient. It is always easy to get an appointment because of their flexible hours, and they are very helpful and knowledgeable in terms of working with my insurance. The scheduling is accommodative and the appointment always started on time for me. By the end of my treatment my knee symptoms had resolved. I am not a big fan of Physical Therapy. The last place I went to (I won't mention the name of) was a well-known one in the same area. I went for a meniscus problem and the therapist injured my leg (more) in the first ten minutes with him and he was the manager of the place! I'm still pissed off. And told him so. It probably helped put me more on the path to knee replacement than the original injury. I've been to 2 other places (years apart) both after knee replacement surgery and they all had the same thing in common. You got about 5-10 minutes with the Physical Therapist and then they handed you off to an intern who was looking at their cell phone. I'm very pleased to say Recovery Physical Therapy is not like that. It's not a mill. Like I said I was not a big fan of Physical Therapy after past experiences. Recovery Physical Therapy has changed my mind. You get one Therapist and they stick with you. My therapist was Richa and she was terrific. Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Another thing that differs here between other places is that they're willing to email you detailed charts on exercises to do at home. Sounds simple, right. Not so. My wife went to one place where she had to beg over and over and they still never emailed anything to her. I'm very happy to say after a year and a half of walking down stairs sideways and in pain that I'm much better now thanks to Physical Therapy, and surgery of course. read more

I have used the services of RPT at 65 Broadway in the Wall Street area twice. The first was for recovery from a broken shoulder socket several years ago and most recently for preparation and recovery of knee replacement surgery. I think they are terrific. My therapist for the knee replacement was Richa who is intelligent, knowledgeable and personable. She explained things to me thoroughly and listened to my comments and questions (and my whining - sorry Richa!). I found all the therapists there to be warm and friendly and willing to answer questions even though I was not under their direct care. I have scheduled surgery on the other knee and I will definitely be returning to RPT. I highly recommend them! read more

I had shoulder surgery and went through months of rehab with John and Jessica. Jessica and I didn't connect, but she still did a good job. John was fantastic. Knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to explain what he was doing. The facility is also great, with many tables and exercise equipment. The nice thing about Recovery PT is that you have one-on-one time with a therapist (i.e., John or Jessica), and then you have a dedicated trainer (Sasha) who walks you through all the exercises and supervises you. I have zero patience with healthcare appointments where the provider is always running late (so disrespectful) and that never happens here. Ever. I've gone to RPT in FiDi for three separate issues now, for the first time 6 years ago and using them now. It has been a great experience each time. Jessica Silva was my main therapist for two of the issues, and she is excellent at explaining what she's doing, why she's doing it, and what actions I can take at home to see improvement. She takes a very "whole body" approach and goes above and beyond fixing just the specific issue, but also focuses on areas other related areas that might be causing the problem or affected by it. The office staff has been very helpful in booking/changing appointments, the therapists are usually running on time so the wait is minimal if at all, and I'm always reminded of when my prescription is running out so I don't have problems dealing with insurance. I've been extremely happy with the services received at this location and would highly recommend it. read more
