Google's "Street View" of the skate park, from Olive Ave.

Although Recreation Park is pretty big, the skate park is not. It only has two sections, a pool and a "street" area. The pool has three berms in the middle running from side-to-side that separate a 3-foot bowl from a 6-foot bowl. The street side has two distinct levels with three ramps and couple of sheer 4' drops, with the upper level being split again into two sections separated by two steps. There's also a lot of rails so plenty of grinding opportunity. Saturday mornings there's a few regular skater Dads who come with their daughters, and another Dad who skates with his two teenage sons, then late morning to early afternoon the regulars rock up. For the most part, everyone seems to respect everyone else. My daughter is taking lessons and a couple of times the young guy teaching the class has asked the regulars to give him & the groms some space in and around the bowl, and they do. Respect. There are signs posted saying helmets, elbow & knee pads are required. My daughter wears them anyway, as do the dads and their kids, but a lot of the older skaters don't even wear helmets. The Park Ranger has stopped by a few times to enforce the rules but apparently he only writes tickets when he's having a bad day. For the most part it seems if you don't have your gear he just kicks you out.

    Whoops in the pool section.

The teen center is such a great place to host small events for family and friends. They had a fridge, sink, provided tables and chairs which made it very convenient. The brick wall also provided for a nice backdrop. Clean up was easy, all they asked was to remove table clothes and throw trash out. They put tables and chairs away. Time is limited but for something small and intimate, it's great. Location can be confusing and parking is limited. But def a place I'd recommend if people needed a venue.

Deep in the back lots of Baldwin Park sits a hidden oasis for skateboarders and other rebels on…read morewheels. This is one of two parks that the Active board shop hold their weekend skating workshop. Not only is it a spot for boarders, this has a small park next to it equipped with exercise machines. In the front of the park, there is the teen center that's open only during the week,so I can't comment on that site. The skate area itself is great for beginners to advance levels. This location is great do to the fact it doesn't have any locals trying to claim the skate arena like it was theirs. The parking is limited on both the north and south side of the park so I would recommend early arrival because of the skate classes that are held on Saturday's and Sunday's from eleven to about one. Before and after that,it's all fair game. And that's my crispy take on the hidden oasis skate park,Peace

You can move all around this park. 5/5 Amenities From pickleball, to the playground or doing Ollie's on the skate park. There are a lot of activities you can do at this location. There are courts for pickleball or tennis, fields for baseball or soccer, picnic tables all over for you to take a load off or paved walkways for you to get your steps in. 5/5 Trees Nothing beats having large trees to give you shade on sunny days. Rainy days are a different story. 5/5 Parking Parking all around the park. You can even park right next to the kids playground. Overall solid park to fit whatsoever your heart desires. So be sure to move and Psalm 119:89, God bless

Other than folks mistakenly referring to it as 'Finkbinder', we love our local G-town park…read more I think the additional 'd' might come from an old 50's themed restaurant in the Village called Fender Benders (sp?), which closed many years ago - and folks confusing the two. But, that said, only old Glendorans would be making that mistake and yet I hear folks of all ages add the 'd'. The park has lots of amenities we've used since our kids were born and even before... - summer concerts and movies in the park - birthday or event areas (Scouting) - playground - tennis court (other side taken by pickleball :( - skate park - sports fields - horseshoes - volleyball - community center And more. We love walking through the park on the way to the Village. If you haven't been, worth checking out pretty much any day of the week. So many fond memories created at Finkbiner. Even Pokémon Go events, haha.
