Parking can be found along McPherrin or other surrounding streets if you can't find parking. Entertainment: The city usually hosts a decent amount of festivities for the community at this park. Current Events: From May 7 - 10, they're celebrating cinco de mayo (5/7/2026 :5pm to 10pm and Monterey Parks birthday (5/7/2026 to 5/10/2026). Barnes Park Offerings: 1) Pickleball Courts (6) /Tennis (1): 2 month's ago they repaved and installed permanent pickleball nets. There's only one tennis court now... haha Pickleball is taking over! Pickleball courts are closed starting 5/4/2026 to 5/12/2026. Will reopen on 5/13/2026. 2) Baseball/Softball Field 3) Community Center 4) Gymnasium: Indoor basketball and pickleball courts (7pm - 10pm) 5) Restrooms: They're available. Not really clean though. 6) Teqball table: Don't see people use this table to play. I guess I'll watch this on youtube for now. Hopefully, one day.... I'll be able to see this sport in real life. Barnes For Thought: Overall, it's a nice park. Pretty cool that they had enough funding to install permanent pickleball courts. Perhaps the next thing they can fix up is the restrooms.

It has always been a well-maintained park with plenty of offerings, although the pool is currently closed. Plenty of parking in their lot (on the south side) or surrounding streets although parking can get tough when there are major events.

This is only park that has an operating city pool at the moment. The other pool at Barnes Park has been closed for a while. The pool is relatively small. The Manta Rays operate out of this facility. They also offer child and adult swim lessons in the summer. The park is nice. There are a lot of trees that provide shade. There's also an indoor gym on site for basketball.

I returned with my full safety gear and helmet and 10.75" skateboard. The area with the skatepark was deserted except for people playing pickleball. The skatepark is set up for street skating, with banks, steps, and rails. There is a half pipe in the back. The halfpipe was intimidating 20 years ago, and I don't think I tired it. I remembered the skatepark differently. I think there was a small bowl near the entrance, but I could not find evidence of it. Does anyone know if the skatepark was remodeled within the last twenty years?
