I can't believe I was going anywhere else. There are so many workers here to assist you through the process. There's only one narrow entrance and exit but people help you park and back out. They have the best bins that don't hold liquid. A mean even brought me more as I was sorting from my car. Then another man will help you drag your bins into line if needed. Then another man sorts through them. Makes sure nothing is amiss. And yet another person weighs them, while someone in a windowless container hands you the money. After adjusting, I tried again, and this time came away with some more information about how to maximize the return on what I brought in, as well as another $70 in cash. *Sort CARV bottles separate from others like hdpe plastics, and larger containers separate from smaller ones. Other things that can affect your bottom line are details like crv bottles MUST HAVE LABELS so that it is proof of origin in CA. (Redemption centers were being gamed by folks bringing materials from out of state). Without the label, they will be processed as SCRAP which is much less value. And I believe that a whole barrel of material can be tainted by the presence of one item that fails qualification. This is likely why our takeaway was so much lower than expected on previous visits. Clean and dry materials are better than soiled, again making a difference in value of redemption, More than one barrels worth of glass bottles should also be sorted by color. read more

If your the kind of person who saves up hundreds of cans/bottles then this is the place for you! Its pretty gross in the fact that you have to go through all your cans and separate them into colors and plastic, They give you varying rates on varying types of cans and bottles. Basically dnt come here all fancied, you will get dirty. Once you sort through all your items the weighing is pretty simple and quick. They tally it all up for you and give you your amount in CASH, no funky coupon you have to redeem but straight up cash. We got about $63 off of 6 trash cans worth of bottles. Another plus is the Latino lady who comes around selling quesadillas and cookies! She's an amazing hustler. Always someone there willing to show you the difference between the prices for separated glass and plastics so you get more money. I had bee losing money at other places because they never told me to separate my #1 Plastic from my #2 plastic. Following the advice of other reviews on here I went at 7:45am on a Tuesday and there was no wait and parking wasn't a problem. The parking lot/processing area is small so I can see how its easy for it to get crowded and hectic. This was my first time there and some of the reviews made it sound like the process wasn't intuitive, but I didn't have a problem. You drive in and park, grab an orange bin and take it back to your car to fill up. You then take the bin back to them. Only thing is that you hand them the bin in the left and theb go stand on the right (which seemed very important to the worker despite no one else in line lol). My only reason for taking off 1 star is because like others have said customer service is almost nonexistant. No warm welcome or help parking or instructions/clear signage or much communication at all. They would definitely let you wander around lost if you don't make an effort to get their attention lol. The employees are friendly and assist with the process of recycling. All of the positive reviews are true; you do have to sort your own materials, but they will help you re-sort if a bottle or can is in the wrong container once you get up to the counter. The lines are usually long, but they try to keep things moving. The staff is courteous for the most part; if you have questions about pricing, etc., they will take the time to tell you how the recycling program works. One of the guys are usually cleaning up the yard, keeping it somewhat neat throughout the day. I've been a customer for more than 10 years; I tried other places, but it was not the same; the areas were dirty, they didn't have people skills and I got less money for my recyclables! read more

This was my first time here so; my daughter and I asked an employee how we should separate the bottles. He told us to separate the plastic milk cartons from the other stuff and cans are separate etc (which I'm aware that cans, glass, etc are separated. I wasn't sure about how to separate the plastic). While we were separating, another patron came up to us and explained that you get more for the CRV bottles and they should be separated from the other plastic bottles (He showed us which plastic bottles go together), then the janitor also came over to help. It took another customer and the janitor to provide us with the correct information. One of the containers they weighted was full to the top and this was the CRV container. The least of our containers were the plastic scrap container, all which we learned from the other customer and the janitor. We received $16 and some change after all of that. The look on the check-out guy's face was a look of surprise as if to say, "wow that's it", I could tell something was up and not done right. However, I'm not going to argue over bottles, I will just not be returning here. read more

Everyone should experience a recycling center. From the stench of old juices and liquor left to decay in their container, to the sound of crashing glass bottles being thrown, full force, into a dumpster, (can't be safe) it is a wonder to behold. There is the little elderly grand parent wishing the line would move faster. There's the hustler pushing anything from incense to condoms. There's the kindhearted neighbor and the stone-faced drifter. These are only a few of the folks I encountered on my first visit. The security guards were extremely helpful and necessary in that parking lot. Be dressed suitable to the occasion - it's a big dumpster afterall. I was paid fairly for my plastics and schooled on the sorting of other items I will return with. Yes, I will return to this meeting place of the masses. I highly recommend it. read more

This place was awesome!! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Despite me arriving right at closing time, they welcomed me by reopening the gates. This was very generous of them since I know they all must be exhausted and be set on getting home. One gentleman immediately approached my car with bins and was ready to help me. The process was quick, smooth, and enjoyable. I also want to confirm that I had my aluminum cans counted out into sacks of 50 since that is the max that CA law will let you turn in to redeem your full CRV. Just to let you know, we weighed the cans and I received just a little bit more than if I had done them all separately.... I had 14 sacks of 50. With this being said, this place is an honest establishment and will NOT rip you off!... and that's hard to find nowadays. Conclusion is... I earned more on my recycling by choosing this location, I had a great first time experience due to the staff giving superb customer care and service, and I HIGHLY recommend this location to those who are searching around! read more

I came here July 1st at 9am to recycle a small amount of bottles. I was not only discriminated against by the company, I was beligerently yelled at by the security officer who accused me of assuming the 5 workers there would help me sort my items because I did not know you couldnt stand in line with unsorted items. There were no signs. I thought the line was how we got the bins, as the worker had given two empty bins to a gentleman. After the officer rudely refused me to receive service after my items were sorted and escorted persons in front of me, I asked the security officer for his name, he refused to tell me. I called the number of the guard uniform he was wearing, Pro Bound Guard Services. The manager instructed me that the officer was not associated with his company, and that he did not have a guard at this address. He asked to speak with the security officer, who was calling the police to have me removed from the premises. The officer refused to speak with the Pro Bound rep.. When another worker arrived, who was supposedly the manager,`I went to speak with him. The security guard begin yelling as I spoke at the gentleman. The man then turnd to another worker, who began to inform him in spanish of the details. Unknowingly, I speak spanish. He was stating I was sorting my items in line against what the scurity officer said. Then that I was being disrespectful because I took a video. I stated back in Spanish that I had not sorted my items at all. I did not know the protocol that was going on and was waiting for a bin. Ive come here before, but it appeared the worker was distributing out available bins. I hadnt known just to grab any bin anywhere. The manager then stated that he had to listen to the guard. The guard then yelled Ha, see. I really just wanted to cash out. I had already sorted my items. I then apologized to all the workers and stated could they just weigh my items. The security officer stated, "I thought you were smart but I guess you cant hear".. I packed my stuff and left. I called G King recycling, and spoke with the owner, Frankis, informed him of his security officers behavior, and also that he was impersonating a guard company he was not apart of. He stated they should have helped me or at least informed me when I arrived; but then stated he couldn't do anything because he wasnt there to see what happened, which makes no sense. I stated at least an apology, and he sais I apologize, but I cant do anything. I am sorry you felt mistreated we have a center on Broadway and Slauson you can go to. I stated I wanted an apology from the workers for embarrassing me in front of the crowd of customers. Why was everyone able to open their mouths after the fact, but not when I first got in the line without my items sorted. A gentleman had even commented he couldnt believe how these men were treating a little lady. I again informed him that his officer was impersonating a security officer. He stated he used to work with the company. I stated, exactly, used to. I called to verify, and he has not been with that company. This was an endangerment not only to the staff, but to the customers as the guards unprofessionalism and taunting, perhaps would have led to escalating tensions had it been another person. As an owner, I would think that supporting a customers right to go to any location and receive decent service would have been priority. Instead of thinking to correct his people for their sexist and derogatory behavior, he thought to shift me to another location. read more
