I'm not sure about the other reviews. Folks are much more likely to leave bad reviews-myself included. That said, I've been going the Red Banks and fishing with Bob for 5-7 years and have never had anything but good experiences. He has always been patient with friends of mine that aren't good fishermen, and I find him to be quite pleasant in general. The burgers at the bar are great. The deck overlooking the river is nice to enjoy a beer on after a day of fishing. And the fishing is outrageously good. No kidding. read more

Terrible place. First experience going to Fremont for a fishing trip with my buddy and his brothers friends. We took Friday off work, left at 4am, and arrived there at 7:00 a.m. thinking we were going to have the whole day ahead of us. We were told someone would be in to greet us, and let us pick up the boat, but nobody was around. The sign on the door said CLOSED. We ended up waiting for 3 HOURS when we finally talked to "Bobs brother in law", who told us he was out fishing (not a very good way to greet new customers). We finally got our boat from the brother in law, and go out to fish. At the end of the day, my buddy goes to pay, and instead of apologizing, Rita says "I forgot you were coming" (real professional). Then Saturday after fishing, we head to the bar to get a burger and a drink. Before we even order, Bob PUSHED our friend for telling him we were going to take the boat out on Sunday morning to make up the lost time on Friday. Luckily our friend walked away. We then cleaned up, packed and left at 9pm. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Cabin was clean, but the service was absolutely terrible. read more

Rudest people I have ever met. It is a nice place...bar all right, food mediocre, rooms nice. But Bob and Rita should NOT be running a resort. I have seen him scream at people, stomp around like a 2 year old and Rita is no better. Acts like she could absolutely care less if you are there or not. Rita is a very nasty rude person.Really both Bob and his wife Rita should not be in the resort business. We paid $10 a piece to fish off the pier and went to fill our cooler and Rita came out yelling that everything must be bought from the bar.She is never friendly even tending bar. Dear Eager Fisherman & Family fun Seekers, When springtime arrives, a usual aroma of pleasantness comes around the local wolf river in Fremont Wisconsin regarding the wonderful opportunities to grasp the exciting wilderness, sunshine, and white bass. When coming to the Red Banks Resort, you expect the pleasantness to continue while you rent a campground or a room to stay with your family and friends, however the owners of the resort have created the worst situation . Both the owners bob and Rita have created the worst situation when I had come this weekend for Memorial Day, by creating an unnecessary means of uncomfort for my family trip by not providing proper customer service upon request, screaming at us while the children sleep, and having overall an utterly horrible personality when treating us during the whole duration of the trip. Wish I could give this place a 0 star.... My husband and I called last Sunday and asked if there were rooms available and we were told they had vacancies.We drove there and we were told that they only had rooms for 1 person and not 2.... so we asked when there would be room for 2 people and he said Thursday. So we waited till Thursday and called they told us it would take them till Saturday to clean the room up.. So we called right away this morning when they opened and we were told they had no rooms and then we were hung up on.... Not reliable at all. Go elsewhere! read more

I think yelp should have a negative 5 score on the review. I went there last week with several families for fishing white bass. But this turned into a disaster. We rented a boat and also bought their "deck fishing pass" as well. Bob(the owner) and his son Tom were really rude and shouted at us when we are trying to use the deck to unload families to eat in their bar. Bob even were saying cursing discriminating words against women and children. I wished I could video tape these and put it on youtube. If you wants to trade your self esteem for a few fishes, definitely try here. You will get what you want. read more

This place is definitely the best resort myself and my husband have ever stayed at. When I called a couple weeks ago to make our reservation the woman said all they had available was a trailer and on such short notice I went ahead and booked it, so not expecting to have anything great I was ecstatic to find such a beautiful accommodations, not only was it the cleanest place we've stayed it was very big. The best part of our stay at Red Banks Resort had to be the beautiful and friendliest people we had the pleasure of meeting, not only were the owners Bob and Rita wonderful but all of the other people we met at the bar/restaurant the friendliest people we've ever met. As far as the restaurant goes possibly the best burger my husband and myself have ever eaten, thanks to our chef Rita!!!! I recommend to anyone looking for a weekend getaway to fish and relax and have some great food to eat please try this beautiful place out. I just read the reviews and was surprised. My boyfriend has been fishing in the area for the past four years and I've never been there. We live in Elkhorn, WI. This past weekend I decided to go with him. It was a last minute decision on my part and I started calling around on Thursday for a place to stay. Since we were driving up the next day, I had a hard time finding a place that had anything available, or I ended up leaving a message. My boyfriend usually stays with friends at the Blue Top Resort & Campground, but they didn't have any cabins available, either. The Red Banks resort was probably my 6th call. A gentleman answered and said they had one cabin left. I told him I would take it and he took down my information. I checked in the next day and met Rita. The Pine Tree cabin was very clean and it felt like "home away from home"; very relaxing. I checked out this morning and Bob was at the bar to check me out. I did not encounter any problems with Rita or Bob. Rita was friendly and helpful during my stay, and I didn't spend more than two minutes with Bob when I checked out. If I had read the reviews before calling the resort, I probably would not have booked at this place. I'm glad I didn't see the reviews until now. The only two complaints I have are 1) I could not get Internet access, and 2) you could smell the sulfur in the water, but it wasn't that bad. Other than that, I thought everything was fine. Great place! Nice owners that are friendly and willing to help in any way. Rita and Bob are the owners and Bob is the guide, First time on the Wolf River with my son and brother and they made us feel at home. We stayed in one of the cabins which was perfect and right on the river. GREAT time and GREAT fishing. My girls were traumatized by Bob/Red Banks 5/16/15. We booked guide service.Our inquiry calls were hung up on us. Then Bob refused to provide booked service. Bob told my eldest parking ok if the person in cabin did not use it. But after he realized it was our car, he charged to us, yelling,and forced us to leave, despite our dock passes entitling the stay. Seeing that we were alone waiting for my husband to return, Bob became more agitated and screamed.My two younger daughters were so frightened that they broke down and cry loudly. Ignoring my request to leave together, Bob kept yelling and demanded me and my three daughters to leave alone without my husband. We were forced to do so. Worrying for his safety, I drove back to find him. Bob blocked the entrance to the dock and yelled, "You can't wait for him. If you don't leave right now, I will call the police!" My daughters were so frightened that they kept crying for their dad, thinking cannot see him anymore. I called 911, we reunited and drove home. Our two younger daughters cried to sleep. read more

We won't be back. My family and friends like to try difference places every now and then. This year we booked 4 cabins and 2 tent sites at the Red Banks Resort (we go to Freemont one weekend in August each year for the last 5 years). The grounds and cabins are nice. Unfortunately the owners are rude and unfriendly. We didn't feel welcome at all. We typically have a great experience when traveling (we travel often) so this was very odd to us. I honestly don't think Rita and her husband like people. Why own a resort if you don't like to meet or deal with new people? Seriously; each one of our group arrived hours apart and we're equally put off by Rita's rudeness and passive aggressive fake laugh. This was our first impression when we checked in! We're used to staying in 3 and 4 star hotels; are very clean, dress appropriately; spend money at restaurants and clean up after ourselves. Oh well. The Pine Grove Inn got our fish-fry business (bill was over $300) and Channel Kats got our Saturday lunch business (bill was again - over $300). If Rita and her husband made us feel welcome their bar and grill till would have been pretty full by the end of the weekend. BTW: They have a $50 minimum on credit cards although they don't post it. read more
