It is VERY understandable that Blues City Deli has achieved a 5 star rating on Yelp. It was great…read more I read in my preview that the line to the counter is always there...but it moves quickly...and it is and does. I had to visit Blues City as I heard they have great Po Boys...and they do. I am used to having oysters or shrimp on a Po Boy. Not here. They are basically served with many versions of meat. I had the Benton Park Po Boy and it was incredible. The sandwich has ham, roast beef, turkey, provel, and is dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, pepperoncini, sweet red pepper sauce on french bread. My wife, being vegetarian had the Panino Fresco. It included mozzarella, provolone, dressed with homemade olive salad, tomato, onion & Italian vinegar oil on an Italian roll. This was the first time in 26 years that she finished the entire sandwich. I had a bite of hers, and it is easy to see why she she finished it. So good. I even bought a memorable t-shirt as I loved Blues City Deli. The female counter person was so friendly. She even wrote down three other restaurants to try while we were visiting St Louis. Blues City Deli is a can't miss place and if we are back in St. Louis...we will be back.

Great sandwiches, quick line and service. Sandwich was big enough to save other half for later…read more Perfect place to grab a bite before the brewery tour. Indoor and outdoor seating. We ate in our car, no spots available. Benton Park is up and coming.

Westwood Catering & Deli is right down the road from our house and we always see people dining…read moreoutside, so we decided to stop by and get a sandwich before we headed home. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything remarkable about our experience. The deli was... charming, but very, very old. There didn't seem to be AC and the box fans were not really doing much. We ordered our food to-go after seeing the inside. I ordered the Monty sandwich, a toasted roast beef sandwich with salami as well. The meat tasted rather low-quality and the sandwich was overly chewy. My mom's Westwood Sandwich, a chicken salad on croissant, was slightly better but nothing to write home about. The prices were great, and it's always nice to support a local business, but we would probably not give this place our business again.

Nice little neighborhood grocery store, with a long history that also serves some great sandwiches!…read more We tried the Roma and Mary Jane sandwiches and loved both. All sandwiches come with a pickle spear and small bag of chips. The flavors were nice and fresh, with great taste! About $9 each and a good size. We sat and ate at the counter and read about the history of the building. Next time I want to get some of the side salads to try. The service was a bit odd, as there were 4 people behind the sandwich counter and 1 at the front/store register. The 4 folks were all talking to each other and didn't notice us for a bit. The guy who took the order seemed a bit upset and didn't really talk much. He sent me up front to pay and then said to come back in 5 min for the food. After a few minutes I came back and the other folks helped find the order. They were both very friendly, and helpful. Must have just caught the first guy in a bad moment. Is it a place for date night? No. It is worth going there and grabbing lunch to eat outside on a nice day? Hard "YES"! Great food at a good value and a local place, can't ask for much more than that!
