We travel through this area often & see the signs. I am not a sausage person but we stopped a few trips ago. They have much more than sausage. We bought some exotic snack sticks for hubby. It was near Christmas & i bought some spicey quick sticks that my adult grandson like plus some flavored little moonshine. I grabbed a couple of original quick sticks and we were on our way. I decided to take a bite of an original snack stick. Oh my goodness! I loved it. Next time through there, we bought ourselves a box of 30, hubby more exotics and a pack of bacon. We love bacon. In Utah, we bought it fresh, in a 15 pound box from a farm. As we have gotten older, it doesnt always agree with us any more. The Stonie's bacon, however, was great. Cooked up well, digested well, the taste was wonderful. Our final trip through this month, we didnt stop. I couldn't find their hours on their website, it was pretty early in the morning and we were tired. A mistake. We can order the sticks online but not the bacon. We just ordered plenty of sticks. We will eventually take a trip again back to where we moved from and get bacon. It is definitely worth a stop. read more

I've been through the area often on i55 but never seemed to be a time that they were open. I have, however, had a lot of their quick sticks that they sell at local Rhodes convenience stores and they were delicious. Very similar to my favorite big brand, icon. So after seeing all the billboards on the interstate over the years I decided to stop in. I selected some brats, snack sticks that were refrigerated, unlike the quick sticks at the store and some jerky. Snack sticks were excellent and similar to a local butcher shop near my house, however the jerky was awful. Hard and tooth breaking, it also emitted some fat/lard after opening the bag. It may have just been a bad batch but not sure I would go back just based on that experience. I have yet to try the brats so will update if I think they bring the grade up. Friendly staff though! Will consider giving them another shot and hoping it was a bad jerky batch. Posting some pictures of the jerky and packaging. White stuff is all oozed out fat after I opened the package. read more

We stopped in here to grab some sausage driving by and had no idea they had a full lunch menu. Wow! The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. No frills on sourdough bread with lettuce, tomato onion, and pickle. They were classic lunchtime sandwiches with super flavorful meats. $10 for the combo was a great deal. The sandwich was chock-full of meat and toppings, I loved it, the loaded potato salad, and you get a huge drink. There were at least 8 to 10 pieces of bacon on our sons BLT. We also grabbed several of their uniquely flavored brats to take home. Unfortunately, I didn't grab any pictures, but trust me if you're in the area you don't want to miss these great sandwiches. We were expecting more jerky and meat selection, instead of a refrigerated offering of sausages and cheeses. They did however have a lot of local company offerings like popcorn, pretzel sticks, and alcohol. We still found something to buy for the trip home, but it wasn't what we were expecting. read more

For all the signs advertising greatness, the deli is a great disappointment. It is small, has typical Amish jarred foods as any niche deli does, small meat selection, tiny jerky selection, limited and weak deli menu. Very underwhelming after the anticipation of all the signage and taking the extra time to drive to the deli. What a great shop to stock up at! We stocked up on all kinds of sausage, smoked sausage sticks, salsa, and jam. Coming from SE Louisiana, we see these kinds of shops all over the place, but this one is great. You can order food from the counter where there is a little seating area for you to sit and enjoy your order. There are also great restrooms, clean and well stocked. So, if you're going for eat-in fresh food, you're set. If you're going to make some groceries? You're set. Just a pause off the road to stretch? Doesn't matter. All set. Pilots fly in to grab lunch there, commuters stop in for travel snacks less than a mile from I-55, and locals process thousands of whitetail deer here every fall/winter. We were lucky to stumble upon this store while travelling South on I-55 from St. Louis back to New Orleans. The staff was very friendly and there were free samples of most of the sausages and cheeses. There was even a deli serving hot and cold sandwiches. I tried the buffalo & elk and was quite surprised that there was no gamey taste with either of them. The store was impeccably clean and there was a wide variety of products to choose from. We patronized the store by purchasing some beef jerky, especially since they advertise as being the "State Champion". All in all, this is a cool little store. read more

Bought a Boudin that we placed on the Barbie... cooked it slow to heat through because the 'dressing' that is inserted in a sausage tube will normally split before heated through. Well, it split all the same. Upon putting one on the plate to enjoy, we found we may as well buy pork dressing at a markedly lower price because the boudin was absolutely tasteless although it was described as a 'cajun' style. Trust me, pass on this if not others as well. The dog didn't even like it as he tossed his cookies after one bite! We had what could have been a nice Barbie ruined with the consistency of mush and taste of over boiled rice. Never to buy such again. Well their billboards work on the hwy!! I saw 25 different flavors of Bratwurst... that was it for me. The Boy ordered a French dip ( should have ordered a BLT hehe) and it was good. I hate writing this and don't want to bash the service in store and whatnot because I've never been there. So anyways this review is for the beef sticks. Guy at work was selling them for a fundraiser for one of his kids. I bought the 24 pack that I believe has 6 sticks of 4 different flavors. He brought them in today and tried one of each flavor on my way home from work and was not impressed at all. They almost taste rancid and left the worst taste in my mouth. Now, I consider myself a jerky and beef/deer stick enthusiast. These may have been the worst ones I've ever had. It wasn't necessarily the flavors they had in them, just the beef stick themselves even the original flavor was just not good at all. I love their jalapeño and cheddar jerky!!! It's seriously the best! You can taste the beef, the jalapeño, and the cheddar!!! I love any snacks (food in general) that you're able to taste everything that's inside of it. Only downfall is that the jerky here is very expensive. A must stop if you find yourself in Southeastern Missouri. It's about 2 minutes off the highway. They have very fresh sandwiches and an array of fresh meats and cheeses. 2.5 stars, but I'm feeling generous and rounding up. If I were basing this review off of the BLT I had yesterday, it would be one star. Here's how to mess up a BLT: Toast the bread, but just enough so it's light brown and still soft. Serve it with hard, unripe tomatoes. It doesn't matter that the bacon had good flavor, even if it was limp and fatty. A BLT should be served on actual toasted bread. The tomatoes should be ripe; not green and not hard. It'd be nice, too, if the bacon were crispy. This was, without a doubt, the worst BLT I've ever had. However, my husband likes to stop at this place when we're down that way for the snack sticks or jerky or brats. He would probably give it five stars. Also, they have samples everywhere, which is nice. Maybe go for the meat market and avoid the sandwiches. read more

BLT was excellent. Pastrami, eh. Lettuce & tomato? On a HOT sandwich.....always annoys me. But, I didn't order it, so didn't have to scrape that off my sandwich. Which, let's face it, that's a bummer. My BLT, with American cheese on toasted marble rye, hold the mayo was wonderful. Only critique, it should have had a little more fresh iceberg lettuce. Otherwise, the requested well done bacon was great and the ratio of bacon to sandwich was spot on. They didn't cut the sandwich, which at first glance bothered me, but it held together so well. For a simple sandwich that can usually be fucked up, this was seriously, I think the best one I ever had out. Almost as good as if I made it myself. If you like BLT's, this is the spot. Understand I've been on a bodybuilding or powerlifting diet for over a decade. I eat POUNDS of meat every day. Some of my friends actually call me "Beef Jerky" because I love it so much and I buy it everywhere that sells it. This place had the highest prices I've ever seen for meat of equal quality. Beef Jerry was about $2.50/ounce and they had a bulk one pound bag for $33!! That's twice what i usually pay for filet mignon! I bought the smallest bag and I'm not that impressed. It's not even all natural. With all the chemicals, one would expect it wouldn't be tough as shoe leather. I've had much better for cheaper. At least the Amish butter is all natural. A smoke shop doesn't get to freeze all their meat and charge high prices. This is probably the only butcher shop I've walked out of without buying any meat. Just too expensive. read more

Pronounced "STAHN-EES" like "Bonnies". I'm a local and do like to go here occasionally. It's kind of a combination deli and meat department. They make their own sausage and jerky, which are all very good. They have a variety of packaged cheeses from near and far and most are Amish or small-farm cheeses. It's all tasty and they have free samples of just about everything in the store, which is awesome. The deli counter will make you sandwiches and occasionally has soup and chili. Their chili is excellent but they only serve it when the temperature outside is cold. I wish they had it year-round. Their sandwiches are all pretty good with the exception of the BLT. It was absolutely nasty. The bacon was tough, chewy, and in my opinion undercooked. If you like your bacon thick, greasy, and rubbery maybe this is your BLT. Otherwise stay away from it. Aside from the BLT most of their other sandwiches are really good. My biggest complaint about this place is their lack of a "combo" menu and poor fountain drink selection. For some reason, most of the independent restaurants in Perryville absolutely refuse to offer combos. Which means you have to order your chips and drinks separately at high cost. This makes lunch at Stonie's a $10-$12 proposition. The ordering and checkout process is a bit slow and uncoordinated. You have to explain to the cashier exactly what you ordered in the deli because they don't have tickets or anything. For large orders this is cumbersome and annoying to the customer. The checkout counter is also a peculiar L-shape and it's not clear where you're supposed to go or what line you're supposed to stand in. They also offer deer processing for all you hunters and custom-made sausages. They have a variety of raw meats like beef steaks and pork steaks. Have never tried these but they look very good. Friends tell me their raw meats are quite expensive but I don't doubt that you will pay more for quality. read more
