We were initially given a quote to complete a home in November with a 30x40 attached garage for $463,000, but just prior to signing a real estate contract this week, the price increased by $80,000 to $543,000 with no explanation. The only items we requested be added were a covered porch and rear patio, which added up to about $20,000 per the actual contractor quote we were sent. There is no reason the price should have jumped by $80,000. The sales person did not bother to reach out to us to follow up. Instead I had to contact both her and the new office manager myself. I have received conflicting explanations on the reasoning for this dramatic increase. The sales person told me the corporate office and new management has mandated "new pricing", and the new office manager stated all utilities including septic, electric, and water hookups were somehow "missed" in the initial estimate, even though they are clearly listed. My husband has requested a detailed breakdown of the new estimate to better understand where the number $543,000 came from, but he has received absolutely no response. The new office manager stated that if we wish to move forward we can do a standard size garage with no covered porch or rear patio, but the price would be $515,000, which is still over $50,000 more than what we were initially quoted for a home with a large garage. Needless to say, we will not be moving forward with this company. We have bought and sold multiple homes previously, and this is by far the most unprofessional company we have ever encountered. Avoid Clayton Homes as they clearly lack ethics and integrity.

My wife and I stayed here twice so far. The first time with my sister, brother in law, and niece…read morein room 14 (the largest room that fit all five of us and three dogs) and the second time in room 12 with our 18 year old son. The owners, Garth S. and his wife, are super nice and now have a newborn daughter. They allow pets and we brought our "fake dog", the Pomeranian, both times. The second visit, January 2020, we came to Durango for my wife's birthday. They kindly allowed us to check in early since we had to be in Purgatory at 3 PM for an Alpenglow snowshoe tour. The heater worked great and the room was clean. On Sunday, I explained to Garth that we were going to buy some grass fed beef at the nearby James Ranch Market. I asked him if we could store this beef in the freezer of room 14 since it would thaw by the time we left on Monday. He said we could store it in his personal freezer, behind the check in desk. On Monday morning, Garth knocked on my door and told me he and his wife were leaving into town. He gave me the frozen beef and I thanked him for his hospitality. This family run lodge treats you like a valued customer and we will be staying here again. Thank you Garth S. and family.

Well, to start this review I will have to tell you my booking experience with Trip Advisor…read more Beware of outdated information and pictures. The photos they have are from 2014-2015, and there is a link that goes to the lodge that shows more updated information and pictures. Booking with the lodge directly was easy and efficient. They do have a different check in that I had not done before. It was pretty easy and simple. Make sure and read everything before you go. My room was ok but, there are a few issues I noticed and had. 1st- my keyless door battery went out and had to text and call someone to come to put batteries in it. I did not appreciate the person who text me after I relayed the problem and acted as if I didn't know what I was doing. I have a keyless entry installed at my own home and when the batteries go out it will not work. No beep, nothing. They told me my keyless code, as if that was the issue. It was not. The person that came out to assist tried my code and another code, then had to call someone to unlock with a key....because the batteries were dead. Not once did anyone try to accommodate me for the issue. 2-one of the outlets didn't work. 3-door does not have good seal, bugs were coming in. 4- loud noise from room to the right, upstairs and from the road. I was in room #16. Air conditioner was very loud & remote had no batteries. To reach it to adjust temperature I had to use a chair. 5-floors were not swept. 6- not a good area to take your dog out to do their business. I would say that it was a ok walk to downtown Durango. The animas river walk was nice and you're going get your steps done. If you go right, then take a right at the first street that area is nice to walk your dog. There is also the off leash park not too far from there that was nice. I took a chance with this place, and I was disappointed and now I know. It worked for me for what I needed. It is for sale...so hopefully the next owner will do some good improvements...there's still potential for this old lodge
