The Red Clover Inn is a hidden gem. I went with my boyfriend for a long weekend and stayed an extra day. The suite we stayed in had a gas fire place and a balcony overlooking the wooded grounds. The decor was charming and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. The continental breakfast included make your own waffles which were delicious. The staff was helpful and accommodating. There was coffee, soft drinks, water and snacks available all day and night. The main inn had 3 or 4 areas to relax and play games. I cant say enough about the Red Clover Inn. I'm sure it would be a great place to stay during ski season especially if you wanted to get away from the big resorts and wanted a more relaxing place to enjoy your evening. read more

An absolutely wonderful experience! From start to finish RCI gave us an amazing experience that I would have never imagined we'd be capable of having. The property is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff was very accommodating. If you want a personalized experience, from someone who truly cares about giving you the wedding of your dreams, this is hands down the best option in Vermont. My sister had her wedding here and I was so blessed to be a part of the wedding party and get to stay at the property for 5 days with my family! I have been dreaming about going back since! I can't wait to book a girls getaway here as well. This venue is not just for weddings, it's a wonderful location for retreats, personal time away and so much more. My wife and I had our wedding last week at the Red Clover Inn. It was exceptional in every way. The setting, the accommodations, the food, the staff, the surroundings. As we had guests coming from all around the country, we decided to make a long weekend around our celebration, starting with a private smaller dinner on Thursday night in the tavern of the Inn (about 30 people). It was like our own private restaurant, which then turned into dancing with a DJ. The fresh salmon and farm-to-table greens (both fresh and sautéed) were top notch. On Friday night, we had a BBQ outdoors for our rehearsal dinner, with about 50 people. Again, the food was exceptional, especially the brisket (brined and smoked by them) and the Mac and Vermont Cheddar Cheese, and the fruit pies (mmm). On Saturday night, I had rib-eye that was cooked to perfection...amazing that they could do that with so many guests. My (new) wife had halibut that was tender and delicious. And our guests raved about the vegetarian option (Roasted Heirloom Tomato, Stuffed with quinoa, Kalamata Olives, Pine Nuts, Basil Pesto). Every day that offered healthy and delicious options for breakfast and lunch, with the Sunday brunch especially broad buffet options. Kudos to chefs Mike and Tom and the entire staff for keeping many foodie guests so happy. And the liquor choices were also incredible with three different signature cocktails each night, fantastic wine and local beers. The setting of the Red Clover Inn is magical, with many beautiful spaces, indoor and out. There is are large lawns, a pond filled with lilies, flowers everywhere, surrounded by forests and views of mountains. We had our wedding ceremony outdoors on the lawn, with my wife and I standing under a 100-year old apple tree with amazing 360-degree views. The indoors have many fun spaces, from a quaint Vermont comfy living room, to a sun room, to large dining room, and large tavern space, and fun bar area. And the rooms! The Red Clover offers a number of different options for rooms as we took over the entire estate. From super luxurious king bed suites with oversize jetted tubs and fireplaces, to smaller, well-appointed queen suites, to a 5-bedroom house (where we put all the teenagers together). There are beautiful spaces for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready separately. During each day, we had fun activities - both on property and off. The Red Clover offers a ton of lawn games and we played them all - frisbee, football, corn hole, ladder ball. On Friday morning, we went to the Killington Adventure Center for a mountain coaster, zip lines and ropes course, followed by lunch at the top of the gondola. On Saturday morning, we went on a local hike with unbelievable views (and a bit of the Appalachian Trail). And on Sunday, we went to a swimming hole with crystal clear water, multiple waterfalls and cliff jumps - so fun! Can't wait to come back for our anniversary!!! read more

My husband and I just held a small wedding at the Red Clover Inn. The wedding was perfect in every way possible. I still smile thinking about how well everything went during our wedding weekend. Covid forced us to cancel a destination wedding back in August. We reached out to The Red Clover Inn and we felt very safe in the Covid/social distancing/screening policies they would use. I was scared that planning a wedding in under two months would be chaotic but Carol's planning alleviated any fear. She helped make recommendations on local vendors, all of whom were top notch. Carol and Sarah were so delightful to work with, answered every question and gave great advice. The setting was beautiful. The Inn is set back in the woods with the peak of Pico Mountain in the background. Tranquil is the way I would describe the grounds. I was looking into a custom arbor to get married under when Carol recommended using their apple tree. There is a huge, beautiful apple tree next to a pond. The branches drape over the wides. My husband and I could not picture a bedding wedding ceremony, all of our guests agreed. My husband and I have been to the Red Clover Inn for a long weekend in the past and have always been impressed with the food. It is actually one of our favorite restaurants. We got to meet with Mike the executive chef and customize a menu for the entire weekend. We both can't state enough how good the food was. The rehearsal dinner, wedding day lunch, cocktail apps, wedding dinner and the breakfast were all phenomenal. We have both been to many weddings and this weekend's food was on a completely different level. All of our guests raved about the food, I was so happy. As for implementing Covid policies, everyone got tested prior to the wedding. Sarah had a temperature probe to screen all the guests as well. The staff wore masks and we even had wedding masks made up for our guests. Everyone felt safe for the entire weekend, had fun and felt normal for the first time since March. We have had no Covid related issues since the wedding. I would like to thank Carol, Sarah, Mike, Tom and all of the Red Clover staff for helping us have the perfect wedding. The restaurant and the inn were both awesome! We stayed here on a Saturday night in April and made reservations for dinner when we checked in. The room we chose, Dan's Room, was very close to the main building and had cable TV, which not all rooms have. We really appreciated being able to view photos of each of the rooms on the website before we chose which one we wanted. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. I recently had an outstanding meal here. And it was by accident. We wanted to go out to a nice meal. But it was Sat night. Between Rutland and Woodstock VT. I would have driven to either. But when I called (last minute) to make reservations, everything was full. Except the place that was less than a mile from our hotel. I hadn't called them first because of the price point. You see, I wasn't buying. At least that's the parameter I was working under. Kim was treating, but I was picking. So I wanted to be respectful and not pick a highly priced place. You know how it is. However, after calling 4 other lower priced (but highly Yelp rated) places, I was left with this place to call. And they had room. For 2 at 7. So off we went. Dressed appropriately, for VT anyway. We arrived at this lovely hotel/restaurant. It's a hotel that has 13 or so rooms, and a restaurant that all can go to. Not quite farm to table, but close. Menu changes with what's available. And it was a nice menu. Diverse. Fish. Shellfish. Poultry. Steak. Vegetarian. All options. And none "easy". Kim had the bacon wrapped tuna. She asked if it could be just tuna, but the chef had already wrapped it. Frankly, I thought that was odd. Wouldn't you keep the tuna whole until it was ordered? I would. But I'm not a chef. But Kim shared, probably why she's a size 2 and I'm not, and I loved it. Personally I prefer rarer tuna, but this was so well done that it worked at med rare (chefs preferred method of serving). I had the "birds of a feather" - duck and quail legs and breast with potatoes and more. Mine was fabulous. I'm super uncoordinated and probably should never pick anything with bones. But even so, this was awesome. And I ate it without mishap. I had a glass of wine. It's an interesting wine list, not too many options BtG - but those they had were interesting. Very. I went with a Hungarian white -largely because I hadn't had a Hungarian white before. I plan to look into more Hungarian wines in the future as a result. I quickly looked at the bottles they carry and honestly, it was a nice selection to choose from. We passed on dessert, the entrees were a nice sized servings. But I could see saving room for dessert too. Creme brûlée. Sorbets. A few other options. They sounded great. I'd eat here again. In fact, it could be a destination for me in the future. The moment we stepped foot in the Red Clover Inn, we knew. It was warm, welcoming, elegant and felt like home. No other wedding venue that we visited was nearly as charming and picturesque. When we first met with Carol, the Inn's Wedding Coordinator, we knew. She was personable, flexible and accommodating. No other wedding coordinator that we met with empowered us the way that Carol did - she reminded us that were the bride and groom, and that it was our vision she was going to help bring to life. This was a breath of fresh air after having met with many wedding coordinators across Vermont that made us feel as though we had to conform to their cookie-cutter vision of a wedding. In the eighteen months leading up to our special day, we stayed at the Red Clover several times so that we could meet with vendors and review details with Carol. Being from Boston, this was extremely helpful. This was also a chance for us to get to know the staff and familiarize ourselves with the venue. When we arrived on the weekend of our wedding, Carol and the entire Red Clover staff were already busy bringing our vision to life. They all worked so hard to make the experience easy and seamless for us. Their ability to focus on both the big picture as well as the small details was simply incredible. While the entire weekend was a whirlwind, we were able to let go of the reigns and enjoy every moment with our family and friends. There are so many things we'd like to call out, but we would be remiss if we didn't mention the food. Mike, the Chef, is a genius, and his food was one of the biggest highlights of the weekend for us and everyone who attended. We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Red Clover Inn. We booked their least expensive room (Maggie), which may explain why we felt it was a little on the spartan side. It could use a little bit of love in the decorating department (maybe some new paint, warmer art to evoke that "country inn" feel, a throw rug to cover the older carpet, replacement of the slightly shabby arm chair). The young woman who checked us in was very welcoming, and when she showed us to the room (it's in the carriage house), I realized that their description online is very accurate: there is a very narrow, somewhat steep staircase up to the room. My tall husband had to duck to get up to the room, and to go down he went backwards, ladder-style. If anyone has issues with mobility, this isn't the room for you; going sideways may be the only way for some guests to get downstairs. The bathroom was clean, though again, a little spare. Instead of tiny toiletries, there's a soap & shampoo dispenser in the shower stall, and there aren't any complimentary lotions. For me, that's fine, as I bring everything I need from home, but someone accustomed to using hotel toiletries may be surprised. That said, I appreciate the inn's efforts to cut down on waste, and this is an effective way to do so. The bed was comfortable and most important, it was clean. The room was quiet as the inn is set back from the sleepy road. The breakfast room was bright, spotless and busy on the Sunday morning we visited. Coffee carafes were checked and refilled promptly, and our orders were taken quickly. I had the fontina cheese omelet with breakfast potatoes, and my husband had the cranberry pistachio pancakes (he was offered sausage or bacon, but he declined). Each was accompanied by a slice of blood orange, and both dishes were well presented and delicious. Beverages were self-service, which was nice (no waiting for coffee or juice). As we were only staying overnight to attend a ski function, we didn't spend much time in the main building nor did we take advantage of the nearby activities. The inn was cozy, clean and with just a few improvements, Maggie could be a truly charming little gem. That said, we'd certainly return. read more

Recently we visited friends in the Killington area and spent a night at the Red Clover Inn. It was our first visit and we selected the inn based on TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The inn is at the end of short road off rt 4. The buildings are well maintained and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had booked a less expensive room in the Carriage House as we did not think we would be spending much time on the grounds, but to our pleasant surprise we were upgraded to the Charlotte room in the main house. The room was pleasant and well equipped. It was a comfortable room with thermostats in both the room and in the bathroom. There were reading lamps on both side of the bed which is, in our view, mandatory but not always done. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. We had a choice of a sweet or savory meal. There was plenty of coffee, fresh juices and water. We were very pleased and would certainly stay at the Red Clover again. read more

I stayed here with a friend for a night. The staff could not have been more welcoming and took us on a tour of the property. The staff were very accomadating. We ended up getting our room upgraded, it was a beautiful room and we had a wonderful time there. We also had dinner and the Brazilian Steak dinner plate is nopt to be missed, it was so tender and one of the best steak dishes I have had. Also split a sundae that was infused with bourbon and it was INCREDIBLE. I definatley highly recommend staying here and eating at their restaurant. I will be back. read more

Carol was the wedding planner extraordinaire and made sure everything went as according to plan -- including holding off the rain until the ceremony was finished while bride and groom stood under the 100 year old apple tree. My wife and I stayed here first in 2015. The staff is always courteous and provide anything we need. Carol is amazing and runs things properly and professionally. We loved it so much, we chose Red Clover Inn as the place we got married at!! Summers are beautiful and quiet. Winters provide everything to have a great mountain getaway. Its cute, the food is great. If you go, tell them we say hi. And have dinner at the restaurant at least once. We began our relationship with the Red Clover Inn while wedding planning- we stopped by to check out the place as a possible venue. Carol, innkeeper and event specialist extraordinaire, not only showed us around the rooms and the grounds, but offered us a free nights stay in the honeymoon suite, and a dinner reservation. The dinner was an average price for a ski resort town, but is most definitely well worth every penny. The food is a very Vermonty mix of farm fresh ingredients and elegant plating. Chef Jake makes a mean and creative mix of delicious seasonal meals! The rooms are a variety of sizes, ranging from cozy single occupancy rooms to expansive rooms with fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, and tons of space. Needless to say we had our wedding right there. Our friends and family were welcomed warmly, and every detail was well taken care of by Carol and the rest of the staff. Chef Jake whipped up not only a decadent and amazing wedding feast in a family style fashion, but they created a barbecue for our rehearsal dinner the night before. We were in Killington for my 50 b-day/ ski trip/ New Year celebration. Our experience at the Red Clover was SOOOOO Bad that I do not wish this upon anyone else!!! The Inn itself lacks charms/ character, void of all authenticity of its 1840 period architecture. It is construction remuddling, nothing but a few "boxes" in various sizes married together like a renovation that had gone bad. The main dining has no ambience. Our table was in the middle of the room and we felt like we were center stage because the rest of the tables were spaced too far apart and too few of them- nothing cozy about that space at all. There was no wide plank wood flooring that one would normally expect in a old country inn, instead, they have the econo narrow oak strip flooring, cheap beaded board wainscott installed, complemented by the cheesy gas insert fire place, that goes on and off due to the thermostat setting. The dinner was the worst culinary experience ever. It was a 3 course pre-fixe dinner for $85.00 per person. We were a party of four and they charged us 20% gratuity- totally uncalled for! They certainly did not wait on us hand and foot; their service was the bare bone minimum one would expect within the industry. For the first course we all had French onion soup. Their version of the French onion was nothing like norm, there wasn't any gruyere nicely melted and draped over the bowl. It was served in an oversized like ramekin, and was only half filled- worried about running out of food?? It tasted like salty bouillon with rosemary, with hardly any onions in it or cheese. For second course they served their version of the cassoulet with lobster. Nothing of substance or hearty like what one would expect from the real caasoulet- only a few chunks of lobster and the rest were white beans. Main course, my husband and one son had the beef Wellington- what a joke- if they were on the show "Chopped" they would have been chopped. It was for New Year's Eve, you would think they would put extra effort to make it special. The plating was bad-the beef Wellington sat on a pile of mashed potato with literally ONE broccoli floret on the side. How about fingerling potatoes and a few spears of asparagus or haricot vert instead?? As for dessert, it was either 3 single bite sized very dry cupcakes or bread pudding. How about trying to indulge us a little with something like flourless choc tort, or creme brulee, or flambé of some sort?? Mind you, coffee or tea was not even included, for $85.00. In our almost close to 25 years of marriage this was the very first New Year's eve that we didn't even open a bottle of champagne afterwards because of this horrendously bad experience at this Inn. The meals was almost $500- money was not the issue, it was the fact that it tasted so bad and they have the balls to charge that price! Even The Garlic down the road has a much better over all experience to offer...nice bar to hangout and certainly a much cozier dining room to dine in, something that the Red Clove can learn from!! read more

THE PERFECT WEDDING LOCATION. We selected the Red Clover Inn for our daughter's wedding in September 2017 and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. The Inn is a typical quaint and quit accommodation one expects to find in Vermont, located in one of the nicest and most quiet locations of Vermont. From the initial planning stage to final preparations, the actual ceremony, the reception and the accommodations, the whole experience was exceptional. You can't beat the service and attention of the wedding, hotel and restaurant staff, quality of the food and attention to detail. The whole experience was painless for us and everything was taken care of which allowed us to fully enjoy the wedding. We received rave reviews from the wedding guests which is a compliment to the efforts of the staff. This is the type of experience that one dreams of your daughter has and is something that one doesn't forget. read more

Took my girlfriend here as an anniversary surprise during the peak foliage season (early October). Overall, the place was warm and welcoming. Room first: I booked us the Ben Flint room, which was the largest room that had a King size bed, TV, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The room was separate from the main house and restaurant. As far as amenities go, for the price of the room ($370/night), I expected better quality soap and such - not just a dispenser in the shower. The room was clean, very open, warm and nicely designed otherwise. Staff second: We we're greeted warmly by the staff when coming in who showed us where to park and gave us a tour of the room and campus (showing hot tub outside, fire pit and restaurant). The host, waitress and bartender were all friendly and sociable. My only gripe is ID'd us a bit excessively which is understandable per our looks, but a bit ridiculous as no one under 21 can or is likely to book the most expensive room in the place. Also a bit shocked that with the amount spent, none of the drink rounds were on the house. I think to make this place above others, staff should know who in the restaurant has a room on campus and give a courtesy drink. Restaurant, third: Very cozy with four total rooms (3 to dine and a small bar). A real fireplace lit at all times in the larger room with two couches to relax on. The bar was well stocked - tons of scotch choices, my fav! Food was absolutely delicious - very fresh ingredients were used. The portions are not very large, but that is OK as quality makes up for it. Started up with a venison pastry puff that was very tasty. Girlfriend had the steak, perfectly cooked and I had the bacon wrapped quail which was a home run. The orange blossom creme brulee is one of my favorites. We had a chance to meet the young chef, who was passionate about his work - keep up the good work! Complimentary breakfast was served the next day, choice of waffles or omelet - both of which were highly enjoyable. Overall, there are very minor things that can be improved on as mentioned, but otherwise the Red Clover Inn is enjoyable, relaxing and perfect for a weekend getaway! read more

Beautiful venue for a wedding, however I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're black. Never in my life have I come in contact with a more ignorant, and racist general manager. Not only were my boyfriend and I singled out during the wedding ceremony and told to put our cameras away- as everyone around us continued to take videos and pictures- we were told our money wasn't good here and were refused to be waited on when trying to get a drink. I will NEVER step foot in this place again. I truly hope the general manager figures her own issues out and stops spreading such pure hate. read more
