Came to this restaurant and sat at the bar. Food was good, I enjoyed that. When it was time to pay I tipped in cash over 10% and paid with my card. Days later I get a notification that my card total was adjusted to add another $6.00 to my total for tip. Where do they do that at?!? I guess the bartender felt she wanted more!?! Thank You, Red Crab! We want to give a big thank you to Red Crab for hosting such a wonderful birthday celebration for our family -- honoring my mom and my two cousins. We decided to have a Hawaiian luau-themed party, and it turned out beautifully! The restaurant was very accommodating. If you're hosting a party for fewer than 25 people, you'll need to put down a deposit of $20-$25. For 25 or more guests, the deposit is $50. The great part? You get a gift card in return that you can use toward food, tips, or anything you like. We originally planned for 30 guests, then bumped it to 35, and we ended up with 40 people. Despite the growing guest list, Red Crab handled it with grace. Our waitress, Simone, was amazing! She took great care of us throughout the entire event. This wasn't our first time at Red Crab -- over the years, it's become the place our family chooses for special occasions. Everyone just loves it here. One thing I really appreciate is that the music isn't overwhelmingly loud like at some other seafood boil spots. It makes for a much more enjoyable atmosphere. We were allowed to bring in a birthday cake, which they kindly stored in the refrigerator for us. While confetti wasn't allowed, we were given the freedom to decorate and use the side seating area for gifts and setup, which was perfect. This location works just as well for a fun group celebration as it does for a romantic dinner or casual night out. They sometimes have karaoke or live music, and every time I've visited, the staff has been consistently kind and welcoming. As for the food -- my mother always enjoys the boil with two lobsters, crab legs, and shrimp. I usually go for the seafood pasta with just shrimp (delicious!). If you're not into seafood, they also offer chicken wings, chicken strips, and other non-seafood options. And yes -- there's a full bar with a great selection of drinks. We'll definitely be back. My friend went to Red Crab in Hampton, VA for a take out order. The prices were much greater than advertised on the internet menu. She brought this to the manager's attention, and he proceeded to be rude and disrespectful to the point where other patrons had to get involved. He then demanded his food back, after it had been given to her, and followed her into the parking lot, yelling and screaming after she had paid. However, I enjoyed the shrimp w/o head with corn and potatoes. I chose mild, juicy seasoning. My food was finger-licking good. I will return to this location again. I've never encountered an establishment where the staff member attempts to fight the consumer; and the manager, doesn't listen to the concerns of the customer. The is the first restaurant in which I ate that the server was wearing a firearm. The food was ok. I had a hard time finding something that was not fried and eventually settled for the Shrimp Fried Rice. My rice was salty. There were some sketchy people outside the restaurant. This was a last minute craving and recommendation I had for this place. I ordered 1lb of crawfish w hot Cajun sauce 1lb of snow crab w medium Cajun sauce And 2 lobster tails in medium Juicy sauce. The crawfish was delicious, the sauce too, I liked the sizes of the potatoes that came with. Very flavourful sauce. The juicy sauce is apparently Cajun, garlic butter and lemon pepper all together and let me tell you it was fire!! Thé lobster tails were not overly chewy, but the sauce is really what got my attention, spicy, tangy, so flavourful!! I will definitely return and have the juicy sauce with everything!! We came to Hampton for the Black Beard Pirate Festival. We decided that we needed a seafood dinner and found the Red Crab. We are SO VERY GLAD we did. We had hush puppies, a shrimp po-boy, fried shrimp with French fries, shrimp fried rice, and a seafood pasta. EVERYTHING we ate was delicious! The people were friendly, the service was excellent, and the restaurant was bright and clean. We highly recommend this place!! It was endearing to see people at their tables with napkins around their necks ready to dive into the piles of shellfish in front of them. Our waitress - I believe her name was Tatiana - was a true delight. She had a busy section but was at the top of her game, seeing to it that her customers were properly cared for. The food was good and you get a lot of it. The food is not cheap depending on what you're hungry for, but it seems worth the price just for being there. I do wish there were mixed vegetables in the fried rice and not nearly as much butter, but it was good regardless. Only complaint is that the stereo at the bar was turned up exceptionally high after 10 mins which overpowered another radio that was already playing so what started as a calm and quiet dinner ended up being a battle of the bands.
