Ordered from this restaurant for the first time last night as my husband wanted some shrimp and fish. I chose this place because of the location, the menu, and the decent prices. However, we will not be ordering from them again. Overall, my family did not enjoy the food. My husband said the shrimp was just okay, but the fish was very bland. Said it tasted like it only had been dredged in flour then fried. He also said the coleslaw was mushy. I thought this place was new but it was only new to me. I reviewed the reviews on this place and found them to be accurate. We ordered two fish and jumbo shrimp meals with fries, Cole slaw and hush puppies. Couple of things of the bat, hush puppies are not included, they are consider a side item and counts (if you get them) as one of the two sides that comes with your dinner. The jumbo shrimp, is not jumbo shrimp. It's just regular size shrimp. My fish in the dinner I don't believe was whiting but tilapia. The reviews said the food is under seasoned but I think it was seasoned fine. It was not bad but it did not reach my expectations. We called ahead so our order was ready as soon as I arrived. Nothing much to say about the restaurant itself for it is nothing more than a pick up place. Very expensive, we paid $34 for two dinners and that did not include tip. This was my first time dining at a Seafood Shack and DEFINITELY NOT my last time! The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, the service was EXCELLENT and the restaurant was EXTREMELY CLEAN from the front door to the restrooms!! The fried whiting and fried shrimp were cooked to perfection and super fresh!!! YELP I ate every bite !! The French fries were DELICIOUS, Hot and Fresh, and just the way I like them! The cole slaw and potato salad were delicious, nice and cold, and the Mac N Cheese was hot, just the way they should be! My husband loved his crab cake dinner and was very surprised that there was more crab meat than filler! He enjoyed the collards but was missing having smoked Turkey in them like he gets at home ! He didn't leave any on his plate! The Coconut Cake took the cake literally! OMG!! SUPER FRESH, DELICIOUS, MOIST and baked to PERFECTION ! OMGOODNESS! I tried this place because I was just at my doctor's appointment. That was right down the street, and the girl suggested it to me that she had just gone there and it was very, very good. So I left my appointment because it was 1:30pm and I hadn't eaten lunch yet, and I was so happy that I did! I loved loved.. loved the food that I got! I got the clam strip basket with fried okra as the side that I got to choose... Added 6 shrimp for only 5.99. When I took a bite of those clam strips. I realized how wonderful this was. This food was so so good and fresh. Not chewy or rubbery. I mean, the best I have had in so so long. I asked the guy if the clam strips were good when I went in and ordered. He just said, oh yeah, everything is fresh. Well, let me tell you. It was such a surprise to find out that what I ordered was absolutely delicious. I plan on going back here. This is the single worst food I have ever had. My wife got 4 shrimp(small ones ) and 6 waffle fries (sweet potato) after paying the $1 up charge. I've never had an issue when ordering from the seafood shack. Food is always fresh, hot, and tasty. I usually order through Uber eats and my food always has a nice crunch. This time I ordered calamari, hush puppies, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. The collards are a little bitter which is a plus for me because I appreciate a little bitterness. So I've really cut down with take out food. Used to eat out at least 3 times a week.. During the pandemic and especially after the first year I noticed such a decline in preparation, accuracy, and overall quality of food in most of restaurants. My go to for fast seafood for the last say 5 years has definitely been skrimp Shack but the one in Yorktown has deterred me from eating their food. After seeing good reviews and a good comment from the grub hub guy I tried Seafood Shack last night. The first thing I didn't like was when I called to place my order for pickup that they would not prepare it unless I put it on a credit card. Okay. I ordered fried oyster appetizer, shrimp basket with French fries and a side of Cole slaw. 28.00 dollars (expected) The menu said Jumbo Shrimp and they definitely were not, very small as were the oysters. The food was OK, just like I made it at home. Just didn't have anything tasty about it that says restaurant food. I was able to substitute bottled water instead of soda which I always appreciate. My boyfriend loves this place. He likes the fatty flounder sammich. Really crispy and flavorful. They also have their own tarter sauce that comes with the sandwiches that we really enjoyed and goes great with all the sides we ordered as well. Stopped here for dinner. Had a party of 12 adults and 6 children. We are far from home on vacation for the weekend. Boy were we supposed when we were greeted at the door by the less than cordial owner. He looked at us, told us it would be a wait because our party was so large, them proceeded to tell us if we didn't like his response "good luck" theres no other place to eat in town. We looked at him with confusion thinking he was kidding but he wasn't. The amount that we would have given his establishment in revenue would have been fairly large. Bad choice for me on a Sunday evening. Ordered the fried oyster basket with sweet potato fries to go. I asked for everything to be fried hard and when I got there to pick it up both the oysters and the fries were soggy. I had a feeling when I didn't see any holes poked in the box or vents. The oysters tasted weird and had juice dripping from them and the sweet potato fries tasted like just plain ol fries.
