Seafood trio $42, would not recommend! Greasy and overpriced for such tiny pieces of shrimp, scallop and crab meat.
Eunice F.

Service and the outside views were great, views overlooking the water. The crab dip appetizer was delicious at $18! And they use freshly squeeze oranges to make their Orange crush drink However the seafood trio dinner plate was a rip off... $42 for over cooked, greasy, unflavored tiny pieces of seafood. I got 3 small shrimps, 2 small pieces of scallops that were cut in half and a small portion of crab meat... the string beans were good but the potatoes it came with were dry... it just tasted like my plate was sitting under the heat lamp for too long and overcooked and dried out everything!

AMAZING! From the service we received when we first walked up to our meal I couldn't rave more. We started with the deadrise lemonades and crab dip! The lemonades were very refreshing and the crab dip AMAZING! The dip came with freshly fried pita chips and the perfect pairing to the dip! I had the crab cake sandwich and it was great! Cooked well, and great portion. My friends had the big fish sandwich and they loved it!! It was a HUGE portion but overall all the food was great and the service as well, would definitely recommend it

Great service as always and the food is excellent. Located in Fort Monroe area where you can take a nice stroll afterwards. The she crab soup is one of our favorites here.

Overall, the experience was absolutely fantastic. From the overall ambience itself with having the waterfront views to the delicious food, I was very much impressed along with my guest. From the hostess to our waitress, everyone was very inviting and also provided recommendations on what to order. All of the food that we received at our table was hot and you could definitely tell it was fresh. I would definitely go back to tryanother option or a special from the menu!

The Deadrise is a laid-back bar and restaurant near Fort Monroe on the water. Food is excellent and service is fun, friendly, and efficient. We started with an order of the She Crab Soup, which was large enough for us to share and was filled with crab and delicious! For entrees, we enjoyed the fish tacos, which were made of grilled mahi mahi today, and the salmon avocado BLT with crispy fries. Both meals were nicely seasoned. The BLT came in a hoagie type of bun, which was a little too much bread for me so I ate it as an open-faced sandwich, consuming only the top layer of the bun, which contained the avocado spread on it. Parking is in an open lot next door. You need to be able to climb stairs to the restaurant, as it's on the second floor. They also have a very nice outside dining deck.

Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere. The sun was setting on the water and our server checked on us often and despite being a large party, she gave us great service. Burgers, salads, soup, seafood OF COURSE were all great

Wonderful dinner on a Friday evening! Delightful and friendly service with our waitress very willing to make suggestion from the menu and always bringing what we needed with a smile! The clam chowder was great - only complaint is that it came out with bread rather than oyster crackers - yet still tasty! Our party loved the Big Fish fried flounder sandwich (huge and delicious!), wonderful crab cake entree, and the Oyster Po Boy . Topped off with a vibrant and bustling dining room, outdoor seating overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, and a gorgeous sunset! Lovely choice for a seafood dinner!

It's a hidden gem. If you are checking out Fort Monroe and want great seafood, give this place a shot. It's on the pier and looks a little run down from the outside. I think it is just a little weathered. But it's well worth it. The place is small, and there is seating outside when the weather is nice. It's right off the water so that it can get windy. The staff is fantastic, and the food is excellent. Go to the fort, explore, take a walk on the beach, and when you are done, get the fried shrimp. She crab soup is fantastic; it's loaded with crab, just a little spicy, and so good! I have a slight problem with the salmon sandwich. The bread is too small. They pile on the fish; with the extras, it's just too much to eat like a sandwich. What they should do is punt the bread and make it a salad. But the fish is cooked to perfection, so it's still very good. I would absolutely Go back.

We found ourselves at Fort Monroe around lunchtime and checked the map in the visitor center for a place to eat. This was the perfect spot! I had the fish tacos and my husband had the fried oyster basket. Topped off with Mango Cart and it was perfect. This place it exactly what you're looking for when near the water! As others have said- you need to go up the stairs but another customer said- it's worth the climb!

Loaded fried shrimp sea basket. ( We ordered double shrimp)

Is smoking allowed on patio? Have family visiting who smoke.

Smoking isn't allowed in the patio. However, the parking lot is not far from the patio and they can definitely smoke there!

I can definitely see why this place has the hype it does. At first we came in and it seemed kind of…read moreeh and there was no one in the restaurant but then our server came over and blew us away. Her name was Jen and she was amazing!!! I would totally go back to be served by her. The food was amazing I got 6 "laughing king" oysters and oyster chowder. My husband got the oyster po boy which he would rate an 8/10 (there was a lot of bread but still great) but the shoe string fries were easily a 10/10. I will definitely be back for this downtown corner cute wharf-like vibe!

While this restaurant isn't on the water, it's definitely close (2 miles) to a beautiful beach. The ambiance of this place has a great vibe. The interior decor has a great bar setting where you can sit up and watch TV and order some ice cold oysters. Or you could grab a table inside or outside and visit with family. We opted for the outdoors as we had a quick glimpse of sun on this rare April day, and got to sit under the umbrella patio. Our waitress was super accommodating and brought us our four oysters and tuna salad with shoestring french fries very quickly. My daughter ordered the fried fish sandwich that had melty cheese and some tartar sauce on it. It was a solid sandwich, nothing to write home about, but definitely gave us a beach ocean feel vibe. Four oyster sampler went from sweet to salty and didn't disappoint! They were fresh. They were cold and they had a great minionette and spicy horseradish to accompany.

I came again on a Sunday night cause their wings were "that good" before. This time I brought some…read morenew friends here to put them on to this establishment. Well, just like my previous visit, the service wasn't good.... Honestly, the bartender seemed to be deliberately ignoring us. He was more focused on "his boys". We witnessed a couple other people get the menu and leave because service was that slow smh... But, we patiently waited because we were hungry and I told my friends this restaurant has the "best wings in Hampton"! It took almost 30minutes of us standing there for him to finally get to us so we could order our drinks. Our drink order got messed up, our wing order got entirely messed up, and our bill got messed up. To be fair, I witnessed someone else complaining about their messed up bill too so at least I know he wasn't just targeting us... He just didn't know what the hell he was doing.. The music was dope (maybe a little too loud, but whatever), the DJ was excellent, and once again, THE BEST WINGS IN HAMPTON! Now, with that being said, I had to deduct another star because the service was that bad... Once they fix their service, I honestly think this place would be a gem! I'm not too sure if I'll come back, but I do recommend you give it a try if you're in the area!

They do allow smoking on the patio so if you don't like smoke, you may not want to sit back there. The service was pretty good. For our waiter to be the only one in the restaurant at that time, he was pretty attentive. I haven't seen any other sit in restaurants in the area serve fried crabs so that is cool. They put their own sauce inside and the batter has some spice to it. I wish the batter was a little thicker but it still got the job done. The fries were good and nicely seasoned. I also got old bay wings (not pictured), which were pretty good.
