    Fried cheesecake

My husband and I had an amazing meal here tonight. The owner was very hospitable and very attentive. Tia made us feel right at home. My only regret is not knowing about this place sooner since we were told they opened in September. After our delicious meal Chef Chop came and thanked us for dining with them tonight. I had the awesome shrimp and grits and my husband had the fried catfish. Great meal and then the fried cheesecake was so yummy. It's the only thing I had a chance to get a photo of. I can't wait to go back and try the gumbo and their fried chicken. I love a restaurant that makes you feel so welcome.

I had previously visited Roux Raw Bar And Grill for their soft opening and was definitely pleased with all they had to offer. I have since anticipated going back for a visit and trying what the new menu had to offer. I consider myself somewhat a connoisseur of sorts especially when considering pancakes as it has always been a childhood favorite. I seen the sweet potato flapjacks on the menu and knew it was time to give them a test and to savor my sweet tooth, of course a to go dessert was in order as I decided on the fried cheesecake to tame my crave. Once I placed my order online, I recieved a call and was delighted to be greeted by chef Chop himself. He let me know he was appreciative for my order and unfortunately was out of one main ingredient (sweet potatoes) to complete my order. He kindly informed me that he could replace it for a variety of other types he can make, and knowing his amazing skill sets, I let him know, Do what you do chef, as I'm sure it will be great. Feel free to surprise me. He obliged and got to work. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by staff and chef in the back as well. He told me it wouldn't take long to get pancakes out and he wanted to ensure they were freshly done when I arrived and they would be out shortly for me. Surprise! BANANA FOSTERS PANCAKES! Once I got home I plated my items and when I tell you these pancakes are everything, those words do no justice. Imagine the density and fluffiness of IHOP pancakes on a good day having a baby with Cracker Barrels hotcakes. Baaaybee... when I say perfection, it was bliss in every bite. The edges held a light crisp edge while the pancake itself was perfectly crafted. The highlight of this dish was definitely the syrup and the right touch of banana that seemed to be infused in every bite but definitely not too sweet, and just enough. Although this was just two flapjacks, I can honestly say my hunger was totally satisfied; and that usually doesn't happen with just two decent sized pancakes. On to dessert: FRIED CHEESECAKE My oh my... now I love a good cheesecake but all creamy delicacies are not created equal and most times come tasting unfortunately commercial. Not Roux Bar & Grill's though. They definitely pull out all the frills. The fluffy and slightly tart cheesecake filling is carefully wrapped like an egg roll, then deep fried and lightly covered in a magical powdered sugar topping. But wait... there's more! The star of this dish is definitely the freshly made Berry Compote! atop these crispy warm confections, it is the perfect marriage of tart meeting a savory sweet and just the right amount of crunch with the fluffy whipped cream filling. I was once again delightfully pleased and amazed with Chef Chops dishes as they were 5 restaurant quality at a reasonable price. Thanks again Chef Chop for another great experience and your craft at dishes that are made to please.

A hidden gem that looks to have a promising future. First thing, it may be a little difficult to see from the main street since there is not a larger sign up like the other neighboring businesses. However the food is amazing, and once you know where it is you'll definitely be back. The gouda mac and cheese was beyond typical, more than words can describe. Surprisingly it's wasn't even the highlight of the plate since every part of the dish was amazing in its own way. The collard greens were cooked perfectly, but the chipotle honey chicken was just at a next level from anything I've tried before. The service was great, our food took around 15 mins to come out and it was definitely fresh. I also enjoy their sign of "business disclaimer". To some it may seem perhaps abrupt, however, I view it as a great reminder to folks that everything isn't instant in today's world. Especially with a small business. Side note... Now I didn't order the Hennessy chicken but got to try it. I am not a Hennessy fan however can see that being a HUGE demand to those that do love that flavor. The chicken is somehow magically infused with the flavor.

Had to try this place out. We were visiting the area and two different people suggested this place and I'm glad they did. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be back to this spot.

Ordered takeout in the era of COVID. We were told 20-25 minutes, so we got there just past 25 min after ordering. The interior has spare decor with a large mural on the wall and New Orleans jazz music playing. There were three parties inside at bar top tables, spaced out. Unfortunately it took another 15-20 minutes for the food to come out. The single server did update me that "fries were being made fresh," but there were multiple disclaimer posters up warning about wait time of running out of food, so the delay may not be a unique event. Once the food came out, the server opened up each container to show me the food before bagging it. The garlic Parmesan fries had large shavings of Parmesan on them--quite decadent! We got fried oyster po-boys which were delicious! The oysters were perfectly cooked and seasoned, crispy outside and tender inside. The bread was the closest to Leidenheimers bread that I've had outside of New Orleans. The fries were a little soggy, but could be due to the takeout container. The food is definitely worth another visit, but we will make sure to set aside adequate time for the wait.

Door dash does not work at this time, I waited 40 minutes for a pick up plus another 20 minutes for my food, however everything was delicious. And over all I was satisfied. A very lovely hole in the wall and will definitely be back in the future.

The aesthetic of the restaurant is wonderful. If you're from Louisiana you will definitely feel at home and if you aren't will definitely give you a feel of the place. This restaurant is black owned by a Louisiana native and South Carolina native, a chef and a teacher combined to create this wonderful experience for many. They include raw bars and more all the food is made fresh daily. The restaurant itself is beautiful , they've created the chairs tables and bars all themselves . Just Wonderful ! I can't forever to tell you the food is amazing , flavorful, and hearty ! The drinks include real sliced fruits as well.

She recommended the turkey wings, so I went with that. I like my turkey wings well done and nicely browned, and I specifically requested the brownest ones in the batch. She told me they had just come out and were well done. When I got home, only the top wing was browned--the one underneath wasn't--which was frustrating since I made a very specific request. She also seemed to have a slight attitude about the request, which didn't help. The turkey wings themselves were just okay. The cabbage could've used more seasoning, but the white rice and gravy were good. Unfortunately, the cornbread that was supposed to come with the meal was missing. I would try this place again, but I'd likely order one of the other items I was interested in--not the turkey wings.

I placed a takeout order and experienced an unacceptable wait time of over one hour with very little communication regarding the status of my food. Throughout the wait, I received no meaningful updates from the server, despite being one of the last customers remaining in the restaurant. The server appeared to be the only employee handling customers and moved very slowly, which further contributed to the delay. While waiting, I observed several concerning issues that reflected poorly on the restaurant's professionalism and food service standards. Kitchen staff were openly arguing and using inappropriate language, including profanity, within earshot of customers. This behavior created an uncomfortable environment and was highly unprofessional. Additionally, I observed staff members walking around while wearing gloves and touching various surfaces and items before handling food. This raised concerns regarding proper food safety and sanitation practices. After waiting more than an hour, I finally received my order only to discover that the food was cold and one of the items I paid for was missing entirely. Despite the lengthy delay, poor service, and missing item, no apology was offered by any member of the staff. I ultimately left the restaurant with an $87 bill and a completely unsatisfactory experience. As a paying customer, I expected better communication, professionalism, food quality, and customer service. Unfortunately, none of these expectations were met. I am requesting that management review this incident and provide an appropriate response regarding the concerns outlined above. I would also appreciate consideration of a refund, credit, or other resolution given the significant issues with my order and overall experience. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you regarding how this complaint will be addressed.

This appeared to be great news. There was only one family of 3 sitting and a few folks by the bar for pickup orders, so we were hopeful that this would be a speedy experience as we were all hungry! We placed our order (party of 12) and waited 90 minutes to begin receiving our orders. Then over the following 45 minutes, each order was slowly brought out one by one. leaving the two kids meals for last - one of which was the wrong order. Typically, restaurants bring the kids meals out first as they are simple and usually the least patient customers (chicken tenders & french fries). After inquiring with the waitress for timing updates, a man came out from the kitchen to address my concerns. He was not apologetic and did not come out in good faith. He almost seemed a little annoyed that we were complaining. He stated that they can't fry the fish and chicken/french fries in the same oil. This leads me to believe that there is only one fryer. He also said that fried chicken takes an hour to cook. I am not a restaurant owner, but I can fry chicken at home for my family in less than an hour. A few of our orders were incorrect but we suffered through because we could not stand to wait another hour for a piece of fried chicken. From the various dishes ordered, none of them were anything to enjoy. The fried chicken was bland, absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The chicken & waffles (priced at $18) was 2 soggy eggo waffles and what appeared to be deep battered low-quality chicken (similar to chinese food sweet & sour chicken without the sauce). The mac n cheese was not good at all, no flavor, wrong texture, very dry. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like boxed mashed potatoes. Others had the smothered pork chop which also was flavorless. The bathroom was disgusting, unclean and was not maintained. The restaurant floors were a little slippery, your shoe slid a little when walking. Ultimately this restaurant got our time and money once but will never get it again.

The decor gives off major classic American vibes. Plus, right now they are celebrating the U.S. 250th anniversary, so the whole place is decked out in festive, classy decorations. The floral arrangements and styling are beautifully done--so full of character and style. Here are my honest thoughts on the food and experience: The Mains (10/10): We ordered two entrees, and both were incredible. The meat was so tender, juicy, and incredibly easy to chew. The flavors were totally on point. Wings & Fries: The chicken wings were great, and the fries were fried to a perfect golden crisp! My only tiny critique as a foodie is that the fries didn't seem to be fresh-cut from scratch. But they still tasted good! Sauce Heaven: I love that they have a huge variety of sauces right on the table. It gives you so many great options to customize your flavor combinations! The Atmosphere & Service: The waitstaff here are incredibly enthusiastic and energetic! Their warm hospitality completely made up for the fact that the AC was blasting a little too cold inside. One tiny tip for photo takers: The lighting at the tables is a bit on the dimmer side, so it's a little hard to capture the true, mouth-watering color of the grilled food on camera. But trust me, the taste more than makes up for it! It's such a wonderful, comfortable spot to chat, laugh, and catch up with friends. We started with drinks and ordered a mimosa flight (around $36) with four different flavors--mango, passion fruit, and a couple lemon-based ones. My friend also got a lavender mimosa. Individual mimosas were about $12 each, which is a little pricey but pretty typical for brunch. For food, we tried several items. The shrimp and grits were good, but not the best I've had. The bell peppers were cut pretty large, which I didn't love, but overall it was good. We also ordered the Biscoff pancakes. The flavor was fine, but the texture was not it. They looked thin but were actually really dense and thick. We prefer lighter, fluffier pancakes, so these were a miss. Honestly, you kind of needed something like milk to get through them because they were that heavy. The Nana's Chicken plate was good, solid, no complaints. It was almost like a sampler platter which I enjoyed. The turkey sausage was also good. The deviled eggs, though, were very underwhelming. They honestly just tasted like plain eggs nothing special. The highlight of the meal was definitely the short rib bruschetta. It was delicious and easily the best thing we had. My only note would be that there were a lot of tomatoes I would've preferred a little less, but overall it was really, really good. Service was fine. Our waitress was nice, but nothing stood out, it was standard service. The atmosphere was also nice. We sat at a high-top table; the space looks a little small, but there's actually enough room to move around. It wasn't too loud or too quiet and the food presentation was nice as well. One thing to note is that the menu seems to change. My friends had been here about seven months ago and said the previous menu was amazing, everything they had before was delicious. This time around, though, it just wasn't giving the same experience. If this had been their first visit, they probably wouldn't have come back. Overall, I'd say Sate was just okay this time around. A decent brunch though. I'd probably wait until they update their menu and maybe give it another try, since it seems like they've done better in the past.

They were hired to cater our wedding that was originally scheduled in November, but we had to postpone the wedding due to the world's recent COVID pandemic. We had already paid $1000 deposit, and we didn't want to lose that. They offered to allow us up to 1 year, to use the deposit. So, we decided that we would use them for my bridal shower, which was for 20 guest. Keep in mind that they were perfectly fine with the date change; but all of a sudden, I was told, via phone conversation, that there was a $250 tasting fee since we cancelled the wedding and changed to a different date. No where in the contract did it state there would be a $250 fee for tasting if there is a cancellation or date change. Let's keep in mind contract was NOT cancelled, as they did provide a service, on 10/17/2020. So, again why were we charged a tasting fee? Didn't want to make a big fuss about it, so I asked for an itemized receipt for the items listed below, however, I was provided with a new, and modified contract that showed these items: 20 servings of Bang Bang Shrimp 1 pan of Meatballs 40 assorted pieces of fried chicken 1 pan of Sweet Potato Soufflé 1 pan of Mac and Cheese 20 servings of pasta salad Fruit Tray Veggie Tray Fee Schedule Service Full Package Service ...... $750.00 Tax 13.5%........................................ 101.25 Gratuity 15 % ............................. Total........................................ $850.25 Now, the food...the chicken was not fresh, it had obviously be reheated, dry, no seasoning, looked as if it was fried in old grease with black specks, it was so bad that we threw away 30 pieces. The mac and cheese was dry, cheese only at the top, and not throughout. I say, if you can't successfully make these staples, then there is no need to be a soul food business. Ok, then there was the Bang Bang shrimp, mushy and was garnished with red cabbage and lemons...hmmm. Anyway, the fruit and veggie tray was ok. We did put the fruit tray on a nicer plater. Actually, we put everything on a nice platter, as I will not serve out of tin pans like they do a BBQ's. Meatballs, were just ok. The pasta salad was dry, and had to add to it to make it taste like something. I say all of this to say, we threw $1000 in the trash. It amazes me how people portray to run a successful business with excellent customer service once they get your money. All the other vendors worked with my fiance and I, and I really thought Ms. Mary's would have too. Well, I guess they thought they did by allowing us to use our deposit for my bridal shower, and I do appreciate that, but to provide us with a product that wasn't of quality or freshness was unacceptable.
