This place is great, long standing football pub!! We were in Florence, looking for a place to watch "NFL Football" (Buffalo Bills). This place is really well set up, and hey gear towards NFL on Sundays - Red Zone in main room and then individual games on in the back room (first come first serve, seemed to be a bit of a Pittsburgh Steelers bar so that game will likely be on). Great drink and food specials and quite reasonable prices. Really nice staff and manager, Francesco, knows what's he is doing in terms of what games are on. Bar really seems to cater to sports and to Americans with US style food and drink specials and some US themed decorations. If you looking for a spot to watch the NFL, this is the spot! read more

Wing Wednesday ( 40cent wings) is my favorite day. They're not the traditional crispy wings us Americans know, it's authentic chicken "wings" with a huge selection of different sauces. The atomic sauce is outrageously spicy so be careful! Lol I lived in Florence for 5 months and this was a great Americanish type place. good beer and good and music. Great place to watch a game with friends or even let loose at night on the weekend. Definitely a younger crowd, as well as the waitresses. They hire students every now and then which is pretty cool. Red Garter is literally a beacon for all the American college students living in Florence. I studied abroad there during the summer and it was never empty on any given night. They place all the popular American music (whatever it is at that time) and European favorites. There are two parts to the bar area: the front area where the actual bar is, and the back area where there is a stage for karaoke and picnic like benches on the ground floor and a lofted area over-looking the stage. The drinks here are pretty decent and super pricey either. If you're looking for a fun time, this is definitely one of the places to hit up, especially because it is so close to a secret bakery, which is prefect after a night of partying and drinking! read more

People are dancing to the music which is pretty good in the front and singing random songs to karaoke in the back. Very young crowd- definitely not a place for locals. Most people seem to know each other- def looks like a whole study abroad program from somewhere in mid-US was there together partying. So much potential but wasted. Great setup, with TV's playing sports, but very indifferent service. Despite being as polite as possible we were still treated like an annoyance. I've been to the garter many times for many different reasons, sometimes to dance, sometimes for beer pong other times for some American food and once in a while to just play a nice game of shit man when I want a lazy night out in Florence. While its not a grade A slice of chic you can usually always have a good time here if you're not a snob and a half. Therefore, I would definitely tell you to give this place a shot and I hear the Sunday brunch is pretty good! The owner is also really nice which is something I admire in a business over (if you're a dick I refuse to support your establishment, lets just put it that way). Have fun! read more

We came here with our Contiki group and were joined by another Contiki group making this place go off on a Tuesday night! It was a lot of fun, there were two parts of the bar - one part had normal music playing and the other part had the karaoke where everyone started to dance. The drinks weren't super cheap and to be honest they were pretty awful, but the atmosphere is fun and we easily spent hours there. Had a really great time. read more

Good American joint, if that's what you are looking for. I wasn't able to experience the night life part. I hear it is awesome. They have happy hour and lots of American cocktails. Some American and Italian beer. Place is great for groups. There was a huge beer dispenser you can order (for like 4 people). Looked awesome. You can order 1L of cocktails. Kinda cool. This bar is full of Americans studying abroad which simultaneously means it is full of creepy Italian men looking to get with American girls. I would give this place two stars because the DJ was like 50 years old and played really awful American music BUT one of the nights we were here, they played Latin music and I had an amazing time! The drinks taste fine but the bartenders have very limited knowledge of drinks outside of the menu. Plus they're waayyy overpriced. This is a good place to go if you're unfamiliar with the Florence club scene as I once was. However, once I found the good clubs, I forgot all about Red Garter. read more

This place was a very random find. It seemed to be American-themed and was filled with tourists! We heard English being spoken everywhere, often drunkenly, by a happy and young crowd of people who were clearly having a great time studying abroad! By young I mean very young, I think my boyfriend and I were giving relationship advice to a 19-year old by 1 am. They are clearly not going for a classy vibe - it's sort of vaguely country? Definitely relaxed and actually pretty funny, for an American to see. We had trouble finding real "bars" in Florence, and this was just down the street from another bar, so clearly this is a good area to go out in if you've had enough wine for the rest of your life and just want to have a beer and yell "yeeee haw!" read more

This place is great if you're looking for a break from Italian cuisine during your visit. They have typical American bar food (Wings, nachos) and the service was great as well. We were actually surprised by how good the food was. There was an American family next to us that was raving about the Florentine steak. This place mostly consists of Americans. My boyfriend and I just came by because we needed a good beer after 7 hours of a wine tour this afternoon. Honestly, had better beer. I am a student studying abroad, and I absolutely have a blast every time I go to Red Garter! Great atmosphere, friendly workers, and good music (including throwbacks!)! There is a karaoke section, where you can enjoy the singing or another room just for dancing. And then a restaurant/bar section. it meets all your needs and has cheap food/drinks! The strawberry margarita is BOMB. the floors do get very sticky as the night progresses, so keep your shoes on! And it can be a sausage fest, but it's so fun! Whoo! read more

The wine poured was spoiled and she could not be bothered even though it was well within her means to make the situation better. Having so much Italian food and needing something besides pizza and pasta, a friend told me about this place. We walked over and looked at the menu and were extremely happy to see stuff that seemed like good old American grub. When we walked in the hostess immediately only gave us a high top table option, though there were several open booths and an entire back of the restaurant that was open. She told us everything was reserved and she couldn't help us. She was EXTREMELY RUDE. She refused to sit us anywhere. (Just my boyfriend and I) I was shocked. We walked outside and I began to google map something else. My bf New I wanted some type of American type of food...so he said he would ask someone else If we could be seated in one of the 20 tables open. Luckily he got us a table, unbeknownst to this front hostess. From then on our server was good and the food was exactly what we needed. The original hostess delivered us our food, looked at us and scowled. It's like it made her so angry that we had a table. I asked her for a ranch and she never brought it. Though I was angry in the treatment from this woman, she was the only bad part about the bar. Hope no one else travels 6000 miles and gets treated the way she treated us. read more

While on a study abroad trip to Florence, my friend and I found this place and loved it for several reasons. The location was close to our accommodations. The menu had a strong variety with reasonable prices. We always had friendly and fast service. Unlike other restaurants in Florence there was no cover charge for dining in. Added bonuses were karaoke on the bar side of the restaurant and Taco Tuesday every Tuesday. Highly recommended! read more
