Several people showed up, and the space was full of energy, but mellow energy rather than an aggressive drum beat. Before I joined the drum circle, I asked the bartender if they had Kava, and she said " I'm just about to make myself a lavender kava drink". I replied " make two". Later on, I had another drink with cacao and shilajit. It was an amazing power boost. When the drum circle was done, I went out to the back where there is a very nice yard. I sat there and watched the stars, and an unidentified aerial object flew by. Quite an interesting evening to say the least. Several interesting events take place here. There is a clothing section and a furniture section, plus vegan food is served. Not to be cliche, but this is an oasis of calm in the hustle and bustle of the city.

We hired Karen and her team for a dinner/ party to celebrate after a wedding on the river at a friends home...It was wonderful and the entire team did a great job making sure the delicious food stayed warm, as it was cool on the river in November. They were able to provide everything and THAT was fantastic! We have used Mai Oui Gourmet a few times since for different events and I always look forward to seeing what creative options they suggest! Having a great caterer makes any celebration better!!

I was sent a sample menu by the owner without even consulting her as to the specific foods I wanted to see on my proposal. She went through and chose things for me and threw it on a proposal expecting me to book. Once I explained to her my frustration with what happened, she explained that no one knows what they really want. I was appalled and decided that I wanted nothing further from them. I went with another caterer who thought it was best to listen to me and then give me a proposal based on what I chose. My second experience was at my neice's wedding. The ceremony was perfect, but when we got inside, I could hear the owner talking to her employees. I was at a loss of words that anyone would speak to another person that way. I was also shocked at how she spoke to the Wedding Coordinator, my other neice. I understand asking someone to do something, but to angrily demand a Wedding Coordinator to do something is unbelievable. The coordinator had a timeline for the event and the owner had her own timeline, which was not the same. The coordinator and the owner of the company seemed to battle over control the entire night. The coordinator tried to dismiss tables to eat, but then the owner decided that she was doing it. There were two more incidents that night between the coordinator and the owner. The food was ok. We were served from food stations. The quantity of the food we got on tiny plates wasn't the best. The plates were dirty and the silver wear was old and had dried water spots. I was anxious to try the shrimp and grits. The presentation was amazing. I asked the server what was in it and she told me grits, with bacon and shrimp that was fried in bacon grease. Uuugh...I had to pass on that. After both experiences, I am happy that I chose someone else to do my daughter's wedding. It turned out beautifully and without incident. Our chosen caterer didn't try to take over our event. She handled the food and let the Wedding Coordinator do her job.

The rating is more reflective of the wait time for my friend's order when we were at the same table, that they were out of oxtails, and the size of the lamb chops (tasted great but very small) and only the flat portion of the turkey wing for the price. Some suggestions for menu items: a 3-vegetable, 4-vegetable plate and fried green tomatoes would be nice.

The taste was so bad that I had to go inside myself and ask for a replacement. When it came time to order food, I asked questions about a few menu items and received very short, unhelpful responses. The wait for our food was extremely long, and when it finally arrived, it came out in pieces instead of together. We ordered items similar to nearby tables (wings, oysters, salad, etc.), yet other guests received their meals promptly and all at once. The biggest issue was the lack of service afterward. Once our food arrived, our server completely disappeared. We sat there for approximately 45 minutes to an hour without seeing her. My dad eventually asked another server if she could find our waitress, but she brushed him off and didn't help. He ended up looking for the waitress himself and still couldn't find her. A food runner was finally the person who helped us locate her. When it was time to pay, the bill amount didn't seem to make sense and was much higher than expected. The payment screen was already advanced, making it difficult to review the charges. At that point, we were exhausted and ready to leave. After taking payment, the waitress immediately walked away without so much as a thank you or have a good day. Overall, the food was overshadowed by poor service, lack of attention, long wait times, and an overall feeling that we were treated differently than other guests. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had and I won't be returning.

I did a Google search for caterers in our area, and Catering by Liz popped up. She also came in as a strong recommendation from our aunt, as they catered to events that she had been to in the past and was impressed. So that sealed the deal and we went with Catering by Liz. We are so happy that we went with them. The service and professionalism are outstanding. Harmony was our point of contact and she did an amazing job. She is great with communication and always responded to our emails within 24 hours. She also accommodated our work schedule and was able to set up an appointment on a weekend for the tasting. The sample menu that they have is pretty extensive but not exhaustive. We chose some food items from their menu that went along with a Greek theme since we were married in Greece. We also requested to see if they could make some foods that we had while we were there. We showed Harmony pictures of the foods we wanted and told her what was in them and what they tasted like. She said she would forward it to the chefs to see if they could do it. We were so pleased when she emailed us to let us know that they were able to recreate the food items...and the food was perfect (if not better!) The guests at our party were in love with the food and kept raving about it. We also had a bar service set up where we provided our own booze and they provided the rest (bartender, glassware, ice, sodas, juices, etc.) The bar service was excellent and the guys working behind the bar were on point. I never saw a long line for drinks and everyone was happy with their drinks and the service. We are very, very pleased with the services that they provided (and at a very reasonable cost!), and will not hesitate to use them again to cater for any large parties that we may have!
