Probably one of the best American cuisine in NE Florida. Can't say enough. Staff is friendly and competent. A very nice bar and bartender. Parking is great. We recently dined at Hilltop, an old favorite from our past. We were not disappointed in the service or food. Our waiter Robert was very good. He immediately took care of our cocktails & took the time to go over the menu & great suggestions. My husband had the prime rib & loved it. I had the salmon it was delicious. The restaurant is dated like I said we attended many holidays & special occasions here 20 years ago. But must say it's been well maintained, beautiful garden, sunroom & a bar. The hilltop is a hidden vibe in Orange Park. It's a old mansion, very vintage, used a lot for different events. They have several event spaces to choose from according to your size and needs. They have a very good menu with items like escargot and prime rib. The prime rib is usually a special on certain days and priced well. They do offer a great happy hour menu as well. My event was a wine and cheese event social and the bartender was really attenitive, and the servers are always so sweet. . Check their menu. We had an an enjoyable time celebrating the anniversary of two dear friends at The Hilltop. We were seated quickly with all our party of eight by the maitre'd, drink orders taken and served quickly by our very gracious waitress. We had to try the escargot appetizer as it has been awhile since I found any on the menu. They were delicious but were lacking a bit in the amount of garlic I have come to enjoy. I chose the signature specialty of the house with a very generous cut of medium rare prime rib served with to die for glazed carrots and sweet potato / mashed potato mix which was also spectacular. The service was great with very attentive staff. The dinning area we were in got quite loud with a raucous gatherings at several nearby tables but was manageable. Overall I would highly recommend The Hilltop for anyone's special occasion with reasonable prices, great service, and great foods. read more

My first visit and not my last firstly decor and majestic old wold ambiance is second to none in Jacksonsville. The service was 5 star and polite and very professional. The food was very well prepared and presented. Particularly the desserts. This was a fixed menu event that was very affordable and good value. Very nice venue! Servers are amazing. We went for Thanksgiving and early for our reservation but were promptly seated. Food was AYCE buffet style with carving and omelette stations. Some dishes were kind of cafeteria-ish others, just OK but many were good. The green beans and peel n eat shrimp were phenomenal! As was my mushroom made to order omelette. I wasn't feeling my best so I think my taste was a bit off but my spouse got my share too and got several plates. We enjoyed the experience. It has been a long time since I've been to the Hilltop. I took my mom on a Tuesday evening in December and we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, prices were fair, the server was phenomenal, and the place was beautiful and decorated for the holidays. We started with the crab and spinach dip and it was good and the pita bread was amazing! It was a little crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, buttery, and warm. We split the filet mignon entree which came with a salad and 2 sides. Everything was delicious, especially the steak. You also get rolls for the table. I got a glass of the Clos Cabernet and it was really good, especially with the steak. Our server was so nice and attentive. She boxed what we didn't eat and made sure we were through with each course before bringing the next one. It was pretty empty, but I already have plans to return. read more

This place is not really known for their food and I understand why. It's more of a wedding venue than a restaurant. The place itself looks really pretty for a wedding event. It has a nice romantic feel to it. But, we didn't go here for a wedding; we went here for a birthday dinner celebration, and I don't think we'll come back again just to dine. The food was just okay. We ordered their prime rib (medium rare), which was way overpriced. And, we also ordered their daily special which was a salmon bake, which was okay and overpriced for the size. The sides that our meal came with were too salty. We did like the bread they served. As for the interior, we sat at the lounge first while we waited on the rest of our party, and their AC was leaking right on the bar. The water droplets were landing on us and on the counter. We had to move so it didn't land inside our drinks. So really we just stood around the bar area. The positive side is that the staff was very friendly and attentive. I doubt we'll come back here anytime soon, unless we attend a wedding or special event. read more

My family attended the Mother's Day Buffett at 11:00 am. The Ambiance was good, the service excellent but the food lacked matching the tasty online descriptions. The prime rib mooed as the dull knife and handling (grabbing meat to turn by hand) of the meat from the server was lack luster. The small pieces of dry overcooked fish didn't make it in the "let's not taste this column) the mashed garlic potatoes had actual whole pieces of garlic incorporated which was a surprise you had to remove from mouth. The French toast sticks were hard from over toasting. The chicken was an odd looking mixture of a bunch of things and also other "let's not taste this column" which one of our guests did not get the message and voted it out after tasting. The side dishes reminded me of a pot luck dinner side, not chef material. The omelette cook was okay but he forgot the quiche and someone else had to make it according to server. It arrived when we were leaving. The fruits and cheese were good, the salads were good but no American staple of ranch? Finally the desserts were plenty to choose from and very good except the cheese cake I'm told by others. Can't please everyone. I would rate this event two stars and that is for everything but the food. For $225.00 for four people, we were not impressed at all. We decided never to come to buffet again. This is one of the most beautiful, historic locations in the area. I live within walking distance and the atmosphere is incredible. This is the perfect place for a fancy date for drinks or dinner. At the bar, they have great options for food; I had the Prime Rib Sliders, which come with onion and horseradish on the side. Absolutely delicious!!! The food is phenomenal as they take tremendous pride in their selections. The staff are extremely friendly and provide excellent service. I highly recommend visiting here for a happy hour with friends as their specials at the bar are incredible and so very tasty. The sliders have thick pieces of prime rib and perfectly seasoned with the onions. I added a little au jus and horseradish and it was amazing. I want to thank the owner for his response and suggest a couple things. Before you serve the food to your customers, have a plate of it yourself and if you had trouble keeping up with the amount of seatings perhaps you booked too many reservations. This hidden gem is one of my favorite Orange Park places to be! Great happy hour pricing, amazing food. I am obsessed with their Osso Buco, both as an appetizer and entre. Attended my best friends wedding here over the weekend. It was a lovely wedding. The Hilltop was a great choice. The outdoor section was beautiful. Setup was done nicely. The space for the reception was great. The food was good. Salads and bread, potatoes, mixed veggies, chicken and beef. There's great photo ops around the restaurant and property. Perfect venue for a wedding! (not mine! Lol) The name suggests the nice location, but that's not all this place has. Think old school romantic vibe: big bay windows, lots of private rooms and a ballroom to accommodate parties, a wrap around porch complete with rocking chairs. The mansion is surrounded by lush greenery and colorful flowers, but for prime photo op spot, go to the back of the house like what our wedding party did. The wedding was limited to 120 people which comfortably fit in the ballroom. I'm not sure about the price point for this party size, but we did appreciate having our own bar (open bar too!) and a good sized dance floor. We even had space to set up a mini "photo" area on the corner and the photographer brought her own props (wigs, hats,etc) My only complaint would be the bathrooms: only 2 stalls in the ladies room?! This place is beautiful! It's so old-timey feeling and sets you back in a different mindset. The outside garden was set up for a wedding, but from what I saw it was super pretty. The main eating area was very nice and the main floor was split into 3 different rooms. We were there for a surprise birthday party and had the room over to the right rented out and it was carpeted with a nice, subtle lighting. Not going to lie, kind of felt like I was walking through The Haunted Mansion because of how it was decorated and how the restaurant was designed. The main room had wood floors with a bar and a piano, and the other room had glass windows overlooking the garden; by far my favorite room!!! For dinner I ordered the Chicken Sergio and my fiancé had the New York Strip Steak. While we were waiting on those, we got our salad with the best dressing ever and our bread - warm and soft! When our food finally came it was the perfect temperature and had wonderful design. I tried my fiancé's steak (which he seemed to very much enjoy) and it was so good. It was cooked amazingly and was so tender. My chicken was the same, tender and full of flavor. I wish the sauce wasn't so strong, but it didn't break the meal. Last but not least, HUGE portions. I only ate about half of my Chicken Sergio, believe me, I tried. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Always filling up our cups and what not. I attended a high school sports award banquet for my nephew here at The Hilltop Club and Restaurant. This is a favorite hidden spot for locals set in a converted Victorian mansion on a hill. The impressive grounds are filled with sparkling water fountains, fragrant flowers, lush green foliage, a festival of trees and percolating ponds with white picket fences and generous parking. The banquet took place in their Grand Ballroom which holds approximately 200 guests. This particular area is rented for $1500 for four hours and the food was served buffet style. The service was smooth as the staff did a great job keeping our sweet teas filled, serving all of the desserts, keeping the coffee pots filled, clearing the tables and efficiently attending to a room full of hungry guests. OK, now think: high school boys, 200 guests & budget. For dinner, we had Italian Baked Ziti and fresh garden salad with a choice of Honey Poppyseed and Ranch dressings served with warm garlic butter rolls. Definitely tasty...just like a meal you would eat in the comfort of your own home. Uncomplicated, yet satisfying. Not gourmet, but solid food and appropriately chosen for this group. Overall, there is no doubt everything about this location is quite charming. I have yet to eat off of the "fine dining" menu so I really cannot comment on the chef's specialties. However, my experiences here so far have been delightful and I look forward to coming back for that special occasion and perhaps try that rack of lamb Monica S. raved about in her review a while back. The customer service at Hilltop is Outstanding! We spoke to Chad to place our pick up order for my husband's early birthday dinner as well as one who provided us with our order when we arrived. He gave my husband a sample of the she crab soup and was very friendly. My husband loved that Chad was very personable and cracking jokes with him. We found the Hilltop through restaurant.com with a promotional offer that they had going. We opted to do a pick up order However they offer outdoor seating for those who would like to eat at the restaurant. We ordered two king size prime rib medium rare. I had the zucchini and sweet potato mash, with a mixed green salad. My husband's sides included the bake potato, glazed carrots, and a Cesar salad. The king cut is massive and depending on how hungry you are can be split. The price is comparable to the quantity and quality of the food you receive. We are new to the area and decided to try a few new places for dining. Even had a coupon for $25.00 off! The Hilltop Restaurant is a charming place that looks like it really should be down in Key West with it's trees and wrap-around porches and back veranda for receptions. It's that beautiful. Dinner was no exception. We tried a few new dishes that were excellent and the staff EXTREMELY attentive to their customers. Love the piano man and Angelo a host in the purest sense. We came on an evening where they were set up for Halloween. It was hilarious! Dang near scared myself witless at the front door where a skeletal woman was holding a mummified baby in her arms. My guy laughed as I screeched. :-) Had to really hold my stomach from laughing when I needed to go to the bathroom and asked my guy for directions. He said, "Go straight after Hellraiser. Left at Chuckie and past Freddie. If you see the guy with a chainsaw, he's not with us." Too funny. Needless to say, if you have a special date night planned, an event or simply looking for a new place with excellent food and an upscale atmosphere that is laid back, make a reservation at the Hilltop. Chad and Stacey were an absolute pleasure to work with, the food (especially the mahi mahi) was tasty, and our guests all had a great time.
