Played the Hills course for a charity outing in September. It was my first time playing there but I wanted to qualify my review as it was a shotgun event. We had a scramble format and I was really pleased with the course and overall outing experience. The clubhouses are very nice. David's grill seems like a great place to go get dinner. We stopped in there for some drinks afterwards the drinks were good and come with excellent, gratis views of the 18th hole. read more

Im middle of the road here. Course - excellent. 5 stars in Reno area. Practice Area - 2 stars. Would be 1 but far worse exist, I'll explain below. David's Grill - excellent Weddings - been to 1 here and it was nice. The practice area by the range. C'mon... $18 for large bucket, little more expensive compared to neighboring spots but not terribly off considering you are at a beautiful course. But your mats are garbage. Lumpy, torn up, hard to stand, grabs your club. Replace the mats and the range is excellent. Pin placement at practice green... 50/50, some are great, some are sideways on a hill mid- break, some have a built up "volcano" around the pin... but I digress... its a practice green. Chipping green is great, considering im not walking up to make the chipping putts I can't comment on the pins. All in all, fairly descent all around, but you can't charge $18 a bucket on those range mats. read more

Greedy ownership, mediocre golf -- skip it Red Hawk is a rip-off. Since Troon took over in 2020, the place has gone to hell. They have the audacity to charge $115-$160 a round in the morning for conditions that get smoked by Wolf Run and Lakeridge -- courses that play better and cost literally half the price. And now? They're bulldozing the Lakes course to slap houses on it. The same land homeowners paid a premium to live next to for the views and the golf. Families built their lives around this course and Troon is paving it over so a bunch of private-equity suits can cash out. No loyalty. No respect. No shame. This isn't a golf resort anymore -- it's a cash grab in a polo shirt. Take your money literally anywhere else. Wolf Run, Lakeridge, the muni down the street, your buddy's backyard with a wiffle ball. Worst course (Lakes) in No Nevada - You pay $100 and think you will be walking onto a nice course, in good shape, etc. But, not Redhawk - the fairways were dried out - the rough was in patches - the sand traps were dirt and rocks - the greens were running all different speeds and had been punched (deep plugs) with no warning to the players. And this is April, what will it be like in the summer????? Not worth $50, much less $100. I am a local and have played this course since the 90's and have never seen it in this bad of shape. Totally disappointing and saddened. Will not go back and waste my money, nor will the other players I was with. read more

I had good memories of playing this golf course several years ago for a fundraiser, so this week, when it came time to pick a course to play with friends, I picked Red Hawk. But, sometimes memories are less than accurate. I've played muni courses that were better designed and maintained. Car parking was quite distant, and you can't easily get to your cart to load/unload. The sand traps are hard or mushy, and some had puddles! It's not nicely landscaped. So, quite frankly, it wasn't worth the $600 it cost me to play nine holes. Afterward, we had lunch at David's Grill, and it wasn't bad. The french fries and french dip sandwiches were quite good. And, they made decent Arnold Palmers. read more

This place has gone down hill. From the food and service at David's Grill, to the horrible lifeguard and manager at the pool. For the amount of money we pay to swim and eat each summer, you would think the quality and service would be better. Also, what is the point in having life guards if they spend their time scrolling social media while on duty? Do better! read more

Played our annual Golf tournament on the hills course, the conditions were great, the greens were rolling beautifully and our cart girl Susan was amazing. 48 players and she was smiling, helpful, pretty and friendly. She was amazing, making her rounds, I think we saw her 4 times, which i think is a record! Thank you! read more

Man - Got a good deal on golf now. Given the normal price during peak times I was expecting an amazing course. Meh...course was in decent condition but the setup was annoying. 2 club houses, 2 places to get food and drinks, was redirected multiple times. Got there an hour and 15 minutes early but by the time i got a breakfast burrito, my cart and loaded things from my car l had less than 20 minutes to warm up. the lakes course was difficult and thats not the courses issue, thats mine. But at least one or two holes that aren't par 3s where you can actually see your ball land would be appreciated. most par 4s and 5s your driving into unseen territory. The food - absolute garbage, and ive had bad food in my life. this takes the cake. the "to go" snack shop at the turn advertises a bunch of ready to go items, but only half were ready to go. OK no biggie - get the chicken caesar wrap. It was mushy and terrible with wilted lettuce. Its as if they took an uncooked tortilla and stuffed it with last week's leftovers from Raleys. For a course of this "stature" I expected more. Wont be back unless its free and someone invites me. gag me on the experience here. Oh - and dont even get me started on the golf carts. no where near the green and they cut your speed to 1/2 mile an hour while yelling at you to get on the cart path. meanwhile players behind you wondering why the hell you're moving so slow on your golf cart. sorry - taking me 20 minutes to cross the fairway..... read more

If you're looking for an event venue, I highly recommend Red Hawk! Stephanie and her team were incredible in helping us host my father's celebration of life last weekend. Stephanie was compassionate, attentive, and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, taking much of the planning and organizing off our hands. They took care of everything seamlessly. The food was delicious, and the serving staff was warm and professional. Although it was a somber occasion, they made us feel genuinely comfortable and welcomed. I've also attended other events at Red Hawk--a wedding, birthday party, and retirement party--all of which were fantastic. The food was consistently great, and the staff was friendly and attentive every time. While I haven't experienced the golf course itself, the areas I saw were beautifully maintained and lush. Red Hawk is a wonderful choice for any event! I cannot thank Stephanie, Valeska and their team enough for everything they did. You guys are the best! read more

Did not go golfing but I did go to a gala that was hosted here and we had a good time! The views are beautiful and the event room is nice. The food was provided by red hawk and it was very tasty. Only had one bartender working for what seemed to be about 75 people. Not sure if this was up to the events organizer or if this was red hawks decision but it was not enough. The line was backed up all night. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I would have an event here if I had a need. read more

Red Hawk Golf and Resort designed by Robert Trent Jones has two amazing custom courses which makes golfing very challenging and extremely rewarding. Lakes Course - First day of tournament play. A lot of hazards as the name implies. Only 5 holes without water, which make your playing experience quite unique unlike other golf courses. Hills Course - Second day of tournament play. Breathtaking views with ton of rolling hills makes this course very challenging. They even have a par 5 holes (10th) which is 700 yards from tee to green. Good thing it plays downhill allowing your ball to roll, roll, roll... Lol. With a ton of trees, water hazards and more than 100 bunkers, these two courses will challenge most golfers, requiring you to bring your "A" game. Good luck and have fun in Reno! read more

The course is not your typical Troon Course - which are always groomed beautifully, however Red Hawk was not groomed at all. The course is at best a muni type course. Not sure why it is in such bad shape. They need to get a dog to clear out all the geese - as they are almost on every hole and goose shit everywhere and sometimes even on the green. It is hard to believe that Troon Management would let this course be so neglected. Maybe no one from Troon Management has checked on it in a while. Hopefully they get back out here and brink it back to Troon standards. Staff was very courteous, especially the outside service attendant when I dropped off the cart at the end of my round. read more

This course does a great job of catering to members, locals, and travelers alike. The resort style amenities are available but each is charged separately so that it is not terribly expensive if you just want golf. Having said that please check out the villas, David's, and the rest of the resort for when you have guest come from out of town that like to golf. The course itself is nice. We found it well maintained, great intermediate playable, and HOT. Please come prepared. There are no misting stations, there was only one water cooler we saw, no vending machines on the course, the cart only came once, and the clubhouse is far from the playing area. It was hot and because we are in the desert what little shade there is does not offer much relief. The service overall was great. The starter copped an attitude with us because the staff member in the club house granted us a normal request. The cart's GPS serves as a course marshal. It doesn't allow you to drive silly, go where you should not be, and keeps you going in the right direction. The sum it up this is a nice course for a reasonable price. We think it is among the most competitive the Reno/Tahoe area when you are looking for bang for your buck! read more

Played both the Lakes and the Hill courses. Was disappointed in the condition of both courses. For a resort, I expected the greens and fairways to be in better condition. The staff in the starters booth were less than friendly. Perhaps it was early in the season and this would account for the condition but I expected a better condition on both courses. read more

I have a 1 year old and was told I have to take her out of the baby pool every hour for 10 minutes no matter what. All kids under the age of 18 have to be out of every pool for 10 minutes every hour to "check in with parents, sunscreen, get water". The manager said "It's so parents don't have to be the bad guy". It's a pool at a golf course, not a kids day camp. I am her mother, I know what she needs and when. No one should be making me take my 1 year old out of the water that she just got used to, especially with their rates. I pay for that pool so that I can enjoy the pool with my daughter. Not so I can have a very rude lifeguard on her phone scream at me and my daughter to get out now. I genuinely didn't hear her announcement from the baby pool and had no idea what she was talking about. The lifeguard proceeded to yell at a child that was sitting on the side with his feet in, that his toes can't be in the water for 10 minutes. That doesn't make any sense if it's so kids can check in with parents. The boy was special needs and his grandfather said he was cold and just wanted his feet in the water and the lifeguard yelled "Not for 10 minutes!" Bizarre that the manager's reasoning for this absurd rule is to make the parents not be the bad guy when the lifeguard was clearly the bad guy. I won't be going back if they don't change this. Thanks for your response If the pool break was used to clean the pools that would be great since the baby pool was full of bugs and debris. However it was not. The lifeguard instead sat at the lifeguard post on her phone for the full 10 minutes after yelling at any child with a toe in the water. Kids should be able to sit with their feet in the water with their guardians. If the pools are not going to be cleaned during this required 10 minute break. Then it should be optional. You're not a summer camp or these children's parent's. Being in the water for 10 minutes and then taking a 1 year old out isn't a relaxing 10 minutes for anyone. Literally all of your reasons for the policy being in place didn't happen. If you're going to have a policy that is against children then you shouldn't have family swim time or memberships. read more

1 star for the golf course and the service. We had a tee time we had to push back and stayed on hold/hung up on/sent to voicemail for 40 minutes trying to reschedule our tee time. Then, the course itself is sub par. The golf carts though and the set up is genuinely the worst part. There's a sign on the golf club door saying to go to the pro shop next to the driving range....ok this is my first time here and the signage is extremely confusing. I walked around for ten minutes before I finally found an employee to ask where to go. This is the only golf course I've been to where you actually have to jump in a golf cart and then drive to the pro shop to check in. Very strange and confusing set up. Also, the golf carts are monitored throughout the golf course so they will randomly shut off and if it thinks you are too close to ANYTHING. You want to drive up to your tee box? Too bad. The cart will say to turn around and shut off its power. Want to get CLOSE, not on, the green? Too bad. The cart will shut off its power if you're within 150 yards of the green. Also, not cart attendants driving around so hopefully you purchase your drinks/snacks before you go out. Overall not a great experience. I wouldn't come back here for the price. There's many other courses with much better service and set up. read more

This was my first time playing red hawk and I had a great time. We played the lakes course. The condition of the the lakes course was decent, but the greens were just recently spiked which made it difficult to put. The scenery here was beautiful and our experience met our expectations! I can't wait to come back and play more as the corse gets better and better! Also I might add that David's grill, and the pro shop were both great places to visit before, after, or during the round of golf. read more

Our group of 13 players played the Lakes course this morning. Our carts had GPS and were tagged with our group name. Two bottles of water with ice provided in the cooler The other course is Hills. Bag drop by pro shop. Carts aren't allowed in the parking lot. The starter is inside a hut. That's where you pick up a basket of range balls. Later on you'll need to sign out for the golf cart. All of us enjoyed playing the Lakes course. The water hazards were easy to ignore. Especially if you're teeing off from the red tee box like myself. The fairways are wide open with maybe one or two exceptions. We all agreed it was a great course and would return to play it again. read more

Red Hawk is a great place to play golf. Both courses have character, but I'm in love with the Hills course. They keep the course in great shape. The sand is some of the best around. Fairways are smooth. The course has some long fescue grass that can make it a challenge if you get off the short grass. Try the blue white combo tees as a mid handicapper for a fun but challenging round. They offer a $129 Talon Club membership. It gives you discounts, a free round, and some other decent perks. read more

When inquiring about a monthly membership, after 10 years of off and on attendance, I would have to join for 5 months ( summer membership). This golf course is in such good condition and so well maintained in the off season. The carts are like driving around a Lazy Boy, so comfortable! Rates have gone up a bit since I've been golfing here but they have plenty of options to make it more affordable (ex. Talon Club and twilight rates). The staff is always very helpful, especially in the pro shop. Highly recommend playing the Hills Course during twilight in the summer! read more

The place is huge and in a great location, the bad thing is it does look a little bit unmaintained in certain areas, for example north west area was album water to the ground was spongy in the grass is not very green, I think it overwater it. Then the sand pits are not been well taken care of grass is overgrown around the edges of the pits. The cost to get into the course is really high. read more

Played in a golf tournament in August 2021 supporting the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza (https://www.nvmp.us/) on the Lakes Course. Love playing Red Hawk Golf Course and the both courses they have are always in excellent condition. If you have never been to Red Hawk Golf Course it is located in North Sparks, in Wingfield Springs, on the corner of N. Wingfield Parkway and Vista Boulevard. Prices if you just go out and play a round are reasonable compared to other courses in the Reno/Sparks areas. There are breathtaking views throughout the course when playing. The greens were are in excellent shape and the staff was super professional. Red Hawk also has an amazing restaurant called, David's Grill at Red Hawk Golf and Resort. They are open from 8 am to 9 pm so while playing your golf round, or if you get breakfast before or lunch/dinner after its a great choice! 5 STARS!!! read more

What an amazing group of people to work with! We had to postpone our original 2020 wedding date due to COVID and when we did Stephanie was more than accommodating, whatever we wanted to do she was more than happy to make it happen. She even offered to give our deposit back if we changed our minds about hosting a large event, we opted to reschedule for August 2021. As we approached our new wedding date Stephanie was in contact with us and was willing to answer any questions we had, no matter how big or small. Stephanie and her staff worked with us about menu selections, design layouts and linen selections. The week of the wedding we were in constant communication in regards to dropping off the wine and welcome boxes to be delivered to the Villas for our on-site guests. Along with the wedding coordination we also setup a golf tournament for the day before the wedding. The guys had a great time and the resort was very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better location to host our wedding! I highly recommend Red Hawk Golf & Resort to host your wedding or any event. The course itself is okay managed at best. But the fact that the service is horrible at least for the hills course. I made sure to ask before hand at the pro shop to see if the beverage cart is going to out ( which they assured me it will) there since the hills course does not lead back to the club house. But we never saw it once. We even called on hole 9 to ask to send one out which they also said they will and it never arrived! For a course that charges $125 a round in the fall and doesn't allow outside food or drinks I was very disappointed! read more

Attended a nonprofit luncheon here during the holidays. The room area is large enough to accommodate 200 people, maybe more, and comfortably. As an added bonus, there is a side hallway with plenty of space to set up sales tables and raffles. There was even room on the patio if we had chosen to use that area as well. The luncheon salad was fresh and tasty. Parking is easy in the huge parking lot and there's even a drop off area for those in your party needing assistance or not wishing to walk in from a parking space. All in all, this is a lovely venue to hold an event. read more

We were treated to perfectly cooked steak and chicken, in a delicious sauce, during a wedding reception dinner held at Red Hawk . The dressing on the salad was tart and tasty and portions were generous. While eating this delicious food we could not help but notice the five star service. They have a veteran banquet staff that made the whole dinner a raving success. Food comes out quickly and everyone is served, empty plates are quietly removed and the whole dinner was executed expertly. read more

An absolute joke that they are charging $80 for a round of golf, oh and no access to the range even though you're paying $80, while not even being the nicest course in Northern Nevada - not even in Reno/Sparks. Will be taking my money elsewhere since almost every other course is between $40-60 for a round and the ranges are open. Super disappointing considering the current state of things in our economy. Events Center experience is an absolute NIGHTMARE! Booked and reserved the main event center a year ahead with a downpayment paid. We were informed 2 weeks prior, that our event was moved to another smaller place with no enclosures (talon's lawn). It was end of November and it was very chilly but we where assured that the place will be cozy and warm. Long and behold, ALL my guests (some out of state) were cold, 2 of my senior guests got sick. What should have been a very joyous event turned out to be an absolute nightmare with me endlessly apologizing to my guests for what had happened. It was a total disaster and a big embarrassment. A momentous event indeed...IN A BAD WAY! Unfortunately, that was the first and last time we hold any of our events in this place. read more

6/11 2:00 tee time Course in great shape, they had tourney on hills course in Am-nobody fixes ball marks anymore I must of fixed 6-8 ball marks every green Shot a 83 from the blacks It was about 93 out, no water on course and the drink cart meet us on the 1st tee to see if we needed anything before she went to the lakes course because they had tourney on that side-I guess tournaments need three drink carts-suggestion-put water jugs on the course- every other course does!!!!!! We've been playing here for about 15 or 16 years as part of our annual tournament - which just reached it's 21st year. After a bad experience last year, we were going took Red Hawk out of our rotation. However, they contacted us and told us they would do better - not mix us in with larger tournament, allow us to get out before the other shotgun starts, etc., etc. So we decided to come back this year. Big mistake. Our smaller group was mixed in with another tournament. Slow, slow, slow play. On one of the par 3's, one group on the green, one group on the tee box and 3 - yup 3!!!! - groups waiting behind the tee box. 5 groups on one hole. No marshalls to speed up play even though we called the pro shop from the course to report the situation. After 11 holes and 3 1/2 hours later, most of our groups gave up and left the course. No tournament is worth that much aggravation and frustration. Seems like the tactic was to promise us anything to get us back this year but not to follow through if it was more convenient for the course. Obviously no more Red Hawk regardless of their promises. Red Hawk is a great course but broken promises have soured our enjoyment. We won't be bringing our group back here. read more

The reviews here are a little harsh if you think this is a 3 star course. Its in good shape, has some interesting holes and a nice bar/pub to boot. Last time here we played the Hills course and I don't think they have the slope correct at all. Its harder than they project it to be. Its not particularly long but the fairways are tight in some places and if you do get into trouble, you will have big issues getting out of it. You need to be accurate and plan out your holes. You definitely don't need a driver everywhere. The other thing that is very difficult about this course are the greens. They are very fast with a lot of breaks, you need to be near the flag to have a chance. We played the blue/white, which was supposed to be a 114 slope. Add at least 10 points to that, it plays in the 120s for sure. Even how they handcap the holes seems off. There was a 240 yard par 3, #11 that they have rated as the 16 handicap. Its one of the top five hardest holes on the course because its not easy to get to the green and two putt. I enjoyed it and have played the Lakes in the past. I think I like the Lakes better but both are enjoyable golf courses. Just know what you are getting into, its not easy by any means. read more
