I called Nancy at Brannon Stables and she was amazing. She took some time to understand what I was looking for before I made the drive to try out my first lesson. I arrived and and it was a great fit. She was patient, easy going and very good about correcting me (and understanding this was my first time on a horse). I started 4 weeks ago (from 0 experience) and today I can put the (english or western saddle on), start, trot, canter, turn (and most importantly stop). I highly recommend her.

They all seemed to know each other but not have too many issues between them- no biting, kicking, etc. (Hey - racehorses are so temperamental that they need a calming animal). The barn has its own helmets to lend, there were a lot of people who had been more than once. I was searching for a hot tub the following day however.

Love that Kentucky Horse Park is pet friendly. The only area that pets are not allowed to go in is…read morethe museum but all other areas were fine. This is a beautiful area of Kentucky. I met a lovely man named Dave in the champion horse barn. He was fantastic, and took the time to tell me a bit of horse history. He even brought one of the retired champions up to the stall door so that my dog could get familiar with horses. Meeting Dave made my entire trip that even more memorable. We got to stop and watch some of the horse events going on. I loved watching the horses competing in the jump course. This is a large park and there is a lot to take your time and see. They have a nice gift shop. There is a food hall too but I didn't try it during this trip. It is $28 to get in, but is worth it and you can get in the next day for free. I am glad I had the opportunity to stop and see the park.
