During our visit to this beautiful bluegrass state, my Missy surprised me with a trip to Deer Run Stables for us to ride horses. We took a short drive from Lexington entering beautiful Madison County. This was my first trip to Kentucky. Growing up my father and I would watch the Kentucky Derby every May. I learned years ago how important horses were to this State, as many say the blue grass which grows from the ground is extremely rich in calcium from the limestone. Thus creating the best horses in the world. Needless to say I was excited to be in Kentucky and enjoying the Deer Run Stables, that is in excess of 300 acres. I highly recommend the drive out to D.R.S and taking a peaceful horse ride. My horse was Gypsy and she was awesome to ride. Britney was our guide and very informative, an unknown named cowboy also escorted us taking photos for the ladies in the tour trying to get them that epic horse riding photograph.

Great experience! We booked a trail ride for a Tuesday afternoon. They got us all set up with our horses and some basic instructions how to handle them. The trail was relatively easy and relaxing but also so much fun. Isabella and Brittney were great trail guides! Would recommend to both beginner and experienced riders.

Everyone there is so nice and knowledgeable! My friend and I had such a blast. The horses are well trained and the trail was gorgeous! Truly a great experience for those who have never ridden a horse before.

Fantastic last minute booking they got us in for. My husband and I were on a quick two night trip to Kentucky to do a little distillery tour, but they are closed for Covid. Driving through all the greenery horse pastures hubby made a comment he wishes he could ride a horse; next thing I did was a quick secret search for horse riding, and DRS came up. I called pretty late at 7:45 at night as we only had two more days, the answering machine said to text the number for guided tours and I did, apologizing for it being so late. The next morning I got a text back while at breakfast that they were able to get us in at 1:00 pm that day. I surprised hubby, we went to hotel changed and headed out on a short drive from Lexington. Entering the grounds i couldn't wait to go on a ride, I haven't been horseback riding since 2012 in the Bahamas. And while this wasn't quite like that experience, it was perfect for what we wanted. It was informal and casual as the ladies brought us right in and gave us the names of our horses. We had 3 other ladies with our small group of 5, plus our guide Britney (spelling?) and her helper I didn't catch his name. Britney's mom helped us to our horses, I had Sun a 17 year old male horse that was gentle and easy. I am truly a beginning rider and the instructions were simple and clear, and Britney reminded us along our trails of things like "lean back going down this hill" etc. They have 100 acres of land and an adjacent 300 for the horses. The scenery was so beautiful and the trails were shaded for the most part which was a nice reprieve from the middle of the day hot sun. The other worker alongside Britney took pictures of us as we rode by so that was a cool bonus. We truly had a great time, about an hour was spent at Deer Run which fit nicely into our schedule. When we find ourselves back in Kentucky DRS will be the first place we contact!

Horse lovers dream Saturday Morning! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Jona and her sweet family are wonderfu! Their hospitality, and equine knowledge provide a welcoming, comfortable, environment to enjoy a lovely trail ride in the heart of horse country. Take the trip to Deer Run and enjoy!

My family and I booked an evening reservation for trail rides. We had a fantastic time!! The staff was friendly and patient. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The horses were friendly and sweet. The landscape on the trail was breathtaking as the sun began to set. I would definitely recommend visiting Deer Run Stable!! We will be back!!

The barns, grounds, and horses are all very well taken care of. They truly care for their clients and the horses. I started training here in April and have learned more in the short time I have been here than I have in all of my previous lessons at other riding centers. Dominika has such a positive and encouraging method of teaching. She is very patient and knowledgeable about all aspects of horsemanship. I really like that I am challenged to exceed my own expectations each lesson but never pushed beyond my own comfort level. The lesson horses are fit, well trained, and matched well to each riders level. I can't explain how happy I am to have found such an amazing farm. I highly recommend Clover Hill Farm.

We will be returning in the near future for the general farm tour but if you are a racing fan I recommend you get tickets immediately - Chrome will be going to Chile soon and dates are limited - I cannot emphasize what a great opportunity this tour presents. If you miss it this season put it in your calendar for next year. We got to see California Chrome up close and personal! We got a visit from our friend Liam who works with these fabulous stallions every day! The tour was presented at a very leisurely pace. We were truly able to enjoy our time at Taylor Made Farm. Our tour guide Carly was fabulous! She answered questions and gave a very interesting overview of one of thoroughbred racing's megastars. We toured the breeding shed and the stallion barns. We each got individual photos taken in California Chrome's stall after feeding him one of his favorite cookies! Horse girl heaven let me tell you! We then took a scenic drive over the farm to one of the barns where Chrome's and other sire's babies are housed. The "California Chrome Experience" is a very interactive experience. Lots of opportunities for photos and petting the horses. After the tour we had a meal at Daddy Joe's Bar & Grill which was included with our tickets. Great job Taylor Made Farm for putting together a tour designed with horse lovers in mind. I would truly spend the money to go on the "California Chrome Experience" again. It was that enjoyable!!!
