They have a good selection of rides though the lines were long on Friday night and I would expect they would be even worse over the weekend. Parking is $10 at the Wake Forest Coliseum (a short walk), which is safer than parking in someone's yard (for the same price). It's $10 per person to enter, if you order online, and then you'll spend $20 every 4 rides (roughly). It can add up quickly, but so can the level of enjoyment.

Right near by, we came across the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, another spot we've never explored. Parking was easy, they've got a decent size parking lot. Being a sunny, and hot Sunday morning, the tree coverage over the walk ways through the garden provide a ton of shade, which made for a very pleasant exploration. The whole garden is so nicely maintained, with probably a couple of miles worth of paved paths. There are plenty of sculptures to discover, and lots of benches to take a sit, and just enjoy being outside and the well manicured gardens. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get out of the house and do a little urban exploring. It's even good for older people, as the paths are paved, with minimal hills.

We went to the festival on Saturday evening and it was a great experience. We were able to find…read moreparking a block away so that was convenient. To purchase food from the booths you had to purchase tickets. One ticket was the equivalent of $1. Wrist bands for beer were also $1. There were tons of options for food. BBQ, sandwiches, sausage, wings, spring rolls, tacos, desserts, ice cream, the list goes on. I really liked the variety. It allowed everyone to get something to their liking. We wanted to try a couple different things so my boyfriend and I grabbed a couple different items to share. We got a hickory smoked slider and mac and cheese from Camel City BBQ, spring rolls and wings from Milner's, and a wrap from Bib's. Everything was really good! We brought chairs and a blanket to sit down and were able to find a nice place in the shade to sit down. We stayed long enough to enjoy Bob Margolin's hour long set and have our dinner. There were a lot of people there but it wasn't so overly crowded that you couldn't move through the crowded smoothly and the wait for the food booths wasn't very long at all. The Greek festival took place at the Greek church in Winston they had a variety of foods and activities all throughout the area! I got the Greek pizza, Loukoumades, spanikopita and potato wedges! The place was pretty packed as today was opening day. Parking is all the way down right by the church just follow the signs. I will say I got lucky with mine and there's a couple parking spots before you really start getting towards the church. Under the tent area is where you can find the entrees, and in the gymnasium area it's the lunch specials and Greek pastries and some dessert options too.

The lines for food appeared long but moved quickly. Gyros were superior to those served at the Greensboro Greek Fest. The market had so many gorgeous products and fantastic foods, including a buffet of flavored olives oils. I am deaf and the speaker volume was too intense even for me, but I'm sure they were trying to compensate for crowd noise. It was a miserable hit and humid day but the cold Greek beers and baklava ice cream kept us going to enjoy the festivities.

We had the opportunity to attend the Yadkin Valley Grape Festival today…read more We really did not know what to expect but were overall very impressed. This is an event put on by the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce. Today was the 19th Annual Yadkin Valley Grape Festival. It is held the third Saturday of October and this year happened to be October 21, 2023. The event is located in Downtown Yadkinville at 205 S Jackson Street from 11am to 5pm. Admission is FREE to the event but wine tasting tickets are $20 before the event, $25 at the event. The tickets provide a wine glass and as far as we could tell, unlimited tastings at any of the 15 or so wineries in attendance. In addition to the wineries, there were also multiple food trucks, live music and other vendors. My wife and I walked around checking everything out, listened to live music and tried a few different wines at several booths. We were most impressed with the Carolina Heritage Vineyards and Winery which is the first USDA-Certified Organic vineyard and winery in North Carolina. My wife has often gotten headaches from drinking wine. The gentleman at this booth said he absolutely guaranteed she would not get a headache based on the organic nature of his process. We also appreciate they are a veteran-owned, family-owned business. We were very surprised with their Apple Pie wine which is a sweet, spiced wine made from fermented North Carolina apples, mulled with almonds, cinnamon and raisins making it smell and taste just like apple pie. THIS WAS AMAZING! We ended up buying two bottles of the Apple Pie wine for ourselves and a bottle of the Trailside Red for our friends. We are excited to go home and enjoy our bottles and also plan a visit to their winery in Elkin. We also spent some time at the booth for Green Mesa Blueberry Farm. They are not a winery but they have several very good items made with blueberries like salad dressing, jelly, jam and salsa. We first found out about Green Mesa two years ago on the 4th of July when we followed a sign from Booneville advertising Blueberry milkshakes. They had a stand on the roadside by the blueberry farm and were making blueberry milkshakes, delicious. My wife purchased two bottles of the salad dressing today and we spoke to her about planning a visit in the summer. A big thank you to the sponsors and organizers of this event. Well done!
