The staff was friendly and once we checked in, we started exploring the animals. I got to pet so many exotic animals like kangaroos and alpacas. I really enjoyed petting the camel and cow. We did not pay extra to feed and play with the capybara's but I may do that in the future. Bring bug spray since you were in a wooded area with animals.

It's confusing at first because you pass a small parking lot, which is actually the parking lot for the capybara area. Keep driving and you arrive at the main entrance. We followed signs for admission expecting it to be in a building or something but it ended up being two people sitting at a table. We got two regular admissions, and they didn't give us a sticker or wristband or anything. I guess you do get a wristband if you pay extra for the capybara experience. Kind of odd since anyone can just walk around and they wouldn't know. We took a photo of their map and checked out all the areas. The animals are cool, and some are wandering around in open areas, even though they aren't really approachable. There was a food truck selling hot dogs, and the place also sells feed cups and gem mining kits (nobody was doing that on the day we visited). It's also cool that this place is an equine sanctuary. There are some shady areas but a lot of it is out in the open, so bring hats and sunscreen. We did see lots of exotic animals and enjoyed the experience overall.

They only have port-a-jons which is extremely challenging with small kids and a lot of their food was pre-packaged, which they just warm up. Anyways, I guess I got spoiled with high expectations after visiting Alpha and Omega Cron Maze which has some legit food! Honestly I'd go back there just to eat. Wear play/work clothes and be ready to get farm messy. You walk through the building into a little slice of heaven for kids & adults whoever dreamed of having a farm. You have goats, chickens, Quail, bunnies and two awesome farm dogs - well one farm dog & one in training- LOL. We ended up exploring for hours, looking at the animals, picking fresh vegetables from the garden (highly encouraged) by Ivy (Owner), walking in the woods. Best of all following our little one from the sandbox to the swing-sets, to the playground in the woods. Speaking with the Farm Ladies, learned some of the back story and the journey to fulfill the dream. What a cool vision & so much hard work . this animal park is absolutely a terrible for animals. the spider monkey is like a tall corn cage…read more little to no enrichment for these primates. they could easily plant a tree or bushes in the enclosure giving them enrichment similar to their native environment. the tortoise was worse. it is about 3-4ft in length. the enclosure is so small the tortoise can not move more than a foot. there is not adequate sun protection in its enclosure.there is no enrichment items available.

Darby Safari went so above and beyond our expectations. We love zoos, but this was so much more…read morethan just staring at a bunch of animals behind bars - instead we had multiple opportunities to get up close, touch and feed the animals. In addition, some free range friends walked along with us humans on the tour and literally wanted to eat out of our hands. Our guides, Maddie and Shane, were fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the animals, and excellent at making sure everyone in the fairly sizable tour group had an opportunity to see or feed each animal they introduced. We bought the "Kit and Kaboodle" package which was so incredibly worth it! Some zoos allow you a "personal encounter" with one species, or by holding up an animal and letting you pet it,... but in the encounter room, Maddie and Shane spent an hour or more introducing us to at least 10 animals, all different species, in very interactive ways. We held armadillos, hand wrestled a mongoose, let a tiny monkey jump from shoulder to shoulder between us eating Fruit Loops, fed and high-fived otters, and so much more. I truly can't say enough about how happy we are that we included Darby Safari in our first ever trip to Charlotte!

They were a little heartbroken because they were unable to visit the zoo or the butterfly exhibit, but it was because there was a storm going on outside. They saw so many animals... we're able to pet some animals saw a movie, played and made new friends! It was challenging but not too hard. My son loved the apple cannon. The wagon ride is fun but be prepared to wait since it is a small wagon and very popular. What a family-friendly farm to spend some time enjoying the Fall weather. Everywhere we looked, there was something for the kids to play with. Giant slides, giant sandbox, giant CORN box, teepee, pumpkin theme tic-tac-toe, photo opp stations, pumpkin cannons and more! The best part was fitting in our yearly pumpkin patch tradition here, all made easy with provided wagons and apple pay! Did I mention that admission is free? Great way to pass the time with kiddos!
