My friend Cathy gave me a gift certificate for 10 sessions at No Tan Lines - Red Light Therapy about 2 years ago. Needless to say............I didn't do Jack $hit with the gift certificate, so when my friend Cathy had asked me if I had gone to Red Light Therapy, & used the gift certificate that she gave me...........I felt bad, and told her I had not done anything with it. Fast forward 2 years later...........I finally decided to give this place a try! No Tan Lines is located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center, just next door from the Chinese restaurant - Harbor Village Cuisine. What is Red Light Therapy? Developed by NASA, the red light is suppose to help stimulate collagen to help you rejuvenate & improve your skin. It also suppose to help tighten & remove wrinkles, as well as lighten dark spots. If you have any pain, or muscle aches, the therapy is also suppose to help with that, as well as boosting your immune system. I wasn't skeptical about trying this Red Light Therapy thing, as a few of my lady friends go to this place and suggested I give it a try to remove some scars on my body, as well as boosting my immune system. I don't have any issues with my immune system, as I rarely catch cold, or get the flu, but as a dude, I got some scars..........never really thought about it too much, as I thought chicks dig scars on dudes???? Basically you go into a room, strip buck necked, then lay in that "tanning looking booth" for 20 minutes. Now don't worry dudes............when you go buck necked, the booth won't burn your pee-pee, nor will it give you a tan, or sun burn! (Yeah, I had to ask!) As you lay in that booth, Red Light Therapy gives you this "eye thing" that looks like some kinda swimmer's goggles that you put over your eyes (to protect your eyes) while you lay in that booth for 20 minutes. All you will hear is some air noises, and you will feel air from a fan that blows air by your feet. The fan was suppose to cool you down a bit, as when you lay in that booth..........it suppose to get pretty hot in that booth (over a period of time) when you lay there. As for me..........I did the 20 minutes, no problem....... I must say it was a wee bit hot in the booth, but not overbearing......... in fact, I didn't even break a sweat at all when I finished the session. I initially bought a Groupon for No Tan Lines for 12 sessions for $149. I have combination skin on my face, and I'm always looking for different things to try when it comes to my skin. They've had their deal on Groupon for a while now they have cheaper ones $69 for 4 sessions, $119 for 8 sessions, and $149 for 12 sessions. I have my own dermatologist that I go to regularly, but I did my research on red light therapy and I couldn't pass it up. I caved and finally decided to buy the 12 sessions, I bought the most sessions to make the best of my money. The benefits of red light therapy are crazy, if you don't know Google. I'm only on my fourth session, but I love it. After my sessions I definitely feel a difference in my skin, it's so smooth. I need to go more actually because they suggest for the full benefits to go three sessions consecutively. I don't have the time so I just set up my sessions every week. This review is for the Red Light Therapy (vs Tanning). A couple of my girlfriends, who also happen to be Yelpers, suggested that I try this. In fact, one in particular kept bugging me. I was like "Yeah, yeah, hocus pocus, blah blah, there's no way this will work". But then I thought, "Why not? What have I got to lose?". They said it would make my skin look and feel younger, get rid of aches and pains, boost your immune system, etc. etc. Well, I figured, since the first session is free, what the heck! I went to Hawaii Kai's location, took one look at that red light bed, and started to feel a little anxious. I'm claustrophobic, and it looked like a coffin to me. OMG, can I really do this??? Well Alysin explained in great detail how my 20 minutes would be in the "coffin", I mean "bed!!" I was freaked for the first 5 minutes, then I was fine. By the end of the 20 minutes, I was hooked. I came out and thought "darn it, I think I like this"...I was secretly hoping I wouldn't. I decided to buy a small package of treatments to see what it would do for me. Well, it's now a couple of years later, and I'm a regular. My daughters love it as well. Anytime they have an acne break out, or some kind of skin ailment, we head their way! We drive all the way from town to either of their locations (Kailua or Hawaii Kai) for the amazing benefits this gives us. Me: Biggest and most noticeable improvement, my skin! Super soft, moist and smooth as silk! Fine lines and wrinkles fade away! I swear, this works WAAAAAAY better than any kind of expensive skin care creams., and believe me, I've tried them all. Red Light and Beyond has been in business in Hawaii Kai for 3 years. I started going there 2 years ago because I had a lot of back pain, the treatments eased my back pain almost immediately. I broke my arm November of 2019, and went in for red light treatments and was able to heal 2 weeks faster than an ordinary broken arm would take to heal. I love these hard working girls. I normally go to Hawaii Kai but also drive out to Kailua with a friend of mine. This 20 minute is very calming, in which I almost always fall asleep. I'm extremely claustrophobic but don't feel that way at all because the fan blows air. I don't use the goggles and my eyes are used to the red light with my eyes closed. I just want all areas around my face to be exposed to the Redlight. I have found that since doing red light (around 2.5 years) my skin doesn't seem to crave body lotion. Even though it may look dry, I used to put on lotion regularly but now I think my skin is hydrated. Initially, I used to go at least 3x a week in the beginning but now I try to go at least 1x a week if I can. I like red light because it helps to heal wounds, bruises go away faster, if you have a sore neck the pain is minimized. It's therapeutic and if you buy in bulk than your cost goes down. Come here if you want your skin to be healthy looking, your muscles or body aches to subside. To feel overall relaxed and the list goes on and on. Read their brochure. I'm extremely self-conscious and hate showing my legs at the beach, however...I hate being paler than Casper. I'm going home for my brothers wedding and, after 2.5 years on the island, I didn't want to go back home still being the palest person in MD. So, I looked to Yelp to find a tanning bed that had really good reviews especially when it came to owners/staff. This place was great! The staff was super friendly (Lyssa and Cody), the place was very clean, the prices weren't bad and there was plenty of parking in the the shopping center that it's located in. Will hopefully be going back this week before I leave and, when I come back from the mainland, I definitely want to try the red light therapy at some point. I have Pompholyx Eczema (primarily on my hands and feet) and Psoriasis (primarily on my scalp but sometimes affects my eyelids, elbows and knees). I read that the red light therapy works really well and if I have another breakout I would like to try it because I'd love to find a better alternative to stopping my breakouts than the steroid creams I use. read more

I've only gone through two sessions & I've already started to notice a difference in my skin! I have hormonal acne and as of late I've actually discovered that products with benzoyl peroxide work wonders for my skin/acne because benzoyl kills the bacteria that acne causes (just like Red Light Therapy). I use a Clean & Clear cleanser along with Clean and Clear persagel 10% benzoyl peroxide and in just a week I had a noticeable difference. Of course, I use a deep hydrating gel along with it as it will sincerely dry your skin out. I stumbled upon No Tan Lines a few weeks ago and figured I'd give it a try due to all the other benefits along with helping acne because although my skin has cleared up tremendously I still have deep acne scars and my skin is pretty dry. I've already noticed my face smoothing out and a few scars have already faded! My husband actually thought I was wearing makeup after my session, but I haven't worn any in the last two days! (And I used to never, ever, ever leave the house without at least a light powder on) Although I've only been too two sessions, I'm giving this a 5 star review because not only have I noticed a difference but the owners are absolutely wonderful, genuinely kind, and extremely knowledgeable! They take great care of the shop, keep it extremely clean & it smells wonderful inside. They also give you a complimentary water after each session and have products like lotion, make-up remover, etc, in each room for you to use. And as for the actual tanning sessions, I absolutely love the fact that they recommend which one to use based on your skin type. Lyssa and Alysin are very knowledgeable in how red light therapy can benefit you. Lyssa has done a ton of research and can answer any question you have. It's safe, effective and it's helping me! I have nerve pain from a surgery gown awry and one of the benefits of red light is nerve/numbness relief, pain relief, inflammation relieve and a slew of other benefits. I wanted to do my review after my third session. I did 2 days in a row, but I couldn't complete the 3rd day. However I made it up that same week. They recommend the initial start up you do 3 days in a row. The first appointment is free, which is awesome!! I met Alysin at my first appointment and Lyssa on my third visit, they are super nice and welcoming. They don't push a sale or pressure you into buying sessions, they simple tell you all about red light therapy and let you see for yourself with the complimentary first session for new clients. I had the pleasure of going to both stores, there's one in kailua. Both stores are well maintained, clean and just a relaxing environment to be in. They have basic necessities in each room for before and after your session. You get eye protectors and a clean towel to use if needed during ur session and they also have water for you after your session. After my first session, my skin felt a little smoother and my back pain was at a minimum, but the most noticeable thing was my neck fat, lol....it shrank!! It felt tighter and less fatter. No Joke!! After my second session I noticed my stretch marks were a little smoother. It's also recommended to drink lots of water after, and you will feel a little dehydrated after your done. I've only done 3 sessions so far, but I'm absolutely convinced this product/service works and I'm definitely going to continue with more sessions. I recommend you try it at least once. One of the best things about No Tan Lines are the prices. 1 session is about $10. They also have packages which I think are better to purchase than individual sessions. I came here to see if RLT can help with acne scars. According to them it does so much more. It's a tanning bed that emits red lights. These red lights can help with pain, scars, aging and many many more things. It doesn't hurt at all. It's relaxing but kinda bright even with the tanning goggles on, but it doesn't hurt my eyes. Each session is 20 minutes long and they suggest you come at least 3 times a week. They let me try it free the first time and then I purchased a pack of 40 after. I think I've been going to No Tan Lines for almost a year now... I found a deal on groupon (I believe) for red light therapy and have bought more sessions since. It sounded really intriguing and I'm very much into health and holistic healing so it's right up my alley. Usually Allison (one of the owners) is there and she's super friendly and funny but both Allison and Lisa (the other owner) are really nice and knowledgeable.
