I found Hale Beauty through Groupon. Lilien is the owner of this establishment in which she runs and operates solely from what I could gather from my experience. It is across the way of Fresh Catch on the same side as St. Louis High. It is clean and she has customer parking in her yard. I believe it's in an attachment area of her home. There's no ac, but she has fans that suffice. She has a water machine for her clients. Downsides of my experience: 1. Professionalism is lacking and needs to work on her phone etiquette in answering and not answering when she is with a client. Throughout my treatment she answered about 3 phone calls for scheduling and stopped 3 times during my treatments. 2. She tried to charge me $150 for the upper arm sculpture and fat reduction on both arms and wouldn't honor the Groupon even though I had mentioned before starting the treatments that I was fine with ONLY doing the under chin/double chin because she had stated that she only allowed one treatment per Groupon. 3. I'm not sure if we had a language barrier, but we had a misunderstanding of communication for the services which ended in her being extremely unprofessional towards me in stating I was cheap and commenting on my weight. I like to think of myself as a reputable womxn, but this has got to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I'm not only Yelp elite, but I'm a RealSelf.com ambassador/insider. I go to MANY businesses and try many different things out and people honor my reviews because they are truthful. The experience: I browse Groupon once in a while and when I see something interesting I decide to try it. HIFU from the reviews here on Yelp and on the Groupon site seemed like something worth purchasing. I don't use Groupon often, but I'm aware of the fine print and it states, "limit 1 per person." Which I assumed was one procedure per person hence when scheduling the appointment I made sure to put that it was a Groupon for both procedures in the notes. I purchased the under chin/double chin HIFU treatment ($99) as well as the upper arm sculpture and fat reduction on both arms ($179). I scheduled the appointments on time. I purchased the Groupon in July and scheduled it for ending of August. I received no follow up or reminder emails nor calls the days coming up to my appointment. I called the day before to make sure that my appointment was still on her calendar as well as to know if there was anything else I needed to know coming into the appointment because i had never done the HIFU treatment before. I had blocked off 3 hours of her time from her schedule and I didn't want to waste her time because time is money and I like to be respectful. She answered non chalantly and told me that all I have to do was come to the appointment. Great I thought no hidden things I have to worry about and no hidden fees etc. I get to the place, she greats me, I sign the paper work, take a few before pictures, and she proceeds to tell me that I cannot do the two procedures that I purchased on Groupon that I can only choose one. I agreed and I told her that I would be fine with only doing the upper chin/double chin area that day. She preps the station I lay down and then she starts putting the numbing ointment on my face and she tells me it will take 30 minutes to set in then she starts putting the lubricant on my arms and I'm thinking okay she's honoring the second groupon I bought then and she's going to do my arms. Throughout the whole time we're fine we're talking stories and she keeps getting clients calling from Groupon to schedule appointments which I was like okay whatever, but to me that's weird business etiquette to be answering the phone like that when you're with customers. Anyways, she does my chin and then we're finished with the treatments. I had also scheduled online to do Chinese Cupping so I had asked her before we do the cupping if I could pay for that. She takes out her iPad to ring me up and then she says it will be $150. I'm like it says online that the Chinese Cupping was $35 and she tells me no the $150 is for the upper arm sculpture and fat reduction on both arms which I was dumb founded because I was like I didn't agree to pay that price today. Basically, I feel like she tried to take advantage of me and did a treatment unbeknownst to my agreement that she would charge me $150. I refused to pay for the full amount of the service and thats where things took a turn where she belitted me calling me cheap basically and that in all her years she's never experienced this sort of thing. I told her I'd pay her when I get a refund from Groupon as she did not want to honor it. Sad to say I will not be returning to this establishment as I was excited to try this HIFU treatment a few more times as well as some other services from her. I purchased a HIFU treatment on Groupon, and had read the reviews, but wanted to start out with a small area (around the eye area) to see the results, before committing to a larger area, such as the full face or forehead. I really didn't know what to expect, but what I didn't expect is that it would bring me to tears. Tears of joy. I kid you not, when she gave me the mirror after the treatment, I looked like a different person. No more obvious crows feet and tired look around my eyes, and my skin looked brighter, and more taute, and not as crepey under and around the eyes. Lilien is very knowledgable with skin care and truly cares about her patients. For many years, I've had very oily skin. At my more recent skin care treatments at other places, no comments were made so I thought that my skin had mellowed down in oil and normal. Even though I just bought the HIFU treatment for the eyes (which was great. Results were immediate, and shown in her before and after photo's), she had noticed and pointed out my very dry skin. Maybe it was from my long flight I had just came from and the week-long abuse of sun and ocean water everyday, or maybe this is my new aging skin, but either way, she gave me advice on what to do and use (not just her own products) and what not to for improvement and preservation. She also gave me a moisturizing facial mask and more moisturizers. She said that when she sees problem skin that she can help, she can't just ignore it. She also has a good variety of masks. My first HYDRO DERMA from this place, I saw the deal thru groupon and contacted them to make an appt. for free consultation, but lord, wasn't she the sweetest aesthetician I have come across, she customized some really good deals and added couple unique face packs once the session was over. The lady who worked on my face was Lily, soft spoken yet very knowledgeable, she certainly seems queer when you first meet her, but don't get her wrong, she starts studying your face the moment you walk in the door and recommends types of treatment on your skin type. Went to see Lilien for acupuncture treatment for a wrist injury and again later for sciatica pain on left side, which kept me for months from getting a good night's rest. After one session and some pain the first night, I started to feel much better the next day. Though there was some lingering pain which came back occasionally, within two weeks, all the pain went away and I'm able to sleep almost thru the night. I've heard from others who had the same problem who have received numerous treatments but the sciatica remained. Her philosophy is to try curing everything one time and not treat one area just to make you come again. She also does UL Therapy, which I may try another time.
