Figuring out this place was a mystery though - where do you go to order? where is the menu? is there a line I should be in? I'm sure the locals got a chuckle from me going in circles in this place. In a perfect world, 90% + 10% = 100%, right? Red Mountain Coffee has a potential for 100% of my loyalty and appreciation. It's clean. That gets 50%, right there. The taste of the pizza and Italian soda? Another 40%. Why less for the food? Because if a food business isn't clean, I won't stay to try the food. So, there's 90%. But we're missing the 10%. And that's the service. Today's was abysmal. I was there around 1:30. Only myself and one other customer. Clue #1. Two staff people behind the counter. Neither wearing masks. The customer ahead of me gone, I ordered my two slices of pizza and the soda. The pies were whole. Clue #2. Really cranky attitude of the person behind the counter. Slamming stuff around, not making eye contact with me once, acting impatient with me throughout. Pizza, drink and a cookie on the counter, pushed in my direction. Never once a 'thank you'. I paid for the privilege of being invisible. And tipped 15% (clearly because I'm stupid). So, why was the parking lot in front full of vehicles, but only two customers inside? I'll tell you why. Because we are the last two people on the planet who realized the cleanliness and food, even though a combined 90% of a potential perfect score, can be undone by a -90% of lousy service. I should've been more aware before even walking in today: the little drive-through coffee stand in the parking lot had a line of people waiting. Red Mountain was empty. The restaurant a cross the street was filled to capacity. Geez. $20 spent, and I could've had better value if I'd only walked a few more paces to either of those options. Sorry (not really sorry), Red Mountain. I'll come back to the summit, but not back to your otherwise charming self. Not until you've replaced those two rude robots with any of the 20,000,000 Americans currently out of work who could do a much better job for you and your customers. read more

Red mountain coffee has a great niche here at the summit of snoqualmie pass, washington state's busiest mountain crossing. They serve pizza, and even beer by the bottle. A great alternative to eating at the ski area concessions, the owner is often seen helping customers and tidying up. The coffee is good, the staff is friendly. Even at $4 a slice the pizza is worth it. "Locals discount" to residents of snoqualmie pass. Once a convenience store and state funded bathroom stop (timewise grocery, traveler's rest) this is one of the oldest buildings on the pass. The A-frame type chalet was beautifully restored (remodeled?) By the owner's husband a few years ago, with high-end trim carpentry throughout, including fir wrap around the exposed overhead beams. The location along the I-90 corridor means people (backsore truck drivers, students from WSU, whole soccer teams from Yakima) stop here for a break. Mix these types up with snowboarders (me), avalanche control workers, and the occasional frostbitten local news correspondent ("its really coming down hard up here guys") and you've got a very interesting mix, especially for a town with no stoplights and no mayor. read more

Run of the mill coffee with decent service. This is one of the few stops before hitting The Gorge if that's where you're heading. OR if you're heading to Wenatchee, same thing. Grab your fix and go. The food is a bit higher in price but if you saw what was around (other than a restroom), you'll see there are not too many food choices. I'd still drop by knowing this is more than the halfway point to where I need to go. read more

Stopped here the other day on our way to Spokane. The pizza was decent, if not quite as hot as I'd expected. Can't speak to the quality of their coffee since we didn't have any, but the service was quite good. It was a woman in her 50s behind the counter.. perhaps some of the bad experiences reported here were by younger kids? No, things aren't cheap here, but they're about what you might expect when you're one of the only things between North Bend and Ellensburg. Decent selection of cold drinks and gifts, as well. Almost bought a die-cast car for my kid. I'll definitely stop here the next time we cross the pass. read more

This is definitely the nicest place I've found west of Cle Elum & east of North Bend. ( I am wondering if one of the lodges has good food & coffee???) Let me tell you about the paradise that is Red Mountain Coffee. On a drive from Seattle to Tri-Cities, the car I was driving in with a friend broke down nearby. While we waited for a tow truck to come get us (it took 4.5 hours) we waited inside Red Mountain Coffee. Every employee was very friendly and eager to help us with any questions or coffee needs we had. They were completely understanding and let us wait in the cafe while we waited for our tow truck. They sell great pizza that kept us full and have a wide variety of drinks. Due to that fact that we were here for so long, I was able to come to the realization that my experience was not an isolated one. All of the baristas and staff are friendly and helpful to anyone who walks through the door. They are fast at making coffee, but put effort into making all of their drinks quality drinks. 10/10 would recommend read more

We have stopped here multiple times and have always had good service, not great, just good. Their drip coffee is good. But this time was horrible! We ordered breakfast burritos and they come in a cooler and get heated up, which is fine, we weren't looking for anything fancy. But these burritos were 4 days old (they have dates written on them) and the eggs were old, crunchy in spots, and just overall not edible. I also ordered a vanilla latte, but I definitely received the grossest coffee ever. And I wouldn't consider myself picky. The coffee tastes burnt and they put Irish cream, not vanilla in it. We were already down the road before we noticed everything, so it was just money wasted. One of the worst things though was the service, the employees were just talking amongst themselves and ignoring customers. The man that came in behind us kept trying to get the employees attention and was completely ignored. I understand that accidents happen, food can get messed up, I totally get it. But bad customer service is never okay. I would give one star, but we have had good experiences there before. read more

I usually never give just a "one star" rating to any business because I know how difficult it is to run one, BUT, if you are a coffee company your signature product should at least be average to good. I am sorry, but as I stopped by for a cup of coffee on my way over the pass and was delighted to find a specialty coffee shop right near the restrooms. I thought "Jackpot!" Not!!! The cup of brewed coffee that I paid well for, must have been very very old? Or I don't even know? But I could not even finish it. I have finished bad coffee from various 7-11s or bad coffee from random gas stations to auto repair shops or... pick a place?! This was hands down the worst cup of my life. It really was. I paid for a good cup of coffee, what I tried to drink was not impressive. Sorry, not trying to be mean, in fact I will make this a 2 Star because there must be something I'm missing, but this was a VERY bad cup of coffee.. read more

Twice in two weeks we've stopped here and visit #2 sealed the deal. Nothing is more unnecessarily upsetting than employees who don't take initiative, responsibility or pride in their job. The people who work here won't help you if your request doesn't fall within their category: the coffee person won't help you get pizza five feet away, even if the pizza person isn't there. The pizza person won't serve you pizza if they are too busy cutting slices and they won't tell you when fresh pies are available when you've already pre-paid for them. The cash register person won't communicate with the other staff members to find out who took an order and how they can help get the customers who have been standing there for 20 minutes what they need. We finally got someone to get us some slices, not the kind we wanted, but we just wanted to get out of there with something in our stomachs. To top it off, the crust was very doughy and wet. Big mistake - after 5 hours of skiing we will always be ready and willing to eat, drink and support local establishments - and we will do this every weekend. But not here. Never again. read more

I saw the sign for Red Mountain Coffee as I was approaching the pass on I-90, I thought I'd give it a try in order to have a little caffeine boost on my way to Spokane. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they make a decent macchiato with pretty good quality coffee comma and the pizza was unexpected Plus! I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a fun little break on a long drive. There are some gift shop items little snacks to take on the road with you. read more

Always my go-to spot when skiing Snoqualmie. Pizza is some of the best I've ever had, and they're always accommodating when ordering a full pie or lots of slices. Coffee is always better when it's ski season than in the off season, but still a good cup of joe. Also chapstick + granola bars = satisfied ski bum. read more

Super friendly staff! Came in on a cold night looking to warm up with coffee/grab some snack for the ride back to the city. Got two slices of pizza (omg, wow!) And a couple of hot drinks (marshmallow mocha was absolutely delish!!!!!). Hubs opted to get a FRAP (yes, a cold ass frapp) and that was better than sbux good! Server let us know that they had kids sized hot chocolate too since we had our 3 year old with us. Her drink was amazeballs! I love how they have tables to sit and relax. We sat and ate our pizzas and seriously, the ambiance was awesome! Felt like we in Colorado's ski country. Really great people, drinks and food. I would definitely be back!!!! read more

I'm always glad this place is here. It's a cafe, pizza place gift shop, and it's attached to a historical travelers's rest stop. In fact, I never cross the pass without stopping here. The coffee is OK, the pizza is thick crust, not my style, but the refrigerated foods are surprisingly good. No need to be too picky here, after all, it is an oasis. read more

If you are planning on staying to eat or drink, there are only 3 tables, 2 small ones and 1 large round, so if it happens to be busy, you might be out of luck. The pizza smells delicious when you first walk in, which was completing unexpected, since the name of the place isn't exactly "Coffee and Pizza". They have a lot of snack options, and all of the usual coffee options. It's not Starbucks, but it's a good independent alternative. And yes, the employees aren't exactly the most upbeat and friendly, but in typical service experiences at ski hill establishments, service is usually underwhelming. read more

My husband and I stopped in to this cute little shop on our way home after a day on the snoqualmie summit. We thought it would be a nice and quiet place to grab some coffee and warm up after a day on the slopes. How wrong we were. The woman taking our order basically ignored us while laughing with a coworker but was straight up rude as soon as she decided she should actually talk to us. My husband ordered an espresso shot and she looked at us like we were the dumbest people that had ever walked this earth saying how confused she was that we would even request that. I would never visit this shop ever again even though their coffee is pretty good. I didn't even feel bad not giving a tip. Worst customer service ever. I have never felt more unwanted as a customer. I hope no one else ever has to experience what we did. read more

We stopped here today on our way over the pass and ordered two pieces of pizza. My husband didn't know to order a drink with the pizza to get a "two pieces of pizza plus drink" special, so he bought it without. When he went back to ask if we could order the drink and pay the supplement (10 cents), the girl behind the register told him no, we'd have to pay the full amount. Ridiculous. Not that a soda is terribly expensive or anything, but the inflexibility and robot-like personality was typical of our experiences there. My husband and I travel across Snoqualmie Pass frequently. We often stop for a coffee and a scone, which are very good. Yesterday, after stopping, I was in a hurry and left my purse hanging on the back of my chair. Of course, when I realized I didn't have it, I panicked. Great pizza-- TERRIBLE SERVICE! The latest example-- The girl told me the soda/fountain machie was broke(had been all day)-- so I couldn''t get a Diet Pepsi. Mentioned I really wanted a soda, bummer... but alright. She then started to ring me up for just the pizza... when I noticed that they had a fully stock glass, commerical cooler with cans/bottles of soda right be behind me... in her plainsight-- she looks at it all day! So, MAYBE something she could have pointed out to me, don't ya think? If not for my benefit-- but for hers or the owner's profitability. Talk about a lack of initiative or awareness. However, the pizza maker(older lady) was extremely nice-- but the front counter "help" (younger girls) need re-training(extensive and consistent) on customer "SERVICE." I always stop at this palce when travel through Snoq Pass-- the pizza is that good-- but every time the service is severely lacking... And I do love good pizza. ;) read more
