I have had both my tattoos done here and love them. This is solely my experience getting a septum piercing. I had Gina and she was super nice, but it took three tries before she finally gave up. I was told my cartilage was too thick and she had never experienced anything like this in her 10 years of piercing. I kept telling her that we could stop and that I did not want it if we couldn't do it. She insisted to keep trying. I just wanted it to stop. This was a pretty bad experience but I ended up leaving with a regular nostril piercing. Again, she was super nice. I just wish she would have looked at my nose before hand or stopped after the first try when she saw my cartilage was too thick. read more

Just stopping in to visit from NC, needed to pick up a new nose ring and change out my daith. Prices and selection of jewelry are on point. I was welcomed into a decent size, well kept waiting area with a coffee machine and vending machines and candy in jars. Really nice and professional looking and both ladies that helped me out were so nice and friendly. The piercer gave me info on how to get more piercing info which I appreciated. Red Octopus is quite a nice tattoo parlor. Very organized, clean, and eye-catching. It may not be in the best location but it's really a great shop. I had a tattoo in mind for months and after much research finally contacted Duffy for a consultation. She was able to squeeze me in last minute the next week. Her drawing was stunning and she was very accommodating when it came to editing it to fit my exact desire. I left much of the design up to her as she is the artist and I am far from, and I could not be happier with what she did. The ombre effect in the coloring is stunning. The parlor is very clean and friendly. The chairs are comfortable enough for the normal 1-3 hour sittings and the other artists, when not busy with their own work, walked around and were very chatting with each others clients. It was nice to break up the monotony of a 2.5hr session. I will be returning and highly recommend Duffy! read more

Woke up yesterday and decided to get my left nipple pierced. Drove to the shop and was immediately greeted by the front desk. I told them what I wanted and filled out paperwork. Cassidy led me to her station and did the piercing. From my research, I knew the piercing was going to be very painful. Cassidy put me at easy and made me feel I was in good hands. Not gonna lie, the procedure was painful, but fast. She explained the after-care clearly and answered all my questions. I was in and out the door within 20-25 minutes. read more

My wife and I stopped by the booth today at the Tattoo Expo in Crystal City. We were referred to Duffy by a really nice artist with another shop, who was honest about not being able to do what I wanted. Long story short.... we walk up to the booth, ask a nice young lady for Duffy, who points her out. Duffy is talking to a couple of guys, so we patiently waited while looking at the portfolios on the table. When she was done talking, she turns her back to the table and starts fiddling with equipment. After about a minute, the other lady tells her "I think they wanted to talk to you or ask you something. " Duffy continues to keep her back to us and does not even acknowledge that we're standing there. The other lady's face was pretty awkward as she saw us being ignored. We decided to leave. I've gotten work and piercings at 2different Red Octopus locations and was pleased. This was rude, disrespectful and unnecessary. You're at an expo.... when someone approaches your booth asking for you and you're not tattooing, acknowledge them.... simple! Even if you're busy and prepping for another client, it's very simple to acknowledge someone. There was a blizzard outside today and the place was not crowded at all, so that's no excuse. read more

Sometimes this place gets a bad rep because its been the only place around for a long time but in a semi rural area. I've had a few tattoos and piercings done here and have been very satisfied. Everything is done out in the open so you can others getting worked on and see them sterilizing and opening all equipment. No complaints here! read more

The older lady, possibly the manager made a disclaimer that their was no guarantees on tattoo and I was thinking Oh Sh%t, that's not a vote of confidence. Duffy is hands down the most professional and amazing artist. She is extremely people focused and does exactly what you're asking for. I've been tattooed by her at her shop as well as at MANY expos. She always stops and talks to people, is polite and just a pleasure to work with. I am constantly getting compliments on the work I have from her. I absolutely love Red Octopus. I have two tattoos, both done here. The shop is clean and comfortable. My first tattoo was done by Julie, she was incredible and really worked with me to make my tattoo perfect. She listened to everything I said, and made it perfectly dainty like I wanted. She took so much time in the little details, and everyone else in the shop was interested in the progress of my tattoo. My second tattoo was designed by Duffy to start with, and then Dave finished the design. Dave did the tattoo, and he did it wonderfully! He was super friendly and kept telling me how good I was doing. Dave also did a beautiful job with the color and shading making the flowers in my tattoo to pop. The overall atmosphere here is incredible. All the artists seem to have a good relationship and are enjoyable to be around. They joke with each other and all the customers.
