I was with Jacqi for a tattoo this was my second piece with her and my first comission (first one was flash) and I absolutely loved the tattoo and experience. Everything was clean and process was fast and easy. I'm not very experienced with tattoos and tend to be a baby with pain and can't even look at needles but Jacqi is very experienced and made the whole process smooth and easy. Definitely reccomend both Jacqi and Wicked Goddess- her art style is soooooo cool and even though I havent been pierced here they have a huge jewelry selection.

This is inspired by the Minnesota resistance symbol with a cardinal and dogwood for Virginia.

Got another tattoo from Maddy. She took my inspiration and just knocked it out of the park. So happy and proud to display her art.

I got my conch and flat pierced here by Tobias yesterday. It was a great experience and I love them! Hands down will go back again!

Damaris Martinez is a phenomenal tattooist. I am thrilled with how this turned out. She is an excellent conversationalist and told me she excels at lettering. She was not wrong. It cost $100 for the deposit and another $100 for completion. Given the size, I didn't think the cost was bad for what I received. It took just under 2 hours. Wicked Goddess is an amazing space, and so welcoming of LGBTQ+ people and pagans.

Amazing tattoo artist!! Their quality of work is above and beyond what I have seen over the years.

This is the best piercing experience I've ever had, My piercer was so nice. The vibe was calm and my piercers attitude made any pain I experienced worth it. I got my Dahlias pierced looking forward to coming back!!

Getting a tattoo has been on my bucket list for quite sometime. After having gone through quite a lot the past few years, I realized that life is short and you have to do the things that scare you...getting a tattoo was one of them. For years, I would draw or use Sharpie on my skin and draw hearts on my wrist or write "Love" in cursive. I never went through with it until going through what I would deem a life altering experience (and not the good kind) but it gives you perspective and gives you this nudge or push to live life as if the world were going to end tomorrow kind of thing. So I did it. I searched for a tattoo shop on Yelp and Google. In my mind, I had a Tattoos By Lou kind of perception on tattoo shops (it actually exists...in Miami...where I hail from)...You know...the kind with a neon sign adorning the window, with a tattoo of a snake or a heart with a sword decorated with the snake and ivy swirling up it and a guy tatted up with the tattoo machine buzzing gearing up and ready to go. Yeah, not really my scene...so I asked the universe for a tattoo shop that would not offer that grungy type of experience and I happened upon Wicked Goddess tattoo. I will say that at first I was somewhat reluctant to go simply because of the name "Wicked Goddess"...I do not consider myself to be such but like maybe it is meant in like a bad*** type of way like when teens say "that's rad or wicked" (i think that kind of slang was used in the 80's, but still) and read the reviews and they were all great. I made the appointment via email after checking out their website. It seemed exactly the kind of place that would be perfect to get my first (and I would come to learn, not last) tattoo. I liken the vibe to being serene. It did smell like what I would assume to be ink or like a sterile hospital lol but you get used to it. What I was impressed by was how much effort was put into making sure my tattoo would be just right. Sara, the director, went ahead, on my first visit, as I have been twice now..actually created a stencil for me of a cross and the word "fearless". She printed them out for me and then placed them on my skin where i wished for them to be. She printed various sizes to give me a better idea of what it would look like. After deciding the right size, she told me to have a seat and would prep the station beforehand. You also have to complete some forms as well prior to getting the tattoos and they are serious about one. One has to do with like the dermatological association of Virginia, almost like a consent form you'd receive before you go to a doctor's appt. and the other was a waiver outlining possible risks. I particularly liked the decor in the store, kind of mystical oriented, but still neutral enough to not feel like you were entering a store based around witchcraft. After prepping the station, Sara had to prep me and my skin. She explained step-by-step what she was doing. I am very much an information seeker so it actually relieved my anxiety to know what it would feel like or what might come next. She told me it would feel like a cat scratch which it felt more like if i dug a really sharp human nail and etched a drawing into my skin. It is not unbearable, but it is uncomfortable and I winced and flinched and scrunched/squeezed my eyes shut to bare with it. It's a needle poking into the top layer of your skin, so you're bound to feel something. After I had completed one, (the cross), it was onto tattoo #2. which was a word in cursive which would take more time. It went by quicker than expected. I almost passed out and saw stars towards the end after she was finished, but made it through. I will say that my second time back was just as pleasant as the first. I did not wait long. She made sure (Sara) that my tattoo (a heart) was exactly how I wanted and the color I wanted. She even mixed some together at first to play around with what color I was looking for. I highly recommend you ask for her if it's your first time getting a tattoo. She won't make you feel weird or awkward amd will guide you through the process. The store owner was nice as well. They seem like they all get along well. It is cool that it is a women's run business (#femalepowerment) ^_^ Will I be back?...Most likely...I am considering paw prints next to honor all dogs and cats and animal life everywhere, that or "Love Always Wins". The point is that they did an excellent job and I am lucky I found such a good establishment to do my tattoos. They were also very responsive in respect to getting back to me in a timely manner and booking an appt. I had missed the first appt. and were kind enough to not charge me a fee or anything as you never know because some places do that, like when you miss a dinner reservation at a popular place. I highly recommend their services. It's clean, non-threatening, has a very chill/peaceful vibe and the staff is very nice. They treat it like body art and I am amazed at what these artists can do.

Do not come here unless you are fine with undisclosed, AI-designed tattoos…read more We booked with Ken, and came in for a consult. We provided numerous reference images and discussed the overall design and goal with him. We then paid a $500 deposit for him to design and draw the tattoo over the course of a month, with the rest due once we got the tattoo. We were really hopeful and encouraged based off his portfolio and the studio's overall reputation. First, we did not receive the design until 2 days before our appointment. Second, once we saw the design, it clearly involved clipart and AI. Third, the design did not match at all what we discussed in the studio. When we asked about how the design was generated, and specifically whether AI was used, Ken said no, he drew it himself. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked to talk about changes before coming to the studio. He said no, changes would have to be discussed and made same-day. Once we came to the studio, Ken was polite, but the disconnect only worsened. We explained the problems with the design, and gave additional reference images. He asked for some time to rework based off those reference images. 30 minutes later, he showed us a plainly AI generated, generic image that did not align with the design at all. At this point he admitted to using AI. We explained we did not want AI used to design the tattoo, and he said he would try again. 30 minutes later, he showed us a design outline. We noticed more inconsistencies that suggested it was still based off AI. We asked again whether AI was used again, and he admitted that he outlined the AI output based on a reference image we gave him. At this point we felt unheard and frustrated, and asked for a refund. He initially said no, and then ultimately conceded a partial-refund. In total, we spent $250 and 3 hours of our time to not get a human-made design, or a tattoo at all. We each have tattoos already. We appreciate and want to support artists. But this was unacceptable. If you want to know AI is not used in your tattoo, or feel confident that your design will be followed, do not go here.

Lora is truly the best -- highly recommend. I used to have very low piercings and they looked terrible. I tried getting stacked piercings at Rowan, but the nurse (piercer) didn't really know what they were doing. My ears were poked multiple times, nothing was lined up, and it just looked off. Even though I paid a lot, I ended up taking them out. Then I went to Lora -- she immediately understood what I wanted, walked me through everything, and gave thoughtful recommendations. The result looks SO much better. I honestly wish I had found her earlier. Do not go to places that use piercing guns or devices -- they don't follow your markings properly. Go to Lora.

Be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars once you factor in the premium jewelry they require you to purchase. Their piercing appointments are scheduled for an hour, yet the actual piercing only takes about 5-10 minutes. A significant portion of the appointment is spent discussing and selling jewelry. The real problem came with the follow-up downsizing appointment. After they emailed me to schedule it, the earliest availability was about a month out. As a new mom coordinating childcare for a baby and making a 40-minute drive through NoVA traffic is not easy. The downsizing appointment itself is only scheduled for 20 minutes, which made what happened next even more frustrating. Unfortunately, there was a lot of traffic on a Saturday and I arrived 12 minutes late. When I got there, a front desk lady met me at the door and refused to let me in. My appointment was canceled on the spot because I hadn't called or texted to say I was running late. I was driving and not checking my phone, which apparently didn't matter. There was no flexibility, no understanding, and no sympathy whatsoever for any circumstances. I was told another client was waiting in their car. So after waiting a month for an appointment, arranging my schedule around a baby, and driving 40 minutes, I left without receiving any service at all. Their policies may be their policies, but customer service matters too. The experience felt cold, inflexible, and completely dismissive. Given how much time is built into their appointments and how heavily they emphasize jewelry sales, I was surprised there was absolutely no flexibility for a customer who was a little late due to traffic. There are plenty of piercing studios out there, and after this experience, I would absolutely not waste time here. The prices are already high, and the lack of consideration for customers and new moms made me feel like a lesser person.

So I had to let them heal before I could get it done right. I had mostly had Jen do the piercings and the downsizing when it came time. She always gave feedback and was very patient with my questions as well. Tobias was the last person I saw for what was supposed to be a last downsize before I'm set until they heal, but they recommended I stick with the current post. So I actually didn't have to have anything else done. Now, I'm just waiting for my helixes to heal! Here are some more information that may help you determine if Brilliance Piercing is the studio for your piercing needs: they require appointments for any type of service (no drop-ins/walk-ins); they only work with jewelry they have for sale (I believe this is to ensure that the quality of the jewelry is top-notch and they know exactly the metal content - optimal healing conditions); when you have an appointment, you can't bring anyone with you; their jewelry are quite pricey, but not much more than other studios around. Their team is always upbeat, friendly, patient and knowledgeable: they will answer any question you may have and also always ensure you are aware of anything important regarding your piercing after care, etc. They have a wide selection of jewelry appropriate for whatever piercing you're getting! I'm happy with my experience and will come back for more piercings when I'm ready! I trust their professional opinions and also feel comfortable with the quality of their services. Definitely recommend.
