I was a patient here back in 2021 for over 2 months. Within that time, I developed deeply rooted…read moretrauma and get panic attacks anytime i've had to go inpatient. On the girl's unit at the time, there were these 3 staff members who would relentlessly bully myself and my peers but i was the main target. Everyone was medicated beyond comprehension. Most, if not all, of us were practically zombified. I was on trazadone, which, if you don't know, if a very intense sleeping pill. I was unable to wake up to go to the bathroom due to this medication so practically every night, i would soil the bed. Those 3 staff members would mainly use that for their tactics. Because of that issue, i received the nickname "pee-body" by these staff members. And whenever i tried to report it, I was openly dismissed by the supervisor who was their friend. She had not only witnessed this mistreatment, but also encouraged and participated in it. Food was absolute shit and we'd practically cycle through the same foods every 2 weeks. At one point, I had a panic attack because of the staff members and a patient who i ended up sharing my information with had held my hand and comforted me. We had used our sweaters to cover the hand holding because any physical contact, regardless of if its for comforting reasons, was prohibited. Due to this incident, the entire unit lose access to their sweaters IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. Whenever we went to get our meds, we had to walk outside for about 2 ish minutes between buildings WITHOUT THE SWEATERS while it was freezing. They would also refuse to use preferred names and pronouns for the patients unless said patient was favored by staff.

Then, I got 7 minutes to do everything that you would do in the shower like getting clean and drying off, and you also have to get out of the shower room by the time the clock goes off. If you weren't out by then, you would get sentences. Mr. Martin yelled at me one time, just over me saying "crayons" quietly to myself. The doctor never saw us in person, it was always by video. Then, there was a really disrespectful staff member, at least towards me, that was bullying me there. Lastly, they had bedbugs, and cared to lie to my mom about it...

When I brought it up, leadership focused more on my "reaction" than the abuse my child suffered. I asked to see the camera footage and was told: "Our cameras don't record." No action was taken. Just avoidance and attitude. From that moment, the tone changed--cold office staff, poor communication, and no consistency in my daughter's care. Still, I kept bringing her, hoping things would improve. They didn't. Then on July 21, 2025, I was verbally attacked in the parking lot by another parent who hit my car. I have full video proof--she started everything. Hours later, I was told my child was expelled because of that "incident." Not one staff member witnessed it. No one asked for my side. They didn't care about my evidence. When I asked again about the cameras, I got the same answer: "They don't record." Let that sink in: I was harassed, and my child was punished. This wasn't about policy. It was retaliation for the March incident, when I dared to speak up. And I have to ask: If we weren't Black, would this have happened? I calmly picked up my daughter, made no scene, and within 20 minutes found a new ABA center that welcomed her with professionalism and care--everything BI lacked.
