I don't usually come here for dinner, however I do love their flight of beers for $6! You get three beers (I usually have all IPA's) and a night of fun with friends. When I was here last I had the cheese sticks, which surprised me that they were so thin but had that crunchy outside crust. Also I had the roast beef sandwich with 1,000 island dressing, and man did it fill me up. I usually finish all my fries but wasn't able to due to how stuffed I got. If you want to sit outside please note it is the smoking section so if you don't want smoke stay inside. Overall the staff was extremely friendly and I'll be sure to be back soon for another flight of beer! read more

On my most recent visit 11-12-13 I was a little taken back by the quality of service. My server seemed to have not known policy or had interpreted it differently then what the sign said. First I ordered a water as I usually do at every restraunt I go to then I proceeded to order the burger deal 4x bypass ( reccomend if not over cooked) which tonight it almost felt overdone and another burger. The burgers are usually top notch. After I order the burgers I was told I could not take my second burger home as it is done in only (I've been here before and had no problems with taking the second one to go) but then I was told I had to purchase 2 drinks to get the deal. *please note the sign says with a drink purchase not two drinks* As my friend and I were sitting in dining area the server begins to talk to the bartender and as I can read lips I knew they were talking about us. I simply asked them to come and explain to me what was going on and what the deal was.... She explains that the deal is you need to buy 2 drinks and it was intended for 2 people to share not just for one person I'm a large individual and have put two burgers down before not with ease but the task has been done.... I'll end this review with this the food I received tonight was sub par at best and the service and policies for the meal deals is not clearly stated by sign or by server. ( well at least they don't match up) So I am unsure if I would go back again or not. I do however reccomend there sweet potatoes fries with the butter dipping sauce read more

I overlooked the bathroom stench on my 5 star visit, but now with 83 degree indoor heat and fetid conditions this is 1 star. Maybe I'll redo my rating when the cold weather arrives? There is no excuse for it. DO NOT VISIT in warm weather. (Unless you like outdoors in Hong Kong in spring...I do not...) Again, DO NOT VISIT in warm weather. Good job! On April 4th, 2012 I went with a client, I have been here before to the smoking area to smoke cigars after Trotters. The beers were the best in town (selection, not sure about "beer clean" glasses, but good pours). The Wed. steak meal had a FRESH salad and a GOOD steak and GOOD potato. At 8:45pm Wed. the bartender didn't smile but he was I think just very into doing a good job and, I had my wife with me, we got him to smile and lighten up. But on all major counts this place delivered. Pretzel sticks were good. They changed TVs to good stuff quickly. This place can have, metaphorically speaking, it's jock strap cleaned by Reverend's. City Tap is making the right moves. Picking up a Reverend's menu is like trying to decide which end of the piece of poop is the right end to pick it up by. i have heard only good reviews about the food at this place. Good selection of beer. I ordered a Reuben and our table also had a strip steak special at $9.99. It was ok but looked like a Sam's Club frozen steak. Not a bad flavor but just ok. the Reuben was stringy and tough. The fries were great and baked potato was decent. City Tap has a great selection of beers, and at a great price. Beer of the day was the Dunkel, which only cost $2. I would, however, like to see City Tap keep their kitchen open a bit longer. 10pm is not too late to expect food-- at least appetizers. This will not only raise the price of your tickets, but also make sure that your customers are drinking on a full stomach (and, not unintentionally driving home drunk!). We visited three of the five bars owned by the same group in downtown Bowling Green and I'd say this is the nicest one of the three. Behind the bar was decorated with backlit empty liquor bottles lined up and I don't know if they realize that the end two displays are shaped like the letter P and the center two are around televisions, so their displays spell out 'POOP'... maybe as they add to their display this will change. The bar was clean, not so much in the restrooms. YUCK! There was plenty of seating and a large selection of craft beers on tap. We ordered a couple baskets of fries to snack on while drinking. They were stingy with the servings, but they were good. The staff were not at all attentive. They cared more about drinking their own drinks, when their friends were there and socializing with each other. They would ignore anyone else coming to the bar to order as long as they could. There was a foosball and pool table available. The nice beer selection and abundant seating is about all I can say was good here. read more

This is a lot of college kids, locals, and old people trying to be young. I've been here twice now while visiting my significant other's hometown and they always seem to have those three populations rolling deep around there. Usually in college bars I feel like it's older men ogling college girls, but observations from both visits tell me that this is a cougar's den. (If you're looking for creepy old guys, you'll have to look elsewhere, perhaps Kamikaze's?) Why do we go? Well, I'm under the impression that the beer list is decent, "the best beer list in BG," but I can't attest to this because I don't drink beer. I believe they also have food, but we've never had it. There was no cover charge or anything and it has decent seating, but it did fill up and we were grabbing chairs off the patio. If you want seating, get there before 10:30 and start grabbing chairs for your friends. It seems like a decent "hangout" bar with pool tables, darts and music that I wish was just a smidge lower so we could hear each other. All in all, it's a college bar, so it's everything I expected it to be. read more

Stopped into the City Tap after the Wood County Fair and it was pretty empty. Waitress greeted us quickly. I ordered the Pulled Pork Tacos to eat and Clown Shoes Sombreo Stout to drink. The food came out pretty quick and the beer was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The stout was only $5, which is a great deal. The tacos had a cranberry slaw on top and it was amazing. Great bar food and service! read more

After being taken to a different place in downtown BG, being promised great beer selection, and finding their feature to be Bud Light, I had low expectations for other bars in the immediate vicinity. Much to my surprise, City Tap had a very good though somewhat smallish selection--Victory Prima Pils, a couple of different Leinenkugel varieties, and Dogfishhead are a few I can recall off the top of my head. I take off a couple stars mostly because of the way we were greeted. We came in around 12:30 right when they open. We found empty tables all around and a bartender, doing nothing but putting all of her energy into piercing us with an icy stare. When we looked uneasy, she said we could sit anywhere. So we sat out on the patio. Then when after a couple of minutes no one had come out (and I could see her just staring at us through the window), I went back in and asked if they were serving food, she said "Yea, I'll find your waitress." How dare I interrupt whatever it was she was doing. But our waitress was quite nice once she did come out. read more

There are lots of great places to eat & drink in BG. This is one of my favorites. Food is always extremely good and the selection of beers on tap is always superb. The prices are really reasonable for both the food and the beer. The burger menu offers lots of great options, all available on a pretzel bun, and the hand cut fries are some of the best I've had. read more

Both in Bowling Green and downtown Cleveland, the plethora of beer selections is what I like about this place. They even designate which "new" beer has been added, which adds more time to your selection process from the pondering you must do on what would be the "best." Great selection of drinks in a beautiful location! If you get Andrew, you can find someone to have a great conversation about filmmaking or California, or booze. He's a really nice guy. Upstairs is great, you have the best view of Bowling Green, and can see all the students out partying, but fortunately people under 21 aren't allowed in the bar. A favorite hangout with the guys, this place always has a great selection of beers. I really appreciate that they post the price of all the drafts, so you aren't shocked when the bill arrives and you're shelling out $8 for a pint. They also always have a beer of the day for $2 and this can often be some very good craft beer that should fetch double that price at least on a normal day. Only drawback is the cigarette smoke that often blows in from the patio (though it reminds me of pre-smoking ban days). Tip: order the pretzel bun on your burger, you'll love it! read more

City Tap is my favorite bar in BG. Great food- get your burger on a pretzel bun! Excellent draft selection, this is where I go to enjoy a few hoppy IPAs and a tasty dinner whenever I am back at the alma mater. The Attic is relatively new, it wasn't there my first two years BG. It is 18+ and features plenty of underage drinking and a club scene. Not my thing, but I would say it is the nicest club in BG. read more

Waiter was also unsure of taste of beers on tap, and also didn't check in on us. Waiter wasn't sure what came on burgers and didn't bring silverware or napkins, as well as not refilling sodas. We went in at 615 and were greeted by a friendly server. There was only 5 tables in the entire place and multiple servers. Everything after was a disaster. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks and order. Then they had a small menu where 1/3 of it was burgers and they didn't have any burgers. We were rushed into ordering something else since we didn't know that so we just ordered simple wraps and apps. We sat with empty beer for 30 minutes at a time. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get our food, and it all came out wrong. We said it's fine we just were starving and wanted to get out of there and asked if we could get a discount which she said yes. At the end, the food still sucked after coming out wrong and there was no discount, no manager saying sorry for this. We will NEVER go back and please do not go there for anything other than a beer at 1am. read more

Great happy hour and weekly specials! I had the veggie burger - very yummy and my husband side his turkey reuben was the best he has had in a long time. Great service too - and prices were so reasonable. If you're a beer drinker - you won't be disappointed. Of all the bars in a small college town, this one seems to have the best atmosphere. At the City Tap downstairs, you can find a whole slew of beers on tap, with a decent bit of variety. If big fancy beers aren't for you, they still have the standards. Upstairs the atmosphere isn't nearly as relaxed, but is still a fun place to check out on a less busy night. I would usually suggest going downstairs to get a beer and then going upstairs to enjoy the night on the large outdoor patio. read more

If I could give less than 1 Star, I would. I paid for a beer to replace one I didn't like. They took the old beer, and still charged me for it. Had I known, I would have drank the icky beer! This place is great. Solid beer selection and good food. I like the burgers but my daughter really likes the salads. The beer is cold and they are creative with their specials. I was advised that the chili was pretty good. When it was brought out it was lukewarm and tasted like tomato paste and vegetable juice. Also a huge lack of meat and beans. Took two bites and sent it back. The cook said the best he could do was take 25% off the bill. We had the opportunity to meet friends for beers later on, I'm afraid they will not get our business. The absolute worst visit ever. Came in and sat down and it took the waitress about 6 minutes to even come over. After she finally got our drink order it took her another 15 minutes before we got out drinks. By this time we decided to order, so we did. The 1st waitress we had said she was sorry for the wait because she had 3 other tables, (two of which had already eaten, and only consisted of 2 people each) and that she was technically not our server because ours was late. After our actual server showed up , we had to ask for refills, but only 1 of the 4 refills was given to us even though all 4 drinks were completely empty. after waiting for about 50 minutes we finally got our food, which was completely over cooked. we were the only table after about 25 minutes of being there because the 2 were finished and left and the 3rd walked out because the serves was absolutly terrible. i get things happen, but being the only table we should not have waited 50 minutes for food, and only have recieved 1 refill the whole time, that I had to ask for. read more

We have frequented City Tap on many occasions with mixed results. The burgers in the past have been a highlight and it is fun to play pool or watch a game while waiting for the food. However, we have had spoiled soup and not warm soup served to us. Note: avoid soup! Tonight I ordered the Caesar salad which was $6.90ish and had grilled chicken added for $2. My complaint is that the salad was very small, what you might expect as a side salad anywhere else and all it was a small portion of romaine with dressing and some crappy (tiny small square) croutons....really? I took a picture to post, because I couldn't believe it, but I guess I can't add it here. We will not bother stopping here anymore and just head to Easy Street (across the street) or up to Red Robin to have a decent salad when in the mood. Too bad, we don't have too many places from which to choose in BG....this one will be moving to the "I don't think so" list. read more
