The Heights is definitely one of the best spots in Toledo for a night out. The rooftop views are stunning. You get a great look at the river and downtown, especially around sunset. The atmosphere feels modern and chic without being overly stuffy, making it perfect for date night or hanging out with friends. The cocktails are creative and well-made, and the food is solid with a nice mix of shareable plates and entrées. Service is usually friendly, though it can get a little slow when the place is packed. Prices are on the higher side for Toledo, but you're really paying for the location and the experience. Only reason I can't give it a full five stars is that it does get very busy on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait if you don't have a reservation. Came to the Heights for a birthday bash in adjoining areas of this restaurant. Awesome facility with great views of downtown Toledo and the river. Some of the food we had included pork sliders and also Waygu sliders. These were tasty and let's face it, you will eat more than one. The charcuterie platter was very solid and I part liked the prime rib which was medium rare which is how I really like it. The desserts included tiramisu cake, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate chip cookies. The cookies in particular were soft and had great texture, just like mom's! The heights is a great place to take visiting friends from out of town. Have a fancy cocktail with the best views of the city. Great rooftop bar to start out or end a night on the town. It isn't however some place that I want to have more than one drink, hang out or have dinner. Its a hotel so you are paying that premium. I am a frugal gal. The views are fantastic! There's a choice of outdoor or indoor seating. Staff was friendly. I like when I see managers walking around and involved. The manager came and asked some questions. I informed him that they need more vegetarian/vegan choices for the appetizers. There are some hearty appetizers but most involve red meat, even my bruschetta. It was prosciutto on one of them. Now my guy had meatballs and beef egg rolls. Meatballs were huge and egg rolls thick. There was no shortness of portions. The bruschetta, while I wasn't impressed, it was still big slices with toppings. This restaurant is worth a try if staying in the hotel or near downtown. Other than the ambience of this restaurant being in a very nice hotel on the 11th floor overlooking the Maumee river, I wasn't very impressed with the food. The service was OK. It seemed a bit slow, but that's fine because we were really enjoying each other's company and taking in the views. The pizza was so greasy where it had pools of oil. Not sure if that was the intent, but I don't enjoy my pizza like that. The eggrolls were OK And the sauce came with made it pretty tasty, but I don't know if I would get either of those dishes again if I were to come back. It seems like this restaurant is more for the view and grabbing a cocktail with your friends hence, the limited menu that they provide. All in all it was a relaxing night. read more

Came here for a quick dinner with my partner after a long drive. We were greeted instantly and sat right away. The restaurant itself has a really cool decor, and if you want, you could even sit in the igloos outside with a certain minimum amount. Might come back for that one day! I ended up getting the steak frites and my partner got the burger with bison blend. The food was delicious! It is one of the best steak frites, I've had, the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Great location and views but poor service, mediocre and overpriced food and drink. Took 4 people to decide where to seat us in a half empty restaurant. Took 10 minutes for a waitress to come over. We ordered two martinis and a pizza. Another 10 minutes pass for us to get our drinks, which tasted very watered down. Pizza came shortly after and was floppy with minimal toppings. Our bill was $58 for two martinis and a personal size pizza. I gave another woman my card to pay since our waitress never came back around. She took my card and was talking on her cell phone while holding my card, then hung up and came to me and said she needed my PIN number....ive never been asked for my PIN number at a restaurant while using my debit card. Initial seating process, super friendly and felt like we were the priority. Once seated, we realized we truly were far from the priority. We were initially greeted by our server, but she didn't offer to take drinks, apps or anything (recognizing we were in the final hour of happy hour). After order placed (which included 1 draft beer and a single cheese pizza for the kids) the pizza arrived before the single draft beer. Another [what felt like] 15mins later, she comes back (after walked past numerous times), with the originally placed beer saying it conveniently fixed itself. Note, when the pizza was dropped off, we never were given plates, asked for napkins, anything. Just a "drop and go." By that point we were done.. but everyone else was still hungry. So we placed the rest of the order as a to-go (to the room), and closed out. For a restaurant that's advertised a top ranked restaurant, in a premium hotel.. you'd expect far superior service.. atleast a higher focus on customer service. The reason this review is so low is just because this time the place didn't hit. We did the igloos outside for a friend's birthday. It was FREEZING. Even with the small heater and us all having blankets it was not a vibe. I would not recommend them, but also the service was poor. I know our waitress kept saying they were slammed and it was a Saturday to give grace but we'd order a drink and have to wait 20 minutes before we'd see it. Which is hard when you have a minimum to meet and are in a timed space. Also (some) of the food we ordered took an hour to get to us when all we got was appetizers. Again waitress said the kitchen was slammed but it still seemed a bit extra. We loved our waitress she was SO kind but i think the business of a Saturday got to her. Would not ever eat at this place again. Food was fair to poor but the staff did not care about the ambience at all. Theo the manager kept letting this big guy carry on business calls with his ear pods on for over two hours while we were trying to dine. The man would leave his table and go by ours since we were in the corner and carry on ten minute conversations at a time. We mentioned to staff several times and no one ever asked the man to maybe conduct his business calls outside or somewhere other than the bar dining area. This restaurant is conveniently located at the top of the Renaissance hotel where I am staying. Great stop on the rooftop of the hotel overlooking the river and the downtown area. Restaurant has a great portion area, large dinning room and huge two sides bar. I sat at the bar twice and the bartenders are very nice and helpful. The beer selection room here is pretty good and they also make great drinks. Alexa made my bullet old fashioned. Delicious, just the way I like it. She gets full 5 stars. Food is where the restaurant looses one star, especially the mush pizza. I had high hopes seeing the pizza, wood burning oven sitting by the main entrance. Pizza came out with great looking under carriage burn but the cheese was though and lukewarm. Killed the entire pizza. The second night, I tried Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Great tasting sandwich showed up with a generous portion of fries. I do need to mentioned that the menu is priced just right. Warning! Sunday's are limited menu with only wood fired oven pizza and some things. I made the reservations via Open table and it had nothing in this. Also, the restaurants website doesn't provide any info on this limited Sunday menu either so it leads you to think it's full menu and service. We even checked out the website a week prior to the trip and the day off the dinner. I called about parking in advance and was told the don't validate. I didn't ask, just wanted to know where to park but that was a perfect time to mention the limited menu. Long wait getting to get seated and long waits on the waiter the whole time. We asked about the wine list and the waiter said he lost the wine list. It all looks good on the website, sounds fun, and in pics but I was so underwhelmed, under-impressed and just disappointed in general. I can't believe I showered and got dressed up for the evening and slightly embarrassed that I took someone out here for a celebration. One of the worst dining experiences I have had for 2021. This was the absolute biggest bday disappoint. The pizza was good but-unfortunately I don't think I would personally try this out again. Not the experience I signed up for. My husband and I weren't planning to be in Toledo at all. We were heading back from Savannah on our way to Mississauga (Ontario) when we heard a huge snowstorm was on its way to Buffalo and Erie. We decided to reroute on the fly and that's why we ended up staying in the hotel and eating at The Heights. First of all, the view is amazing. Unfortunately, it was dark because it was November, but we still loved it. Our waiter approached our table and had the BEST energy. He was so upbeat and friendly and made us feel incredibly welcome. We ordered Black Stallion cocktails to start. They were so delicious (and potent)! They were made with Bulleit rye, Averna, Cherry Heering, orange bitters and chocolate bitters. Then we ordered the meatball pizza and T-town Apple Salad. The pizza was good, but not the best we've had. The salad, however was amazing. It had apples, goat cheese, smoked bacon, arugula, salted pecans and was in an apple cider vinaigrette. Outstanding! But honestly, the service was a big part of what made the dinner so special. This beautiful bar was conveniently located at the hotel we were staying at. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night and the vibe was pretty hectic but we got a table immediately. It was night time and even though we were seated by a window, the lighting in the restaurant is so that you can't really appreciate the panoramic views of the city. What a great ending to a long day of travel. Staying at the Renaissance and wanted something lite and casual. The Heights fit that bill perfectly. I ordered the dip trio, which came with, duh, three different dips. A p pimento cheese, spinach artichoke dip, white bean garlic hummus along with an assortment of things to dip. A great dinner for a weary traveler. And anyone else! The cocktails we great as well. I had a Black of the night, which had gosling's black seal rum, lime, blackberry puree, ginger beer. Reminiscent of a dark and stormy but not. Best of all was my server Ricky. Very attentive and pleasant. Took time to advise on the menu as well as the area surrounding the hotel. Some sandwiches and wood fired pizza. The Buffalo Cauliflower came in a decent portion. Typical buffalo flavor with ranch. If you like the combination you will like these. The Heights has become a staple place for a beautiful night out in Toledo. I mean, it quite literally is up in the sky overlooking our city, and it's truly a treat. Their menu and drinks are wonderful. Nothing spectacular, but definitely worth the hassle of downtown parking. We started with the dip trio (creole pimento cheese, spinach artichoke dip, white bean garlic hummus) and a giant pretzel. Both were delicious, though I preferred the dip trio. I ordered the T Gown Apple salad with salmon, and it was light and sweet. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and a generous portion. I would absolutely order this again. For my cocktail, I am a huge Lemon Drop fan, so I selected the Lemon Drop the Mic. I was actually not a fan, lemon, vanilla and blueberry wasn't mixing well for me, and it was missing the tartness I adore, so I'll pass on this next go round. read more

We booked the Jungle Room igloo which had animal print blankets and a cool vibe. Unfortunately the heater wasn't working so we got moved to a different igloo which had a dining table set up instead. The blankets help a lot because the heater isn't enough to get cozy warm. We found it interesting that the drinks included in the cost didn't have garnishes but our second round did. The macaroni and cheese is creamy and spicy and beet shared since it is really rich. The pizzas were good but the crust was a little too doughy. Had to really argue with them for 15 minutes x 3 various staff members to get them to honor their own reservation. My drink was fantastic- Gin Twin, a show stopper if you're a gin fan. Perfect mix of acid and sweet. My guy had a local beer from Earnest Brew works, and that was excellent as most Earnest Beers are. The service is stellar, the view is stunning and the bar itself is lovely and modern with great lighting. There are plenty of seating options from cozy love seats to tables for a group to bar seating. It's a great impress your date spot. I can't speak much for the food, but if the oysters are any indication EAT BEFORE YOU GO and just enjoy the view, ambience, and drinks. Our oysters were about 90% salt and bread crumbs- terribly over seasoned, small and not all that fresh. I think I got spoiled in New Orleans. Located in the downtown area on the 12th floor of the Renaissance Hotel, you can't choose a better spot to crash at if you are an out of towner like myself. The bar has a great modern vibe to it with a lofty feel from the exposed ceilings and wooden pillars all around. Great open floor layout with the bar right in the center of it all. The black and chrome color scheme gives it an ultra cool and sleek look. On a Tuesday night they played Hip Hop along with Top 40 music that set the mood. A grown and sexy crowd that was comprised of your business men and women, locals, and out of towners. Great selection of beers, wine, and cocktails. I enjoyed my T-town Mule that was light and refreshing. For apps, we got the pita and hummus dip that came with pickled veggies that paired great with the dip! Also got the Americano wood fired pizza which had pepperoni toppings. It was one of the best seaaoned pizzas I've had in a while with a perfect crust. The bartenders were nice to look at and seemed to be all male who were fit and wore all black. It flowed well with the modern look and feel of the place. Shout out to our bartender, Merit, for our specialized drinks called the Cuban Missile Crisis. Tasted like a chocolate martini.
