It's a nice place. The hand crafted drinks are made to perfection, nice selection of draught beers. The food is on point. We sat at the bar and they were very friendly made us feel at home. It's cool large selection of whiskeys, bourbons, and scotch. We had an app and split the burger just to try the food and both very good. They have a solid selection of whiskeys. Not a lot of scotch. I had their clarified hot toddy and it hit the spot. Cream feta dip was filling. My only gripe was hot thick the cucumbers were sliced The seasonal fig fashion cocktail was a bit too on the sweet side. I think it could have been balanced a bit better. Service was nice. I've been here many times in the past. Years ago, it was the Columbian House, Link Inn, an alternate location for Red Wells, Degage (sp???), and probably a few other places that escape my memory. Today it's Levi and Lilac's. Not a bad place... The food menu is VERY burger forward. That said, I wasn't all that hungry, so I ordered the smoked chicken wings. I chose the Buffalo sauce, and it was a really good, kind of standard version of Buffalo sauce. Obviously, Frank's hot sauce with some "doctoring." The wings were smoked, but I really couldn't pick up on any smokey notes at all. The portion was fairly generous, and they were served with your choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing. My dining partner had a burger. Her choice of burger was the Old MacDonald burger with goat cheese, apple, sauteed onion and horseradish mayo. She said it was a great burger. We both opted for the coleslaw and it was quite tasty. My one quibble with the slaw is it was almost room temp. When a mayo based anything is served at room temp, I get a little nervous. That said, I ate it and had no "unpleasant aftereffects." Because this place is so forward on booze, I thought it would be a safe bet to order a martini. I explained that I wanted my specific brand of gin, it had to be very, very dry (I even said, "that means no vermouth"), and I wanted it on the rocks with a twist of lemon. They shook the hell out of it and served it in a stemless cocktail glass with ice. The server sat it down and waited for me to take a sip. I immediately nailed that it was shaken and said so. She did offer to replace the drink, but I I was so specific about everything else, I almost felt responsible for this error. that said, I shouldn't have. At $13.00 for a rather stingy 2 ounce pour, I really should have taken her up on the offer. Also, should drinks ordered, "on the rocks" ever be served in a cocktail glass? Again, there's no reason to shake these drinks. Imagine if the chef made everything in the deep fryer. Same thing... The shaker should be used for ingredients that don't want to mix together...fizzes, fruit juice-based drinks, anything with a heavy syrup, etc. What I ordered was gin. It doesn't need to be mixed with anything. No need to aerate the drink. Another bartender with no knowledge of their job... I digress! There is live music in their bar/dining room (acoustic guitar and vocals), but there is an alternate dining area where things are a little more subdued. I would suggest dining in the alternate room if you don't want to shout at each other over dinner. Anyway, the food was quite good. I feel the drink was partially my fault since I was unspecific about how I wanted the drink to be made. The waitress was wonderful, and the place was pretty clean. It's not cheap, but nothing is these days. It's really a 3.5 star place, but today, I'm rounding up! read more

Please do NOT sit under the ceiling fans, The blades were dripping with dust - it was disgusting to see and I haope they don't ever turn them on! When we entered I really liked the decor and ambiance, but the smell of grease was strong, and then seeing the fans turned me off completely. read more

Short story: I can't wait to go back for more amazing cocktails and excellent whiskey glazed Brussels sprouts. Long story: I finally got to visit Levi & Lilac's! It's been on my list for a while now and I would say it was the worth the wait. So, if you're waiting, stop! Just go! This trip, I went the appetizers route. Next trip, I might get a few different heavier options. However, I will always get the whiskey glazed Brussels. The pretzels were a little harder than my preference. The basket of fries was very hot. The Brie was pretty good as well and they definitely serve enough of it for a table to share. Whiskey: Well I actually ordered an Apple pie martini because it caught my eye on their featured menu. I then (mistake on my part) ordered two smoked manhattan's. Those were great. I preferred the smoked vs not smoked. And all were decent or standard sized glasses. The atmosphere is perfect for recapping your day or catching up with people. There's a lot of space and plenty of seating options. There's definitely a cozy feel to this place. read more

I was in town visiting my family. My sister and I stopped here on Mother's Day for dinner and drinks. The drinks and the Brussel sprouts were yummy and highly recommend. I got the peanut butter and spicy jam burger. The burger was good but wasn't a fan of the combination of ingredients. I would get a different type of burger when I am back in town. This rating is strictly based on two items. One item was 5-stars, the second was 1-star. It's wild that a "higher end" establishment can have two dishes on wildly different spectrums. Let's start with the good: The Brussels Sprouts in maple glaze with goat cheese. This was by far the best Brussels sprouts dish I've ever had. And it DOES NOT need the bacon added. It's perfect how it is. I could drink the maple glaze at the bottom of the bowl. The goat cheese gives the most amazing salty soft texture to the sweet glaze and crispy sprouts. I would give it 10 stars! The bad : the "carne asada" tacos. To start, the shells aren't cooked in any form or fashion, just raw corn shell. (Amateur) The meat was the most gristly, ugly, chewy piece of dog food meat I've ever tried to bite through. The gristle and fat ruined the dish and I left pieces I could no longer chew on the plate for the waitress or staff to see. Will they? Finally, the "salsa" is some kind of Italian dressing base. Terrible. Service was slow, but pleasant outside. Wish I would have ordered anything but the tacos as I'm sure they do other things well. read more

A couple looked in and saw that tables were available but not bussed You are a restaurant, do you not expect to be busy at dinner? On Friday night. We were eventually seated in what I call the 'overflow' room Separated from the main bar area. No table cloths No silverware. No service for almost 10 min. Candle on table, not lit. Felt like we were seated in the garage. Sad that the ambiance was flat for the money we spent to eat and have cocktails. When asking about paying the bill, we were told it's easier for her if we just pay online. There goes the personal connection that you expect when paying that kind of money. The food was delicious. Food was just ok. I did not get a burger which is what they seem to be known for but we did have a couple appetizers. Brussels sprouts were the small brussel sprouts that i've ever seen in they were overdone. I was hoping it would be a good place to get a dirty martini (my go to drink) amd it was horrible. The last time I was in this building it was the Degage Jazz lounge. I remember roaming thru a few floors with the Jazz playing in the background and some local musicians in the house. I don't know why that incarnation didn't make it. Now its Levi and lilacs but the building itself has over a hundred year history. Check out the website if you want to read up on it including a few in-house ghosts. It's a whiskey bar. And mostly appetizers and hamburgers. I'm not a big fan of beef so most of the menu does not appeal to me. However we did get the baked brie appetizer and on Mondays they do half off all pours including flight size pours so that's a great thing. If you open up the whiskey menu it is very daunting. Probably over 100 different types of whiskey. I'm not a whiskey person but I'll try anything once. Or maybe twice. It's got a kind of dark romantic type atmosphere although when we went in there was a live musician and there was a couple of large groups in there. I ordered a glass of wine because I didn't see me drinking a whole glass of whiskey but I did drink some of my man's flight and I will say for me the Japanese whiskeys were the must try. The baked brie was presented nicely and they even offered more baguette bread when I ate it all and still had cheese left. Unless you're into burgers though you will need to find a complete meal somewhere else. I think that's about all it's lacking. Nice friendly attentive bartenders. This is not a cheap spot. We spent about $50 for the brie, half price whiskey flight, 1 sazarac, a glass of wine, and beer for me. It is definitely worth it for a nice date night or just to come for happy hour which is from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m daily. I would definitely try to come during happy hour or on Mondays when the whiskey is half off so you don't break your pockets read more

Flipped coins based on Yelp selections in the area. Very quaint property with the different areas. To me, that was the biggest plus. Even though the ceiling height was fairly high in the room, acoustics were poor as it was quite noisy. Food was decent, and prices were a bit steep based on portion size and food quality. Stopped by for a late dinner on our way up to Michigan to chase after dying leaves. They had a few outside tables and with the weather still in the "good" zone we opted for socially distanced dining. The custom-crafted cocktail my wife wanted was not available (due to a missing ingredient), but the alternate choice she ordered she loved. We both ordered burgers for dinner...she the black and bleu version and I the smokehouse. She loved hers, covered in a delicious spice mix and tangy blue cheese. My Smokehouse burger was less than stellar...the onions were slimy and undercooked, the smoked gouda was not melted, and the thinn(er) beef patty was well done (I asked for medium rare). Luckily, their fries were tasty and seasoned just right. Will have to give them the benefit of the doubt (from my wife's perspective), think we might just need to give them another try next time through town. read more

I only stopped in for a appetizer and a drink. I've been to the coffee shop next door and wanted to see the restaurant. I love the ambiance and live music. I don't drink whiskey but my friend loved his smoked drink. I had a nice glass of wine. We decided to order a hummus platter (they made it gluten free). It was very unique and tasty. Unique place in a quiet neighborhood. The old, historic frame building is the bomb. Nice seating area inside in the bar area and outdoor seating as well. The wait staff is young, and I'd be patient if you're a scotch snob on the single malts because you'll have to spell many of the brands to them (they can't pronounce them either) because they don't know - give them a break, can you spell Auchentoshan or Laphroaig? Good food, but the burnt tips are overrated -- should have tried the Brussels sprouts. Burgers were good. Have fun -- drink responsibly and remember Scotch is from God's good earth and made to be enjoyed in moderation. read more

This is the kind of establishment that can be judged in just one visit because in some respects,the offerings are limited...either you like what they have to offer, or you don't. I do. Five stars. I did say that the offerings are limited, but the whiskey menu is huge and I wouldn't call it pretentious. There are other places in town that have decent whiskey lists, but Levi & Lilac have the biggest, and the best...by a wide margin. Remember, whiskey is expensive. It's very easy to come in here, order of flight of mid-level whiskey, order some sliders or some brie, and drop 50 bucks. You want to indulge in JW Blue and the like? Plan on 100 bucks. The beer selection and the wine selection are nothing special, but then again, this place ain't called a wine/beer bar, now is it. There is some food, but don't go into this thinking that Levi & Lilac's is a restaurant. Think of this as a whiskey bar that serves some appetizers. I did order the sliders, and they were really, REALLY good. 11 bucks will get you three "gourmet" sliders. Now, I'm not really sure that any slider can be called "gourmet," but these sliders are excellent...fresh beef with unique toppings. Atmosphere: The Commercial Building in Maumee (River Road and East Wayne) has been a deathtrap for restaurants. Maybe this is because the building is haunted? Dunno, but honoring two of the ghosts by naming the bar after them may help this place stay in business (haha). The place is fairly large. It's shape and size facilitate live music, including Karaoke at one side, and simultaneous cool chillin' at the other. I heard it gets busy. Overall, the building is somewhat reminiscent of the Oliver House in Toledo. Service: Excellent (at least it was yesterday at around 6 pm). I've been to bars in other cities that have larger (and more expensive, and more pretentious) whiskey selections, but in this area Levi & Lilac's Whiskey Room is tops. Great atmosphere keeps this from being a 1 star. Service was poor. Tables around us, that were sat after us , were served and gone before we even finished. Even an "internet interruption" delayed our drinks. That is likely a server issue. Burgers had very little flavor outside of the toppings and still weren't great and full of flavor. The fries were cooked well but, again, rather bland for seasoned fries. The drinks were a mixed review. Spiced Pear Mule was really good but my New York Sour (my favorite cocktail) was probably one of the worst I've had. Again, things just seemed rather bland. Limited menu, so I got the Babe N Blue burger with fries and the house Chardonnay. Burger was good and cooked to order. Fries were cold and dry, and I only ate a few. Chardonnay was warm due to a broken chiller and was offered ice. Why the bar didn't ice down their white wine after the chiller broke is beyond common sense. Atmosphere was LOUD and we had to constantly shout at each other. We were seated in a room off of the bar, and our seats were cold, hard metal chairs. I was given the excuse by the server that there were several large groups causing the food to be cold, but that's not an excuse, every meal should be prepared to the same high quality. No comp on substandard food or wine, never returning to this high-priced burger joint! read more

Located in Maumee in a great old historical building and steeped in history, great music, food and spirits this place is not only classy, but a great venue to have a drink to unwind after a long day. Their drink menu is impressive and reasonably priced. They have a great food menu as well, although I have not personally ordered anything from the handful of visits as of yet.
